BABY STROLLER HELP!!?

redsox8000

I need to find a GREAT travel system!! I really want it neutral but I guess girly would be okay!! Please add links to the sites they are on too!!! Please stay relatively affordable.

Answer
We got the Graco pooh travel system at walmart. It's green and yellow and too cute! We bought it because it has awesome saftey reviews and was inexpensive and gender neutral. They have a ton of travel systems online at walmart.com and you can have them shipped to the store if you want usually for free. They range in price from about $130-200. We bought a majority of our baby gear from walmart.com because it has the free ship to store feature, a great variety and reviews from other people who have the items. I HATE wandering around a store trying to figure this stuff out so http://www.walmart.com was great for me. We also looked at Target.com and shopped at babies r us.

What does your 5-10 month old baby eat?

Janetabc

Hey mommies. My baby is 4.5 months and I want to start her on solids around 5-5.5 months. Most likely to start her on cereal, but not really sure when I can move onto the next thing. Just wondering what did you feed your 5/6/7/8/9/10 month olds? Can you give me an idea of how your babies feeding schedules are like? Please be detailed as possible.... Example: 12:00 PM - 2 teaspoon of steamed pureed carrots. Just wanted to get an idea of whath babies ate and how much.

Also, there are some foods to avoid until certain ages...dairy, honey, peanut butter, red meat....? If you can advise that would be great.

Thanks!!!

Answer
Nurse your baby or offer formula bottles before solid foods. Offer solids from 1/2 hour to 1 hour after breast or bottle. Formula and/or Breast Milk are more important than solid foods when baby is starting solids!

Start solids in the morning or mid-afternoon! If your baby has any type of reaction, either allergic or with tummy troubles, you will have all day to deal with it.

Starting solids at bedtime runs the risk of disrupting baby's sleeping schedule as her body learns to digest the new foods!

Your baby will give you clear signs when he's ready to move beyond liquid-only nourishment. Cues to look for include:

⢠Head control. Your baby needs to be able to keep his head in a steady, upright position.

⢠Losing the "extrusion reflex." To keep solid food in his mouth and then swallow it, your baby needs to stop using his tongue to push food out of his mouth.

⢠Sitting well when supported. Even if he's not quite ready for a highchair, your baby needs to be able to sit upright to swallow well.

⢠Chewing motions. Your baby's mouth and tongue develop in sync with his digestive system. To start solids, he should be able to move food to the back of his mouth and swallow. As he learns to swallow efficiently, you may notice less drooling. He may also be teething around the same time.

⢠Significant weight gain. Most babies are ready to eat solids when they've doubled their birth weight (or weigh about 15 pounds) and are at least 4 months old.

⢠Growing appetite. He seems hungry â even with eight to ten feedings of breast milk or formula a day.

⢠Curiosity about what you're eating. Your baby may begin eyeing your bowl of rice or reaching for a forkful of fettuccine as it travels from your plate to your mouth.

You should start with rice cereal which is gluten free and less allergenic than other foods. You can also mix in breast milk and/or formula to help him eat it. Here is some good ideas for solids:
1. Semi-liquid cereals
2. Strained or mashed fruits and vegetables
3. Finely chopped table foods, including meat and other protein sources
I use Gerber's puree instead of other brands, its much better. You can also make your own which is the cheaper way.

At first he'll eat semi-liquid cereal mix just once a day. By around 8 months he should be eating solid food three times a day. A typical day's diet at this point might consist of:

⢠Breast milk or iron-fortified formula
⢠Iron-fortified cereal
⢠Yellow and green vegetables
⢠Fruit
⢠Small amounts of protein such as poultry, cottage cheese, tofu, and meat

Some good habits for when you infant is on solids:
⢠Don't overfeed your baby. Watch for cues that he's full.

⢠Don't try to make your child eat food he doesn't like. Respect his preferences and avoid power struggles over food.

⢠Try to provide a balance of protein, carbohydrates, fruits, and vegetables. Use sweets, salts, and fats in moderation.

⢠Avoid fast food for as long as possible.

⢠Don't bribe or reward your child with food. Instead, offer plenty of hugs, kisses, and attention.

⢠Feed your baby in his highchair whenever possible, rather than in front of the television or on the go.

