Question about Evenflo Travel System Strollers vs Jogging Stroller?

Momuvtwinb

I have a Evenflo Eurotrek Travel System and was wondering if anyone has tried an Evenflo stroller on gravel and how did it perform? My boys are fixing to start baseball again and I'm wondering if a jogging type stroller with big wheels will be necessary as I plan on taking my 4 month old with me to practices and games as long as the weather permits in her stroller. Some of the ballparks are gravel and I was wondering if anyone has any advice.

Answer
Travel systems are way to bulky! I got the Citi Mini by Babyjogger. Its a 3 wheel stroller with bigger wheels and yet it is not a jogging stroller. Its meant for everyday use on concrete and gravel terrain. Its also pretty lightweight and collapses in half by simply pulling on the handle located on the seat. You can literally collapse it with 1 finger while holding the baby! I think this is the most awesome stroller and its fairly well priced at $219.99

Travel systems vs. regular stroller..which do you prefer?

99mom

I am trying to decide between getting a travel system or just a regular stroller. I have looked at the reviews for both. I can see how handy a travel system could be but I have also read that a baby shouldn't be in that carrier all the time, it should only be used in the car and not at the store, in the stroller etc. all the time. It said people leave their baby in them too much. So I would like to hear what other parents think. Maybe parents that have used both the travel system and a regular stroller and which did you like better.
I don't need the travel system just to get the infant seat. A carseat I am purchasing is a convertible type for 5 lbs and up. The state health dept. recommends them over an infant seat carrier so that's what I am going with.

Answer
I would say to also think about what time of year you will be using it. My son was born in the fall, so I used the infant carrier throughout the winter. That way I just put the blanket thing (I forget what it's called) around the carrier. It's better to use those instead of bulky coats.
Once Spring came, I switched to a convertible car seat and regular stroller. By then he was able to sit up on his own, and didn't like the way the carrier forced him to recline.
With a late spring or summer baby, go for the regular stroller. With a fall or winter baby, get the infant carrier.
When you go to the grocery store or shopping, you can use a wrap or front carrier.

What is the best brand in travel systems for babies?

Heidi

I'm looking for the best brand for car seat, stroller, and pack n play!

Answer
Graco for the pack n play. Huggies hands-down for baby wipes. As for the car seat, hated travel systems. Strollers are bulky, car seat is quickly outgrown. Saved the money and bought a good convertible car seat and a baby ring sling to carry baby. We found a great deal on a used graco quattro stroller that reclined flat for a newborn. I rather have my lil ones have room to stretch out if in the stroller than stuffed in some plastic seat. The first Years True Fit makes an awesome seat for newborns and probably will last you five years.

Travel System for my Sister's first Baby?

J.R.

So my older sister is pregnant with her first child, it's a girl. She is due sometime in December. So I was thinking about getting her one of those Travel System stroller things but I don't know what the best deal is. I want one that won't be too bulky, and is very sturdy and light. I also don't want to spend more than $200. So where would be a good place to look?

Answer
Babies R Us or Walmart.

Personally I have the Graco Elyse Travel system and I love it!!! It is light weight, The stroller folds with one hand, It had good reviews, I know 2 other moms who have it and both love it!!

I had a girl also so That's the one I got. I wouldn't recommend Even Flo - My bf's sister just had a baby also and her evenflo is horrible! And they get tons of Recalls.

Are pregnant Mainland Chinese allowed to come to Taiwan now to have their babies?

We left an

I see what has been happening in Hong Kong.
http://www.hkdigit.net/2011/10/hk-march-against-mainland-chinese-pregnant-mothers/

With the expansion of travel from Mainland China to Taiwan granted by the KMT, how long will it be before a lot of mothers-to-be start planting their PRC children in Taiwan?
http://blogs.ft.com/beyond-brics/2011/05/06/chinas-wealth-drain/#axzz1lfWNzC00
In the past decade the number of babies born to mainland women who are not married to Hong Kongers jumped from 620 in 2001 to 32,563 last year.
"Honey, I'm going into labor. Get me on a plane to Taipei, NOW!"
(We can talk about how "all Taiwanese became Chinese" at a later date... OK?)

Answer
I am no immigration law expert, but from what I know, the short answer is yes.

The situation in Hong Kong is that pregnant Chinese women are going to Hong Kong to have children, leading to locals to stage a protest, arguing that public health resources are directed toward non-local people. As a result, public hospitals are crowded out, forcing Hong Kong women to seek higher priced medical service at private hospitals. While the number of pregnant women in mainland China traveling to Hong Kong have increased, it is thought that most of them are wealthy enough to buy their way into Hong Kong, the financial barrier is still great for most mainland Chinese.

From the public health perspective, Taiwan is already facing this kind of pressure, because Taiwanese doctors have all but fled the more traditional roles (pediatrics, surgical units, internal medicine, and obstetrics/gynecology), more and more doctors are seeking to practice in cosmetic surgery, which is much more lucrative in terms of effort and income ratio. If pregnant mainland Chinese come to Taiwan to have their babies, it is bound to have some impact on Taiwan's medical resources.

I know you are concerned about the issue of immigration, more so than the problems with Taiwan's public health. So here is my opinion.

There's a gradual increase of Taiwanese marrying mainland Chinese, and vice versa, happening in recent years, the government have set up tight control over who gets to enter Taiwan from mainland China. However, it does not seem there are tight rules over pregnant women seeking to have their babies in Taiwan. The same issue with having babies elsewhere, in Hong Kong or Taiwan, is the financial barrier. Taiwan's universal health care does not cover foreign individuals, therefore patients are required to pay at the full cost, which is quite a heavy sum.

