I'm looking for one of Graco's older travel systems. I wanted it when I had my daughter but we ended up getting a different pattern than what I wanted. Now that I'm pregnant with our second baby I would really like to find this travel system, we already have the stroller and the playpen that match it. Is there any where you can go online to buy the older Graco patterns?
The pattern name is Meridian.

Answer
try craigslist.org.
you can look at ad's and see if you find it or you can post an ad asking if anyone has it.

Would you suggest not to buy a travel system stroller?

I see it as an essential necessity, unless you never leave the house with your baby. I carry large purses and I'm about to have a newborn with an added diaper bag to carry. Some family members of my fiance said that if they could, they would skip buying a travel system because of the size and burden of traveling with one ($ as well). They said that it's best to wait until the baby needs an umbrella stroller. I repeated this to my family and they thought it was "interesting" and "crazy".

What are your thoughts?

Answer
I think it really depends on lifestyle & how good of one you get...and by "good" I definitely do NOT mean price. Some just have better features & are easier to move around & fold or open, etc...

They are bulky & wide, so you won't likely be taking it shopping or a lot of the places you go the most often. Many places you go, i t IS easier to just put baby in a carrier. You carry large purses NOW - you do not have an infant right now - that will likely change. You tend to get a LOT more practical once baby arrive s& just getting showered, feeling like a woman & getting out the door at a decent time seems like a herculean feat some days.

And there are NICE umbrella strollers - some that DO do travel systems. I have a Cybex - it's my 5th stroller - and the only one I will keep in case we have more kids. They are pricier than your average umbrella, but bigger too - they are a nice in between size. Mine open & closes smoothly weighs only 10 lbs, folds really small, fits my 5 yr old still & he is a good sized 5 yr old, it also lays completely flat & has a 5 pt harness, so I *can* use it with a newborn withut a car seat if I want.

So it allll depends on what YOU want. It's your call. Just research it as best you can & whenever possible go & TRY out the stroller in the store. Do NOT buy it without ever touching it - try it one handed, try to lay it down & get into the basket still. She how easy it is to recline & set up the seat, how easy it is to open & close. Does it stand on it's own once folded (NICE feature to have when you can get it). Don't get too taken in by cup holders. They literally splash nearly everything out unless you are on totally smooth terrain (like the mall & even then...) - so even coffee cups with the tiny pour spouts will splatter everywhere. They are handy if the one you like comes with them, but they certainly aren't a make or break deal. They are highly overrated. I always found the baby lap tray also overrated & not generally utilized at all.
