Answer
Check Wal-Mart and Target, they tend to have them cheaper than other places. You could also watch ebay for a new one. Good luck.

What are trusted brands for Travel systems, cribs, baby etc?

g (

So I'm looking at travel systems and cribs right now.
And I'm curious what do you think is the best brand?

I'm looking for it at different stores for cheap like Walmart, Target, Shopko.

I see Cosco, Graco, Evenflo, Safety first. What are the best brands you recommend or doctors recommend?
Also, what does it mean when it says use of 1 month and up? What should I use as a car seat before she is one month?

Answer
I have an evenflo travel system and have had no problems with it. When I switch to a bigger car seat I am planning on a Graco as I just like them better. I have a Graco playpen, a fisher price swing a stork craft crib (yes there was recalls, but tons of baby products get recalled all the time....most times because people dont use them properly) Honestly...most products you see in stores are good and safe. If they werent they wouldnt be sold.

Parents' suggestions on baby car seat/stroller combos.?

baby trend travel system video on Baby Trend Jogger Travel System Gray Mist

Hello parents...like anything else on the market today, there are 100s of choices when choosing a baby car seat/stroller combination. There is also consumer reports. I'm asking parents' advice on which models are best, and why? Price is not an object in this arena, because safety is first on the list, along with comfort for baby, as well as weight and ease in manuvering the car seat and stroller. Because of the variables, any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

I am compiling information and will type on a sheet and forward to my daughter who is expecting her first baby. Thanks for your input.
I appreciate the very helpful information offered. I will leave this posting up and keep passing along info to my daughter. Thanks!

Answer
You're very helpful in preparing your daughter with the list of best strollers that can be used as travel systems. I hope I can help!

First off, if you can't decide on a stroller right away, you could purchase an inexpensive car seat stroller frame such as a Baby Trend Snap N Go or Graco SnugRider. Graco, Maxi Cosi, Chicco and Safety 1st are the top 4 brands for car seats listed in the latest edition of Consumer Reports.

The stroller models I'm about to recommend are highly rated in consumer guides such as the latest editions of Baby Bargains and Consumer Reports.

Next question, does your daughter just want the stroller for city use? ie sidewalks and shopping? If so, the Baby Jogger City Select is a top-rated lightweight stroller choice. It's won gazillions awards and can hold a myriad of infant car seats. It is lightweight and has a Quick Fold technology which is a HUGE seller for this stroller.

If your daughter thinks she may have another baby in the future, she might invest in a convertible stroller. This stroller starts as a single and can later convert to a double. The top-rated choice is also from Baby Jogger and is called the City Select. It can take a car seat and the seats are reversible with 16 different configurations. It is highly rated and popular parenting website Babble named the City Select the best overall stroller.

Lastly, if she wants to take her baby over different types of terrain, the BOB Revolution stroller is the best, hands down. Again this stroller has been highly rated with professional consumer guides as well as reviewers across different web retailers giving it 4.5-star reviews.

Take a look at the reviews below. They are detailed with photos and video reviews.
I hope this helps narrow your choices and congratulations to your family!

N and A's

I'm looking to buy a Maclaren Volo stroller hopefully this week and was hoping to find a coupon to help the cost. I got an ad for BRU for 10% off strollers but it's only travel systems or jogging strollers. I've looked on Craigslist and Ebay.

Does anyone know of any place online(or otherwise) that have coupons available for use at this time?

Answer
I wonder if different BRU send out different coupons because I just got a coupon book on Friday which had 15% off anything in the store.

Try looking in your local PennySaver people sometimes have coupons in there for free

What is the best jogging stroller at an affordable price?

kldepalma

I am looking for a good jogging stroller. I have a 19 month old son and I have been using the Graco travel system stroller when I go walking jogging. I go almost every morning and bring my son with me. The Graco stroller is not ideal for jogging because it has 4 wheels and I struggle and get tired very easily when I start to jog. Anyone have any suggestions?

Answer
Jogging strollers can get pretty expensive. You can get the Baby Trend Expedition jogging stroller for a decent price. Its not the best jogger out there but great for the price!

Check it out: http://www.stroller-obsession.com/baby-trend-jogging-stroller.html

Looking for a second hand one is a good idea too, I second that!

Good luck!