Answer
i would read the chart on if your baby is showing signs of being ready for solids. you def. want to make sure your baby is ready before trying them. if your baby is eating rice cereal off a spoon.. then it might be time to try stage one baby food. my son got his first two teeth at 3 1/2 months old, skipped rice cereal and went straight for stage one baby food at four months old. he's been eating for a month and a half now... eating about 4-5 containers of fruit and veggies a day... every feeding is followed by a 5-7 ounce bottle. start with maybe one to two containers like a fruit in the morning and a veggie at night. then slowly increase to a couple more containers a day. i try and give my son 2-3 fruits a day, and 1-2 veggies a day.
always, always remember when introducing solids... to introduce one at a time and wait 3-4 days to make sure your baby isnt going to have a reaction to solids. once the couple day waiting period is over, then you can try a new food. try veggies first, because babies who start with fruit tend to not eat their veggies, because they've already tried something sweet. (trust me i am first time mommy, and i made that mistake lol) but here are the signs your baby is ready:

Your baby's appetite will vary from one feeding to the next, so a strict accounting of the amount he's eaten isn't a reliable way to tell when he's had enough. If your baby leans back in his chair, turns his head away from food, starts playing with the spoon, or refuses to open up for the next bite, he has probably had enough. (Sometimes a baby will keep his mouth closed because he hasn't yet finished with the first mouthful, so be sure to give him time to swallow.) Introduce other solids gradually, one at a time, waiting at least three days after each new food. This way you'll get a heads-up if your baby has an allergic reaction to one of them (signs of an allergy may include diarrhea, a bloated tummy, increased gas, or a rash). If there's a family history of allergies, or your baby develops an allergic reaction during this process, start waiting up to a week between new foods. Some experts recommend introducing yellow fruits and vegetables first because they're easiest to digest, but others advise going green from the start so your baby doesn't develop a preference for the sweeter taste of the yellow foods. It's up to you which route to take. Either way, don't leave any food off his menu simply because you don't like it. And stay away from foods that might cause an allergic reaction early on, and foods that might cause him to choke.

If your baby turns away from a particular food, don't push. Try again in a week or so. He may never like sweet potatoes, or he may change his mind several times and end up loving them.

Don't be surprised if your baby's stools change color and odor when you add solids to his diet. If your baby has been exclusively breastfed up to this point, you'll probably notice a strong odor to his formerly sweet-smelling stools as soon as he starts eating even tiny amounts of solids. This is normal. If his stools seem too firm (rice cereal, bananas, and applesauce can contribute to constipation), switch to other fruits and vegetables and oatmeal or barley cereal.

in regards to teething, give your son some teething beads or toys to chew on... or maybe even a cold wet washcloth... that helps..
for his gums try whiskey (i tried the baby oragel on my son, and he hated it... all it did, while it did numb the gums it also made is tounge and throat numb which scared him... whiskey has been used since the dawn of time... and its not like you are giving your child a whole bottle of liquor... just put a dab on your finger and rub it on your childs gums

how many airports are there in prague?

vivien w

We are thinking of traveling to prague with BMI baby and dont want to end up in the middle of nowhere. Also whats the best hotel to stay in? Any help much appreciated.

Answer
Only one airport called INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT PRAHA RUZYNE. As for hotels, I do not know but go with the first answerer about Hotel U. You can also check this out and decide for yourself: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/prgpa-courtyard-prague-airport/ also check http://www.tripadvisor.com/ for reviews.

About taxis, you must be aware that you can be ripped off, I'm not saying it applies to all, but once they can see you're from a foreign country, they can charge more money than its usual cost. You can take it, but be very careful.