Now if the situation is that PRC parents coming to Taiwan to have children, the current rule is that you still have to apply for legal status, which may or may not be approved. If one of the parents is a Taiwanese national, then you have a greater chance of being approved, providing that you have proof of parental DNA relationship. Both situations above require many paperwork, and is not easily fulfilled. To be honest, I think most mainland Chinese prefer to immigrate to the US, given that they can afford it. By the way, Hong Kong people also have a greater chance of being accepted to Taiwan.

In my opinion, Taiwan can probably take advantage of mainland Chinese immigrating to Taiwan. First of all, communist China will probably hesitate to raise a war with Taiwan, because it will cause casualties on their side. This might ease the tension across the straits. Secondly, to a raise a child in Taiwan is no small feat, Taiwan can harvest a lot of taxes off those rich mainland Chinese parents. Lastly, immigrating to Taiwan is very complicated, though I cannot definitively tell you there are no loopholes, I will tell you that once a mainland Chinese baby go Taiwanese, there's no turning back, because our system plainly works better.

Is it reasonable Mainlanders complain Hong Kong's forbidding 3 or more cans milk powder taken out of HK?

Freely

The whole problem stemmed from China's inability to stop the country's toxic milk production which went headline in 2008.

5 years gone by toxic milk powder is still selling all over China which drive tons of Mainlanders travel around the world to stock up reliable milk powder for their babies. It has also led to the illegal smuggling of foreign milk powders into China as China imposes heavy tariffs on imported goods.

Hong Kong, a small neighboring city of 7 million population is hard hit by the hungry Mainland milk powder scramblers and smugglers. Tons of ruthless Mainlanders loaded with carton boxes of milk powder pushing around the narrow alleys of train and bus stations daily causing nuisances to HK residents.

HK parents are finding very difficult to buy milk powder in HK's supermarkets and stores, many parents petitioned to the government for help. 12,500 signatures were also sent to President Obama in January.

HK government passed a new law which came into effect on March 1 limiting each adult travel can take with him/her a maximum of 2 cans of milk powder. Since passing of the new law, the supply of milk powder normalize in all the supermarkets and stores in HK and the tens of thousands of daily ruthless Mainland smugglers disappeared all at once.

Instead of complaining the incompetence and inability of their own CCP government to stop the toxic milk production inside China which in turn cause nuisances not only to Hong Kong but to the whole world, Mainlanders begin to fiercely attack Hong Kong for passing the new law which include CCP mouthpiece The Global Times, a subsidiary of China Daily.

Aren't Mainlanders lacking common sense and grasping the root of the problem? Don't they realize that it's CCP/Mainlanders desperately in need to cling onto Hong Kong and not the other way around?

Under 1 country 2 systems, HK has all good reasons to legislate laws to protect the best interest of the small city and its 7 million people not to get abused by the greedy, ruthless and poor Mainlanders. In case CCP/Mainlanders think otherwise, please go ahead to announce to the whole world that Hong Kong be independent. Thank you.
@CCP mouthpiece Walle

"HK Governor"??? So even CCP mouthpiece the wonderful city should be gone back to the British, eh, LOL!!! No wonder only the mouthpiece dreamt about "HK Governor" apologize.

Tell your CCP masters without educating the locusts properly to behave like normal human beings, keep them locked up, Mao was more brilliant in this regard.
The gist of the problems lies with CCP's corruptions and incompetence in controlling safety and reliability of food and drink produce in China. Mainlanders should divert their efforts to push their government to work hard on food safety and not ranting an oversea's law in preventing ruthless Mainlanders going over there to scramble for reliable food stuffs. You people are acting like locusts sneaking all over the place for food which is being brought about by your corrupted and lazy government.
Silly of CCP/media/Mainlanders to waste time criticizing HK's law which has rightly set to protect HK people, and not criticize CCP government for aiding and abetting poisonous food/milk/drinks/spices all over China.
EDIT
Strange that Yahoo Answer disabled the "Choose Best Answer" function. Anyway Lim's answer is chosen as the BEST with remarks as follows,

Agree with Lim, thank you. Mainlanders/MBASeeker should learn to be considerate and respect others. Hong Kong is not the same as China. You said it rightly, "No country or SAR area is going to put the welfair of other countries' people before the needs of their own." Thanks to the other answers.

Answer
It reasonable that Main landers can complain, however, many countries around the world have regulations on what foreigners can and can't do with respect to helping citizens of their own country first.

For example foreigners in China about buying property past rules included
They had to to lived in China for more than one year, they could only buy by one piece of property in certain areas.

Unfortunately many of these people who complain that the Hong Kong rules are unfair and can't listening to logic and that their own country does. No country or SAR area is going to put the well fair of other countries people before the needs of their own. Often the protestors are usually the poor uneducated and unemployed, the growing economic benefit China has never spurred upon them and the boom has caused more misery to their lives, opportunities are abundant in China and the capable ones are working to make the most out of it. IN the end they should be complaining to the mainland government asking why its impossible to provide them with safe powdered milk.

baby traveling?

BedTymeBea

when is a newborn old enough to travel by plane?

Answer
As long as your child has had a check-up with the doctor and everything is fine, your child will be safe to fly almost immediately. Some airlines will only take them once they are 2 weeks old, some will take them as young as 24-48 hours old. Check with your specific airline though to confirm.

If he/she has even a slight cold, the pressure in his/her ears during take-off and landing (even if you do the precaution methods) could leave his ears aching for days after the flight.

Most doctors recommend that if anyone is sick (such as being stuffed up or already having an earache), not to take the flight because of the potential damage to the ears. I know my husband and other pilots do not work if they are sick because of this danger.