Eddie Bauer- snap and go, and where to buy in Canada?

baby travel systems in canada on Details about New Baby Trend Jungle Friends Stroller Travel System
baby travel systems in canada image

odaisyduke

I have an older Eddie Bauer travel system which is great! I bought a Baby Trend Snap and Go and it doesnt fit. I know Strollee makes an infant car seat stroller as well, but not sure if it will fit, I can't find these strollers anywhere in Canada? Any ideas? I need to know what stroller will fit the Eddie Bauer type (Strollee says it fits Cosco Eddie Bauer but that is American, mine is made by another company and called a Designer 22) and where can you buy these in Canada?

Answer
I now around here you can buy the Eddie Bauer edition at Sears, I think Canadian tire also has it but I wouldnt ever buy a car seat from there because there stock hsa been on the shelf for a while and sometimes you buy a brand new car seat and it is only good for 3 more years instead of 5. Make sure whenever you buy a car seat take it out of the box to check the expiration date to get the most use out of your car seat!

Why is America better than Canada and Mexico?

Why is America so much better than Canada and Mexico?
Only the people saying America is better have come up with actual reasons so far.

Answer
America has capitalism. The latest new cancer medicines were invented in America because of capitalism.

Because of America's strong capitalistic values, most of the stuff in the world was invented by Americans.

And, most Asian countries survive by making copies of U.S. inventions. (China and India both devalue their currency to make their products look less expensive than American products. Japan also devalued its currency in the 1980's.)

American inventions:
Plasma tv, electronic tv, lcd screens, cellphone, digital signal processing (used in all cellphones). Java(used in most cellphones), DVD and CD's (optical recording), computer chips, personal computers, laptop computers, digital audio players, microwave ovens, digital camera, laser printers, inkjet printers, computer hard drives, computer chip manufacturing (America still leads the world in chip making), fluorescent light, advanced LED's, OLED, digital watches, GPS, GPS navigation, mouse, keyboard, operating system, high level computer language, USB, remote controls, MASER, email, transistors, refrigerator, electronic calculators, VCR, internet, telephone, satellite communication, portable communication radios(walkie talkie), digital satellites, stabilized rubber(shoes, condoms, tires, etc), nuclear powerplants, moon rovers, martian rovers, copy machine, best modern medicines, iron furnace stove, electric stove, air conditioning, airplane(engine-powered), computer animation(motion picture), aspartame(sugarless sweetner), assembly line, automated teller machine (ATM), prepared baby food, bag (flat-bottomed paper), bandage (adhesive), barcode, barbed wire, blood bank, blow dryer, bra, bread slicing machine, portable camera, food cans, can openers, cardboard (corrugated). carbon 14 dating, cash register, cat litter, mail order catalogs, breakfast cereal, chewing gum, laptop computer, personal computer, oral contraceptives, cotton gin, crayons, credit card, heart defibrillator, smoke detector, artificial diamond, disposable diapers, dishwasher, drinking fountain, electric chair, modern rocket, escalator, fiberglass, freeze dried food, frozen food, genetic engineering, electric guitar, coat hanger(wire), electric iron, jeans, jello, kevlar, laundromat, lipstick, electric motor, morse code, nylon, paper towel, parking meter, phonograph (records), petroleum jelly, Post-it Notes, potato chips, car radio, electric razor, safety razor, revolver (gun), roller coaster, safety pin, Scotch tape, stapler, first successful steamboat, drinking straw, sunscreen, tampon(cotton), teflon, telegraph, toilet tissue, disposable tissue, tractor, automatic signal lights, viagra, video games, washing machine(electric), computer databases, handheld computers, glass bottle making machine, CCD(digital chips used in all digital cameras) which are used to convert light into pictures(also used in missiles made by the U.S., Russia, and Europe), DSL, CAT Scans "diagnostic X ray systems", laser ranging, laser multiplexing, air brakes, silicon solar cells, digital light processor, digital signal processor(used in all digital telephones), fiber optic wire, nearly all types of lasers, first laser medical treatments, microprocessor, automated telephone switches, radiator, modem, word processor, ethernet, 3-D computer graphics, nuclear submarines, liquid fuel rocket (invented in 1910's), etc.

Also, most of the chips made in Asia are still designed in America.

What is the best stroller to buy for a new baby?

Kim B

I seen those travel system strollers but they are so bulky! Any suggestions? I am looking for something that is compact and easy to lug around- if that is possible. :) Thanks!