Here are some tips that might save you nightmares and a few hundred crowns:

⢠Don't get into a taxi that is parked in front of the train station or at a tourist site. These are waiting
- for unsuspecting tourists and are known to charge rates several times higher than they should be.
⢠If you need to catch a taxi on the street, make sure it is a real, registered taxi. The yellow roof
- lamp must be permanently installed and must say TAXI in black letters on both sides. The company
- name, license number and rates should be printed on both front doors.
⢠Try to find out beforehand how much your ride should cost. If you're stopping a taxi on the street,
- you can ask the driver before getting in and even pay in advance if the amount sounds reasonable.
- If you're ordering a taxi by phone (always a good idea), you can get a price estimate from
- the dispatcher.
⢠Once in the car, make sure that the rate on the taximeter corresponds to the price list posted
- in the car. If it doesn't, bring it to the driver's attention or have him stop the car and get off.
⢠You have the right to request a printed receipt from the driver. If he refuses to give it to you, you
- can refuse to pay the fare.
⢠Be smart and order a taxi by phone from one of these reliable and courteous taxi companies:

- AAA Radiotaxi - tel. 140 14 or 222 333 222, http://www.aaa-taxi.cz/
- City Taxi - tel. 257 257 257, http://www.citytaxi.cz/
- Profi Taxi - tel. 140 35 or 2 61 31 41 51, http://www.profitaxi.cz/
- Halotaxi - tel. 244 114 411, http://www.halotaxi.cz/
- Sedop - tel. 777 666 333, http://www.sedop.cz/

There are others you can check out:

Using one of the Prague airport transfer companies is a good option if you'd like a door-to-door service and prefer to arrange for your transfer in advance. Unlike taxi companies, the shuttle companies require you to book your airport transfer in advance.

Some Prague shuttle companies are ÄEDAZ, Prague Transfers and Prague Airport Shuttle. They typically use passenger cars and vans that fit up to eight or twelve passengers.

You could send an e-mail and ask where the shuttle takes you and stuff.

Hotels do even offer pick ups. So you may want to check with your hotel beforehand and get a confirmed price as they vary from hotel to hotel from around 600 CZK to 100 CZK for a one-way transfer. But then again, there are some hotels offer complimentary airport pick up.

If you want public transportation i.e a bus, it's the cheapest.

The ride costs 20 KÄ (45 KÄ on the Airport Express bus - see below) and the transit system is quite easy to use. Keep in mind that public transport may not have much space for luggage, can be crowded in peak times and most likely won't drop you off right at your hotel. If you have a lot of luggage, you may want to consider using a transfer service or a taxi.

You can take bus 119 from the airport which takes you to Dejvická subway station and back to the airport.

Another tip: Beware of pickpocketers.

Please watch your belongings at the Dejvická metro station where pickpockets prey on tourists traveling from/to the airport. Don't get caught in a crowd (e.g. on the stairwell that leads into the station) and know what's happening around and behind you. Keep an eye on your backpack, side pockets and back pockets.

Hope this helps.

Why is the placenta both part of the baby and part of the mother?

yellow baby travel systems image

Yo Momma!

Answer
It is neither,. It is the support system for the growing baby - but it isn't PART of either of them, hence why it is gone after delivery.

Interesting though, in Bali ......................................
888888888888888888888888888888
In Balinese, a placenta is called ari-ari which derives from the word ari meaning âyounger siblingâ. Balinese Hindus believe that while babies are in the womb until they are born, they are accompanied and protected by these ari-ari, of which there are four:
Bhuta Nyom (amniotic fluid)
Bhuta Rah (blood)
Bhuta Ari-ari (placenta)
Bhuta Tabunan (belly button)
These four siblings help the baby leave the womb by way of the vagina (known in Balinese as goa garbha) safely and healthily.

Since these four elements are considered so crucial, the way they are treated is also important. First of all, the placenta is cleaned and placed in a young empty coconut or a clay pot. Then, the ongkara symbol is inscribed on the lid and the ahkara symbol on the base of the vessel â these are both godly symbols in Hindu philosophy. After this, plant thorns (such as eggplant, rose or pandanus), betel nut and leaves are placed in it. Then, the vessel is wrapped in coconut fibre (ijuk) or white material and if the baby is a boy, the family buries it on the right of the side of the house entrance or door (looking outwards); the opposite is performed if the baby is a girl. If the mother doesnât live in her own house or family compound, she can also choose to have the placenta thrown in the ocean. When the placenta is buried or thrown into the sea, a mantra is recited, praying for longevity. After burying the placenta and reciting the mantra, the hole is covered with earth and black stones. Then a thorny pandanus bush is planted on the site to protect it from animals and evil spirits.