I've been flying internationally and domestically with my children since they were 2 months (now 7&5). Here are some tips and advice that have always worked for me and I hope will help you:

1.) You will need to have all your baby's documents in order. It is a good idea to keep a copy of his/her notarized birth certificate with you. If it is an international flight you will need a passport and possibly a visa for your child as well. Verify what travel documents you will need in advance to make sure you have everything.

FAA regulations currently allow children under the age of two to fly free of charge as "lap children" (not required to have their own seat).

The Flight Attendants should place you in a front seat where you will have more room. Depending on the airline and length of flight, the Flight Attendants might give you a bassinet that attaches to the front wall to put your child in (however you can not uses this during taxi, take-offs, landings, or turbulence).

This is not the safest way for a child to fly and the airlines recommend children to have their own seat with a child safety device.

2.) I advise using a CRS (Child Restraint System) because it is safe for the child - especially during turbulence, makes them feel secure, is more comfortable for both parent and child, will help your child sleep, and gives both of you the opportunity to relax a bit.

A CRS is a hard-backed child or infant safety seat that is approved by the government for use in both motor vehicles and aircraft.

In order to be certified for use on an airplane, the car seat has to met the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Check the labels on the side of your car restraint for a sticker (words will be printed in red) for verification that your seat is safe for airplane use.

Many airlines offer half-price tickets so parents can be guaranteed that their child can travel in a CRS device. You should call your airline to ask for a discount and/or ask what the airline's policy is for using empty seats.

3.) For take-offs and landings, the best thing you can do to help with the ear popping, is if your child is nursing, nurse him/her. If he/she is not nursing, give your child a bottle to drink (formula, water, (juice for older babies)- it doesn't matter) or a pacifier.

Baby formula is fine to take, and you are not limited to the amount you can bring aboard (as long as your child is with you), do not worry. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/formula.shtm

New regulations allow you to take beverages (including water) from home as long as they are less than 3oz, -OR- beverages (including water) of any size that you have purchased from inside the security area onto planes. You can also bring a limited amount of baby food onto the plane with you. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#10

Save your money when it comes to buying water though because the Flight Attendants will provide you with hot or cold water (or any other drink) free at any time that you request, no matter how many times you request it.

Another trick is that if your child is not taking to the pacifier or wanting to nurse or drink, gently rub his/her neck from the chin down to the chest several times - this will cause a swallowing motion which will help with the ears popping.

4.) Make sure to pack plenty of things to entertain your child, such as comfort things such as books and a few toys, and one or two comfort things, such as a favorite blankie or stuffed animal.

5.) Be sure to pack 2-3 changes of clothes for your child. You will need this in case he/she gets sick, spills something on him/herself, or in case your luggage gets lost.

6.) Keep your diaper bag well stocked with plenty of diapers, wipes, ointments and other essential things. Baby nail clippers and scissors are not allowed though. Just remember the new law regulating liquids, gels, and such and pack accordingly. http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm You can usually find travel size baby products in stores and they are wonderful for plane use.

You should be respectful of other passengers and always change your child's diaper in the restroom. They do have diaper bed changers in there, although they can be a little small.

7.) Keep your doctors name and number with you. Also get the name and number of a doctor where you are visiting in case an emergency should come up.

8.) Bring any medications that you might need for your child should he/she get sick or that he/she takes regularly. Remember that if they are not prescription medications, the 3oz rule applies to them and they must be kept in a clear plastic bag.

Do NOT give your child medicine with the hopes of it making him/her sleep. This is not only cruel, but dangerous as well.

9.) Last but not least, if help is offered to you, take it.

If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me.

at what age did your baby stop using the travel system stroller?

i have a 3 month old son and i'm using the chicco cortina stroller
http://www.chiccousa.com/gear/travel-systems/cortina-30lb-systems/travel-systems-30-adventure.aspx

Answer
My baby is 1 year and still using the cortina travel system. The car seat can be used until they are 30 pounds but some babies didn't like it.
Anyway the AAP recommend that babies should travel backwards at least until they are 12 months old AND 20 pounds, but if you can keep them them facing back the longer the better.

Baby registry. . . .?

I have started a baby registry at babies r us, target and burlington coat factory. Is that too many places? . . . Not enough?

Also, when adding items to my registry I feel awkward putting something on there for more than $30. Is this silly or perfectly normal? I want to add a bunch of items at different price ranges, but I don't know how much is "too much". What were the ranges of prices on your registry and how many higher-priced items did you add?

Answer
I only registered at one place... I felt it would be tacky to register all over town.

I put literally everything on my registry regardless of price... there were a couple of reasons for this... I registered at Babies R Us and they give you a 10% discount on anything left on your registry the week before your due date. So I wanted to put the bigger ticket items on there so I could benefit from the discount. Another reason is that I used my registry as a checklist for things I had recieved and things I still needed which is why I wanted to put EVERYTHING on there.
Also, you never know what people will be willing to buy you... My parents ended up buying me my travel system (stroller, car seat and base) that was on my registry... I didn't put it on there for anyone to buy it, I put it on there so I could access it easily and get the discount later, but my parents bought it for me for my baby shower so that was really nice.
I also got a few other bigger ticket items from other members of my family like my grandmother.

I would put everything you can possibly think of on there, personally.

Best items for a baby register (include brands if you have a recommendation)?

KLC79

My husband and I will be registering for our baby shower soon. We are first time parents. I was just wanting advice on what parents have found to really be the best items to have with a newborn. If you can recommend specific brands of the items that would be great too. I would like to chose our items knowing that people recommend them due to their past experiences...current parents would know more about which brand work best and which items are more used/needed that I would be able to figure out1 We were going to look at Target, Babies-R-Us, and Baby Depot (in Burlington Coat Factory) as our possible registry locations. Thanks!
I meant Baby Registry! I overlooked that-Sorry!