Answer
Aha! I can answer this one! I did tons of stroller research and I found the perfect one! It's the Valco Latitude. It is a 3 wheeler but not a jogger and it is only 17 lbs. If folds very small and is super light. The front wheel swivels or locks out. It has a nice, roomy cargo basket underneath. It comes with the attachment straps to add the carseat when baby is a newborn and when baby gets a little older the seat is super adjustable. Baby can sit almost completely upright to see the world or even lie completely flat for naps. It has a nice big canopy for sun shade and even comes with the wind/rain cover and cold weather boot! All the other strollers I looked at that were in the same category ended up being much more expensive because the accessories are sold separately. I paid almost $300 for the whole thing and it was worth ever penny! It is able to be used up till 50 lbs too! So you should never have to buy another one down the road. Also I like to travel a lot and its super light for gettin in and out of the trunk or on and off the plane etc. It has a telescoping handle too so if you are on the tall side it's still very comfortable to push. Very maneuverable, smart design, looks great! I can't say enough goos about it! Check it out online at: http://www.babystrollershop.com/valco_latitude_single.htm

I love it!!!

what double stroller do you use?

baby travel systems pros cons on Baby Jogger City Mini 2011 Stroller | Tushie Wipers
baby travel systems pros cons image

tRc11

My son will be almost 2 yrs by the time baby arrives. What kind is easier to use? the side by side or the one that is front and back? Do they even have side by side ones that can hold an infant? pros & cons? thanks!

Answer
I am in the same boat as you! Having had a double stroller previously (I have a 5 year old who was 3.5 when my baby girl arrived), I am going to purchase another front and back one. The one we currently have is in great shape, but it is a Sit and Stand and the back part won't work for my soon to be 2 year old. They have another version that comes with the seat intact and can be transitioned into the Sit and Stand at a later time! Wish I would have had the foresight to buy that the first time around! LOL!

The link for the one I like is below. It goes through doors easier than the side by side and isn't too much bigger than a regular stroller that comes as part of a travel system (the kind that hold the car seat). The only down side to this one is that the older child is closer to you rather than the infant. However, for the difference in prices...I can live with that! Also...the pic shows two older kids, but the front part does come with an adapter that allows it to hold the carrier type car seats!

Good luck!

breastfeeding or formula for a 5 week old baby girl?

Liz

I do a little bit of both. I breastfeed once in a while but I mostly give her formula. I don't like breastfeeding because it hurts and it takes so much time. And I feel a bit like my breasts is my husbands ''area''. But still I hear that breastfeeding is so much better

Answer
The answer is it is entirely your own choice and nobody should attempt to tell you otherwise.

What you are doing at the moment is combination feeding, which a lot of mothers choose to do. Many breastfeed their child during daylight hours and then at night time give bottles to encourage the baby to have a healthier sleep pattern. I know of one friend who was told by her doctor to do this because her exclusively breastfed baby was actually losing weight. The formula acted as a top-up to ensure her baby was still getting enough food as well as the benefits of breast feeding.

There are pros and cons to either way of feeding a baby.

Breastfeeding encourages your womb to shrink back to its pre-pregnancy size far quicker, and also burns an extra 500 calories a day for you, helping you to shift any baby weight. It is also linked to but NOT proven yet to reduce your risk of developing breast cancer later on in life. By this I mean that women who were exclusively breastfed as babies and who exclusively breastfed their own babies STILL can contract breastcancer in later life.

Supposedly, breastfed babies also have a stronger immune system. However, my son was breastfed and then developed meningitis at the age of 9 days old due to an infection in his umbiliacal cord that then traveled to his blood. When in hospital for treatment, we made a decision to switch him to formula in order to build him up more and give him the best chance of survival. He made a full recovery on the formula (obviously due to antibiotics and NOT the formula) and the initial 9 days of exclusive breastfeeding had done nothing to protect him from infection. Breastfed babies also tend to gain weight slower, which can often lead to them falling below the average weight of an infant their age on the health charts. The health charts are actually plotted as though a baby is formula fed.

Bottlefeeding requires the extra effort of sterilising equipment which it is vital must be done properly, making up the feeds, and also there is a cost involved. However, the benefits of bottlefeeding are that other people can feed the baby and thus strengthen their bond with him/ her, whilst your partner can share the load of the night feeds. It also is not uncomfortable physically, leaves baby feeling more satisfied, and is convenient in public if you are shy about breastfeeding.

All women are encouraged by their health professional to try to exclusively breastfeed until the baby is 6 months old. However, that does not make you a bad mother if you choose to bottlefeed your baby out of personal preference. Formula will do no harm to your child as long as you carefully follow the guidelines on the box for storage and preparation.