A ceremony now takes place including offerings of white rice, salt, ginger, yellow turmeric rice, red shallot rice, and black charcoal rice. Over 42 days an incense stick or a candle is lit and placed on the site. Normally, whenever the baby is washed, fed or blessed, the ari-ari are also washed fed and blessed. They are considered a real part of the babyâs life.

88888888888888888888888
I have heard it described other ways as well (my cousin lives there) and it is the father's job to take care of the placenta. My cousin said he & his wife chose burial sites based on things - like the sea if you want your child to have adventure & travel, or a mountain for wisdom. I think it is kind of neat actually.

What is the tone of this poem?

roon

I believe the tone is gloomy and straightforward. Gloomy because of the description she gives and straightforward because she's saying things as they are. Can anyone help me out though? Why would it be gloomy?

you are not alone
you are with your sisters in this

Answer
I feel it is more realistic of life than truly gloomy. Capitalism and for that matter any system in any age creates a hierarchy and some are at the top of the pile while the majority are at the bottom or in stages between. This poem deals with people (women) being exploited by the system but they appear to be black. For centuries those with white skins have dominated those with yellow, brown or black skins. Why is this? I feel that when the mass immigrations of around 30,000 years ago out of Africa those who travelled to Europe had their skins changed to a paler shade due to the lack of sunshine. The 'whites' found they were in latitudes that helped them develop advanced feudalism that led to industrialised capitalism, which exploits everyone whether they are black or white. If you are working class and black you will feel very exploited and this will give rise to this type of poem. Gloomy not, realistic yes.

my 24 day old son has a billarubin level of 150 the are leaving him until it is 200 is this safe?

Answer
Jaundice is caused by an over production of bilirubin and a dereased workload of the liver.

When an infant is born they have an increase amount of red blood cells being produced which means they also have an increased amount of red blood cells dieing. When the red blood cell dies it burst open and one of the by-products of this death is a chemical called bilirubin. Bilirubin has a yellow pigment to it. The bilirubin travels to the liver and the liver process's it through the body and to get rid of it from the body we pass it in our urine and stool.

Since newborns have an increased amount of RBC's being destroyed the liver has an increase amount of work that it needs to do. But, the liver is not used to having to complete all this work since when the infant was in utero your body did most of the work for it. Since the liver can not process the bilirubin through fast enough some of the 'extra' bilirubin is pushed back out into the blood stream. This is where the yellow pigment on the babies skin comes from (the extra bilirubin floating around).

This is a common factor happening to most infants because it is common there is a very specific algorythem that the doctors go by to decided at what level the infant should start phototherapy. Make sure the baby is drinking well and this will help to flush his system out.

Answer
-alot of onsies and sleepers. me personally i would buy 3-6 month. cause everything you get at ur shower will be Newborn size.

- diapers and wipes....i would buy these at Sams Club. They have them in bulk. you get more for your money and they last alot longer.

-bottles, a bottle warmer (one for car and a travel one for when u go places) a bottle sanitizer, bottle brush, nursery water...or some sort of sterlized bottled water.

-pacifiers.

-recieving blankets

-fleece blankets

-boppy pellow

-one of those J&J gift sets with the bath stuff in them...First Touch! its in a yellow bag.

-an infant tub, hooded towels, baby wash cloths, tub toys, a toy poutch, tub thermometer.

-a dresser or some kind of storage, those lil storage baskets, and a diaper stacker...some picture frames, baby monitor, and lil toys to put on the dresser.

-crib, the bedding, a matress pad, some kind of music box that attaches to the side, an infant positioner and a mobile

-some source of entertainment for baby....bouncer, playmat, swing.

-car seat and stroller combo...called a Travel System. an extra car seat base.

-baby health and grooming kit...contains. nasal asparitor, clippers, brish, thermometer, some have baby asprin, scratch mits...all depend on the brand. keep a close eye on the size of the nasal asparitor, alot of them are designed to big to fit in babys tiny nose. get you one that has a skinny end on it.

-diaper bag, travel formula despencer, travel size bath set. some wet ones for you and hand sanitizer.

-play yard if shes going from place to place...example sitters, home, grandparents house....they come in handy if you are on the go.