CHICCO, BRITAX or Graco baby travel systems!!!!?

Amy

I am looking for the best all around safe but practical baby stroller with infant car seat....i know the CHICCO is top rated and #1.....has anyone used either of these brands and which models?? What r ur opinions and comments?? I need ur help ladies!!!! I like the CHICCO cortina and BRITAX b agile but not sure which would be best.

Answer
Leaving a baby in a car seat to let them sleep or to let them ride in a stroller is not a recommended sleep position. The tilt and the curve of the seat decreases the oxygen level in their blood. For a newborn, you want to use a pram-type or flat surface, full recline basically. Or you can use a baby chest carrier (like a moby wrap or ergo) until they hit about 4-6 months when they sit up and then it doesn't matter.

So, the B-Agile Britax stroller does not fully recline. Which is stupid because they make plenty of fully reclining strollers in other countries and have a pram attachment even for their other stroller (which is ridiculously expensive.) The car seat is a good one, and I like the anti-roll bar on the seat, and also goes down to 4lbs for preemie use. But with the stroller you'd want to wait using it until baby is a bit older. The wheels, from my experience, are nice and very maneuverable and I do like the design, but not for a newborn.

The Chicco Stroller lays fully flat even without the car seat in it. The car seat is also a good one, some go down to 4lbs for preemie size, and are a highly rated design. When I was looking for an infant seat I was torn between the Chicco Key-fit 30 and the Graco Snugride 35, they were (from what I could see) the best at the time. The wheels on the stroller are fairly standard size though, and it's a bit harder to push (it's bulkier than the Britax design, so that's to be expected.)

The Graco Travel systems tend to be awfully bulky and annoying from my experience, however there are some Graco strollers that I think look very promising but I haven't tried out yet. The Graco Snugride 35 is a great car seat from my experience, I loved being able to adjust the incline without having to try and move the seat around, just rotate the dial. It goes down to 4lbs as well. My Graco Snugride 35 went through my son, then I handed it to my sister who could not afford a seat and it went through her son (she's far less careful with car seats), and she's handing it down to my niece. It still looks in very good condition, so I'm pleased with how it's held up. I cannot say the same for the basic Snugride that I got with my daughter. That one not only got recalled but the padding and everything wasn't that comfortable and after a year of use it just didn't look good at all. The stroller that I got with my basic Snugride had small wheels, was bulky, hard to do anything with, and took up the entire backseat of our car. It was AWFUL. Again, it eventually got recalled.

But the Graco Strollers today have a wider variety. The Fast Action fold Graco lays flat. The Quatro Tour lay flat, Styllus LX, they even have a 3 wheeler now that lays flat, the Trekko. These all come with the Snugride 30, which I wasn't as impressed with, but is still going to be a good seat. The Graco snugride also goes to 40lbs now, but the problem I ran into with my Snugride 35 is that after about 10 months old my son wanted to sit up more and when we switched him to a convertible that allowed that he stopped crying. My nephew right now (my sister is still using the seat) screams when he rides in her car seat with her... but when he rode in my car just twice all complaints stopped and he is an angel in the car (she doesn't believe me, but he is.) That recline is great for babies, but once they hit about 10 months it seems they want to sit up.

If it was me, I would not get a travel system. I'd look at the different seats and try picking them up and carrying them and putting a doll in and out of them, then decide what works with my family. I would not stress the weights, though I would probably get one that goes to 4lbs just 'in case'. Then I'd look at different strollers, some of the ones that Graco has released really interest me with the bigger wheels and lay flat abilities. However, with my son I tried carrying my son in an Ergo and he didn't want out until well over a year old, meaning the lay flat would be more of an option. Consider what you'll use the stroller for; walking in parks, off-road areas, just shopping malls and zoos, up and down stairs and buses? Different wheels work best for different uses. Lighter is always nicer it seems. And see how small it folds up because you don't want it taking up a seat in your car.

What do you think of the Baby Trend brand stroller/car seat travel system?

wonderingi

Particularly the "Venture" style. And, did anyone order it direct from the website? If so, where can you take it if there is a problem?

Answer
Love the stroller, hate the car seat, would never buy the travel system.

You can try out the strollers or at least some of the models at Target and Toys R Us/Babies R Us. I love them, they're comfortable for my kids, easy to maneuver, easy to go through sand, dirt, grass, whatever, and I haven't tried out a nicer stroller. I love the large wheels that are bicycle wheels so that it's easy to fix them and for them to go over obstacles. :)

However, I don't like the car seat because you can try them at Target as well, and you have to put the two hooks together then push them into the seat-belt latch, and when working with a restless baby that would be a nightmare. Graco and other infant seats let you push in one side then the other, which makes it a lot easier when you're working with a restless baby.

I also don't like people putting the baby in a car seat outside of the car. It makes the car seat at risk for knocking against things and becoming damaged, as well as it curves the baby. SIDS research says over and over that we need to lay the baby flat or be carrying the baby, and research has proven that while car seats save their lives in an accident you should limit their time in a car seat (or anything that tilts them) to less than 3 hours in a day and no more than 1 hour at a time, and basically not use it in anything but the car.

So the stroller is nice, get the stroller, but order it through something like Target or Walmart's or babies r us so that you can take it there if there's a problem. Skip the car seat, get one that is better and will work better. Carry the baby for the first 4 months, either your arms or a Moby Wrap for a cheaper alternative to something like an Ergo, it's really not hard. Do a search on car-seat breathing and you'll find the studies done about the dangers.

Add: Looked at the stroller. It's not the jogger that I prefer. If you're going to go with that style of stroller, look at the Chicco strollers. They lay completely flat, so it's better for the SIDS aspect, and have better reviews. I honestly wouldn't get a Baby Trend stroller that's not the jogger because they don't push well, don't maneuver, don't move well. It's all about the wheels and those little wheels always are a pain in the neck on strollers.

This is one similar to what I thought you were talking about. They're approved for babies about 2 months up.

March 1998 - Can't believe that it was 12 years ago! I graduated from Trent University in 1988 and then travelled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, Australia, Central and South America over the many years that followed. Returning to Bolivia in 1992 was amazing. To see where old friends from the exchange ended up was very enlightening. I have owned my own business (variety store & three baby products stores) since 1991 with my cousin. I live in Toronto and am seriously considering a move to the west coast to start up similar stores out there.

I would love to hear from anyone who was there in 1986.

why do I feel so ashamed of being american and wish I was canadian?

sour peppe

I hate america, Im so tired of the stupid laws and government traps and lies.
america its crime ridiculously high and educations its horrid, life its a nightmare here in north america things are meaningless. The system its so slow and human rights are ignored. The laws are strict for stupidity and weak on real criminals, its ashamed how our country claims to be the best and #1 when its in the lowest rank of all. My mom went to canada and was there for a few months when she was an exchanged student at the university, she toured around ontario and quebec, she knew english, french, and spanish so she managed well in canada. She told me canada was one of the cleanest and organized places she has ever seen in her entire life, she said the school system its amazing and like any other country there is downfalls but not even as hard compared to america, she said crime rates were very low and there was order in everything. I want to move to canada so bad but I know its hard because I dont know anyone in canada or what are the requirements to become a citizen. I wish I was canadian since i was in middle school and just dream of at least visiting and just see if its for me.

how can I get information about canada and citizenship?

Answer
You know, I actually used to be ridiculous like that, but then I moved abroad.
I've been to and lived in many different countries, and yeah, it's understandable to hate our lying government and hate how they let us down all the time, but don't hate the country itself--Do you realize how good you've got it?

The standard of living and quality of the US is by far the best I've had in comparison to all the places I've lived. And it's made me regret my whiny-baby attitude about it that I've had before. Have you every thought about the little things that we have over other countries? The ability to drive, purchase things cheap, hell, even have a refrigerator that makes us ice. Or, even the fact that we can walk down the street and get a simple, fast meal after working a 12-hour day.

And becoming a citizen in another country is beyond difficult. I would know. Unless you magically can produce up a Master's degree.

Go open your eyes first and travel the world. Not resorts. Actually live their lives, and then you'll see how ignorant you are with all that America hating.

How to go jogging in the winter with a baby?

Kckckc

I bought a travel system and of course we don't use the car seat anymore but is it fine to use the regular stroller to go jogging with or do I have to get one of those pricey jogging strollers?
I am running on a flat road with a few curves ( no cars ) Also what are some tips on keeping baby warm? She won't wear a hat so that's not an option thank god she has tons of hair! I have a stroller blanket that can be used for strollers or car seats so I can use that and gloves and the obvious make sure whole body is covered with something but what else can I do for her to make sure she is warm? She is a year old and I don't have a sitter to leave her with while I run. I am on a tight budget so I can't afford the gym or a treadmill and please no rude comments. Also she is 16 months old.

Answer
Layer her clothing and use a weather shield. If you only have a standard single seat stroller you can pick a weather shield up for $10 from major discount department stores.

You might know a weather shield as a rain cover, they're usually made of clear plastic and it will trap heat in the stroller, if you pop a hot water bottle in the seat a 10 minutes before your jog and remove it as you put your daughter in it should stay toasty warm for her.

If you can afford it, a sheepskin liner for the stroller would also be a godsend for keeping her toasty.

How much can I expect to spend in a good jogging stroller, and is it worth it?

Shaelyn Ca

I am thinking about getting a jogging stroller for my almost 1 year old.I love to run and think it would be fun to bring her to the park like in the afternoons after school.I was wondering how much they generally run,and would it be worth it?Also, how long can they usually use them for?I have the stroller that came with her travel system, but want one to run with.

Is it totally rediculous to buy 3 strollers for our toddler and newborn?

baby trend travel system jogger reviews on ... .com: Customer Reviews: Baby Trend Jogger Travel System - Gray Mist
baby trend travel system jogger reviews image

KandCsMomm

I have a 23 month old and am due in December. My 2 YO doesn't really like to sit in her stroller that much, but at the same time it is still totally necessary for zoo trips, mall trips ect. And we go on day/weekend trips a LOT and totally HAVE to have a place for her to sit then too. I have a baby sling that I can/will use. However when the baby is a newborn and it is winter time I am certianly not going to want to take them out of thier nice comfy warm car seat to place them in a sling ect, especially if they are asleep. I am planning on getting the baby trend stroller that the car seat straps into. I was also planning on gettin the Baby Jogger City Mini twin with a buggy board attachment on the back (they now make a car seat adapter for the mini). However I would still like to have an umbrella style for quick trips around town. The baby will be about 4-5 months before it is really warm here and I would be OK taking them out of the car seat and into something where they can just lay/sit. I was considering a sit and stand style however I want an actual seat for my 2 YO not just a bench, and I really hate the way they look. I was considering getting the city mini and then looking for a used Maclaren for when they are bigger. None of the baby stores near where i live has the City Mini for me to preview so I have to go off of reviews and stuff online. Is the city mini light/compact enought to compare to a Maclaren? And suggestions/reviews? I really do not want one of the Graco type doubles that are wider front/back as I have used them before and they are super hard to move around. From what I've read the city mini is almost small enough to so through a standard door. you just have to tilt it sort of sideways.
well I already have 3 that we're/are my 2 year olds. The sinle one that came with the travel system that I hate. A really nice jogger one (but it's only a single) and then a single maclaren stroller. There are times I will still use the jogger and single maclaren but I also see totally good reasons to have the car seat adapter one, the city mini, and eventually the maclaren double. But my husband is DONE with me buying stollers!

Answer
OHH I hear you!! When my son was born we got a Graco travel system and a jogger since my husband likes to run and we thought it'll be great to take our son out for runs, hikes, etc. Well my son never really liked the jogger :(
And my daughter came when my son was a bit over 2, and just like your daughter he wouldnt sit much in his stroller either, but for longer trips, mall etc we needed one. So I got a Graco tandem stroller- bad idea! The thing was soo heavy, my son was uncomfortable, and I hated it. But my daughter was born in January! so we needed a stroller for the both of them!
Soon we weaned my son out of his stroller and we got an umbrella stroller for trips.

My sister had a baby not too long ago and she opted for the Chicco twin stroller, for her newborn and her toddler. It's amazing! I wish I had thought of that when my daughter was born!! It's very light, it's comfortable for both kids, and it's compact!!

I'm looking for a 3-wheeled stroller?

Danni

My husband and I are looking to get a 3-wheeled stroller, but there are so many out there I don't know which to go with. I was hoping someone owning a 3-wheeled stroller could help me out? I've looked at different makes/brands but these reviews are driving me nuts!
So, if you own one...
What brand do you have? Do you like it? Would you recommend it to others? I love the travel systems, but I guess it doesn't necessarily have to be one. Some brands I'm looking into so far are: Mia Moda Energi stroller, BabyTrend Expedition Travel System, Graco Trekko, and also the Jeep 3-wheeled stroller.
Is anybody able to weigh in with their opinions?

Answer
I would recommend going to a store like babies-r-us and trying some out. We have a Baby Trend and honestly I do like it. But I don't recommend a jogging stroller until they're 6 months up. As far as I know, there isn't a 3 wheeled stroller that lays flat, and newborns need that. It's also not good to rely on the car seat because the slope that they're kept at can interfere with breathing (SIDS recommendations are to keep the baby sleeping on a flat surface.) My favorite combo? A nice ergonomic carrier (like the Ergo or Moby-Wrap) for the first 6 months, then a nice 3-wheeled stroller with off-road capabilities once they're able to sit up. :) I did that with my son, pushing his sister in the stroller, and it was WONDERFUL, they're so little and snuggly against you at that age there's no reason to need a travel system or even use a stroller for them. And biologically they want to see your face and snuggle up by you, not be in a stroller, until they're able to physically start exploring a bit then they seem to like a stroller more.

It also sort of depends what you're using it for. If you're jogging with your stroller, then the Baby Trend isn't a good one because the front-wheel is loose or you can lock it in place, so for serious joggers that front wheel tends to come loose with time and wobble, not good. If you're going off-road though, then I prefer one like the Baby Trend because you can leave the front wheel so it turns and it's not hard to control, also the wheels are bike-wheels so you can get all-terrain bike wheels or just carry a bike-repair kit and if you get a flat then it's not hard to fix. If you're wanting city-type living, one handed folding, etc, then one like the Britax B-Agile will work, with smaller wheels.

I have never liked the Jeep 3 wheeler, every one I tried just didn't work for us. I like my Baby Trend because of the big wheels and how easy they are to fix, but don't like how it's not really great for jogging, still we use ours mostly off-roading. In stores, the long profile can get in the way, but the narrow width makes it so that anywhere I can walk through comfortably, the stroller easily fits.

So really it all depends on what you want it for. If you want it for jogging and exercise, get a real jogger with a fixed front wheel. If you want it for city, then the big wheels and long profile can get in the way on buses and in stores, the smaller wheeled varieties will serve you better. If you want it off-road (sand, big curbs, trails, rocks, etc), the big wheels and turning front wheel capabilities are far better. If you plan on having more kids, consider things like the Britax B-Ready (ridiculously expensive, but you can find other brands that do the same thing) where there's 4 wheels, but very maneuverable and able to be adjusted for a flat pram-like bed or 2 kids riding in it.

Cortney S

ok so im wondering how the car seat stroller combos work? i know you can buy then as a set and they will fit together such as the graco travel system, libby at walmart. but i was wondering if anyone knows if u can buy a graco stroller and then any graco car seat would fit into? if that makes Sense? im asking bc i want the combo thing bc i want to be able to out my infant in it and then also use the stroller once she is bigger. but i need a solid black stroller so that it will match my pink and black zebra cover. but the car seat doesn't matter the color bc my pink zebra cover will cover all of it and not show any brown or grey or whatever the color may be.. but i cant find the travel system/combo together in a solid black or even a solid pink?anyone have any ideas? im being really really picky about this whole thing also... so for example could any graco brand car seat fit with any graco brand stroller ( doesn't have to be that brand just an example..) thanks

Answer
I bought a travel System and love it. I am on the go alot and just put the car seat in the stroller and go. Plus when I go to the mall it is a must have for me. I am sure that most car seats can fit in the strollers. You can always go to like baby r us and someone can help and explain how everything works they even have travel systems that are all black.

can you tell me the funniest jokes ever?

What does the bible say about smoking marijuana?

baby travel systems guide on ... Baby B'air Flight Vest Travel Harness - baby airplane travel harness

Randyy

Did jesus used to smoke a blunt every now and then?

Answer
Is Marijuana Really That Bad? âSome say that using marijuana is a way to escape problems,â says Ellen, who lives in Ireland, âand that it doesnât have any bad side effects.â Have you heard similar statements about marijuana? Compare some common myths with the facts.

Myth. Marijuana is not harmful.

Fact. Known or suspected lasting effects of marijuana are as follows: damaged memory, impaired ability to learn, and suppressed immune system, as well as damage to the sexual health of both males and females. It can induce anxiety attacks, psychoses, and paranoia. Children born to women who smoke marijuana are more likely to have behavioral problems, be less attentive, and have greater difficulty making decisions.

Myth. Marijuana smoke is less harmful than cigarette smoke.

Fact. Compared with tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke can deposit four times as much tar on your airways and carry five times as much poisonous carbon monoxide into your blood. Smoking five marijuana joints can deliver the same amount of cancer-causing toxins as an entire pack of cigarettes.

Myth. Marijuana is not addictive.

Fact. Teens who have mental or emotional problems can quickly become addicted to marijuana. Others can become addicted after long-term use. In addition, studies show that teens who smoke marijuana have a much greater risk of using other addictive drugs, such as cocaine.

What does the bible say? To be completely honest with you, there is not a scripture in the bible that has a law set against smoking. The reason for this is because the majority of the bible, has you exercise and follow not laws, but primarily "principles."

Bible principles are fundamental truths. Laws, on the other hand, may be for specific circumstances. (Deuteronomy 22:8) We must use thinking ability to understand how a principle applies in a particular situation. (Proverbs 2:10-12) For example, the Bible teaches that life is a gift from God. That basic principle can guide us at work, at home, and while traveling. It leads us to take safety precautions.âRead Acts 17:28.

By using the scriptures that we know and understand, we can deduce an educated conclusion for ourselves. Here are some examples of medical facts of smoking and some scriptures that you can use to compare.

The probability that a long-term smoker will eventually be killed by tobacco is 1 in 2. The director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO) stated: âA cigarette is . . . a cleverly crafted product that delivers just the right amount of nicotine to keep its user addicted for life before killing the person.â

Smoking tobacco endangers health and life. Smoking has been linked to more than 25 life-threatening diseases. It is, for example, a major contributor to heart attack, stroke, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and various cancers, especially lung cancer and is related to a greater risk of atherosclerosis and diabetes. That being so, smoking and high blood pressure are a dangerous combination that can lead to cardiovascular diseases.

How Smoking Affects Others: The Bible says: âYou must love your neighbor as yourself.â (Matthew 22:39) Love for your neighborsâand your family members are your closest neighborsâis a powerful reason to quit.
Smoking hurts others. Until recent times a smoker could light up just about anywhere and expect no objection. But attitudes are changing because more people understand the dangers of breathing in smoke that drifts from the cigarettes of others. For example, a nonsmoker who is married to a smoker has a 30-percent greater risk of developing lung cancer than if he or she were married to a nonsmoker. Children who live with parents who smoke are more likely to develop pneumonia or bronchitis in the first two years of life than are children who live in homes where no one smokes.
Pregnant women who smoke endanger their unborn babies. Nicotine, carbon monoxide, and other dangerous chemicals contained in cigarette smoke enter the motherâs bloodstream and pass directly to the child in the womb. The consequences include a greater likelihood of spontaneous abortion, stillbirth, and death among newborns. Moreover, the risk of sudden infant death syndrome is three times higher for babies whose mothers smoked during pregnancy.

2.Corinthians.7; 1 âTherefore, since we have these promises, beloved ones, let us cleanse+ ourselves of every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in Godâs fear.â

Romans 12:1â Consequently I entreat YOU by the compassions of God, brothers, to present YOUR bodies+ a sacrifice living, holy, acceptable to God, a sacred service with YOUR power of reason.â
Matthew 5:8 âHappy are the pure in heart, since they will see God.â

Cleanliness is a quality that belongs to and originated with the holy and clean God, Jehovah. He teaches us to benefit ourselves by becoming holy and clean in all our ways.âIsaiah 48:17; 1 Peter 1:15.

I am a first-time mom (due Sept 10, 2010) but I have been a full-time nanny for 6 years, so I have an idea of what I want/do not want in a stroller/car seat. Ideally, I would like a travel system so that I can place the car seat in the stroller for convenience when my baby is sleeping but they can also be very bulky and heavy for me at 5'2" and 110lbs. Some of the other features I was looking for in a stroller are:

* A seat that fully reclines
* A footrest on the stroller that can be secured so that the stroller can make a bassinet (not one of my priorities, but a nice feature)
* A tray for the child (it doesn't matter to me if there is a cup holder for my son or not because once he can use it the cup will end up on the ground anyway, that's what toddlers do)
* At least one parent cup holder and a storage compartment of some kind near the handle
* A large basket that can be accessed without disturbing a sleeping baby in the fully reclined position
* Straps that are easy to adjust and also easy to open/close with a squirming child either inside or in your arms
* Something that can fold up and fit into the trunk of my mid-size car with room to spare for other essentials or groceries
* Of coarse safety and durability so I can continue to use the stroller until my son is a toddler

In a car seat:

* Straps that are easy to adjust and also easy to open/close with a squirming child either inside or in your arms, especially in harsh weather since the winters here can get bad- I don't want to be fumbling with straps when I'm hanging half outside of my car in a snow storm with my infant
* Comfortable fabric that is soft enough for a newborn but breathable enough not to make him sweaty and uncomfortable in the hot sticky weather - I also don't want anything that will get hot in the sun while it is sitting in my car
* Safety
* Easy to install correctly and know that it is secured properly

I have been in and out of stores devoting hours, sometimes whole days, to trying to find the right combination. I have read reviews on every website I could find and they all contradict each other. The only consistent review I have seen is that the stroller frames (with no seat, the ones you snap your car seat into) are poorly built and the wheels fall off. Other than that, people are often arguing about who's child is bigger and why my child is 8 months and still fits in this car seat and her child is 7 months and can't anymore or whether you should use your stroller/car seat in such and such way. My favorite reviews are the ones that say they have never actually used the product because the baby isn't here yet, but it's so beautiful! That is not helpful.

So, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the topic with their opinions on the features of products they have actually used. Thank you for your time!

Answer
After months of research I found a carseat and a stroller. I havn't tried anything else so I don't really have much to compare them too.

The carseat I chose was the britax chaperone. It's a bit difficult to take in and out, with a 2 door car at least. Rebound bar on base... It's very safe

The stroller is the city mini stroller by baby jogger. My 2 year old nephew sleeps in it as comfortably as my 1 month old. It fully reclines, the part the baby lays on is soft but durable, the straps are easy enough. Comes with a huge basket underneath. It's 3 wheels, the front swivels or locks in place. SO easy to maneuver, can use one hand to push and steer! It's under 17 pounds and all you have to do to fold it is pull a latch and it just collapses. Then you sort of throw it out and it's set up!

The only downside to this stroller is you have to buy the carseat adapter, child tray, parents drink holder separetely, I wouldn't get the adapter, it's easy enough for a baby of any size to sleep comfortably.

When it comes to the carseat, I'm not too sure if that's the best pick, but I wouldn't dream of getting a different stroller now

Is this infant carrier expired?

DawnHollid

The infant carrier/travel system I am wanting to buy was made 05/16/2010. It is the Baby Trend Stride Sport Travel System- All Star. I have looked and found no recalls on this item. My due date to have my son is in July of 2012 so the car seat will be 2 years old. I was wondering if it is still alright to use? I know some manufactures have a 5-6 year warranty. Also, I live in Missouri and I have heard that some hospitals don't except infant carriers that are over a year old.. Is this true?

Answer
Most car seats expire after 5 or 6 years after the manufacture date. I don't think the hospital will notice at all, but I would exercise extreme caution when using a used car seat. You should, of course, check the car seat for visible damage, but sometimes car seats that have been in accidents have hairline, micro-cracks.

I would think it is perfectly acceptable to use. If you do have doubts, however, I would buy another car seat.

You do know that you don't have to use an infant seat, right? You can use a convertible car seat straight from birth; some converitbles don't fit newborns right- (the harness straps should always be below when rear facing and sometimes the lowest harness height is above the shoulders).

If you have any doubt whatsoever, I would recommend purchasing a $50 convertible car seat called the Cosco Scenera 40 lb weight limit.

So when your shopping for you baby which one of these are you going to be getting?

baby travel systems for twins on there is also a solution for you with the First Wheels City Twin ...
baby travel systems for twins image
Q. So are you getting a bassinet? Has anyone ever used one of those pack and plays that double as a bassinet?
Are you getting a crib that converts into the twin bed or just a normal crib?
Are you getting a travel system? I was thinking about one that has the car seat up to 35 pounds, but it's crazy expensive and can't decide if it's worth the money or not. And do travel systems usually come with the base that makes it easy to snap into the car?

Answer
I love my pack and play bassinet. It was given to us by my in-laws, and it was one of the best gifts ever! We had twin girls first, and they shared it for a while until they got bigger, then we put them together in their crib. Now their brother was born last December and he uses it. When they get bigger, just take the hanging part out and they can use it to play in. We've taken to tons of places when the girls were younger and it was a life saver. I loved the attachable changing table too, but I don't use it now.

The travel systems are good, but they're so big. Sometimes I've seen parents struggle to push them around. Yes, I think they come with the car seat base as well.

We just used two normal seats for our girls and a double stroller, then when they turned 1 we got them the front facing "toddler" type seats. For our son we just use a normal car seat and a regular stroller. It was much cheaper for us.

Can any moms of multiples answer some questions please?

;)

Did you use a hands free feeding system?
What items did you find was the most useful while caring for your children?
What bottles do you recommend if you formula fed?
What breast pump do you recommend if you breast fed?
Did you use cloth or disposable? Which was easier?
What equipment did you find the most useful or useless?
Did you co-sleep? If you co-slept, where did baby sleep?
Did you pay for a house cleaning service? If so, which one did you use?

If you have any useful tips or advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Please no rude answers.

Answer
Hi. I have twin sons who will be 4 in August. They were born at 27 1/2 weeks. When they were 4 1/2 months old I became a single mom.

Did you use a hands free feeding system? When the boys were newborns I nursed them at the same time. I just sat in a chair and put a head on each arm, so their feet were facing eachother. I never really perfected the football hold, so I didn't do it. I never used a Boppy with them either, but they do make Boppies for twins. When they had bottles, I laid them on the floor propped up on a pillow (never leave them alone like that) and held a bottle in each of their mouths at the same time. I tried to keep them on the same feeding schedule so they wouldn't be waking up at different times during the night. When they got just a little bigger I got a travel swing that had a bar that goes across the top. I tied a ribbon to the bar and tied a hair elastic on the end of the ribbon. Then I would wrap the hair tie around the bottle and it would hold the bottle upright in the baby's mouth. Sounds wierd, but it really helped out alot so that I could have one on one feeding time with the other twin, then for the next feeding I'd switch.

What items did you find was the most useful while caring for your children? With twins, I think it's super important to have 2 exersaucers for them. It is SO hard to run around after 2 babies trying to keep them out of stuff, so the exersaucer lets them stand up and play, but keeps them safely in one spot :-). The other item that was sooo useful was a pack n play. If I had to run to the bathroom or something like that, I could just put the boys in there and not worry about them being on the bed or floor, etc. You can move the pack n play into the kitchen while you wash dishes, etc. It's really convenient. The last, a DOUBLE STROLLER! If you ever want to leave the house again, buy a double stroller lol. They actually make a frame that you can just clip both carseats onto and it turns them into a stroller. It barely takes up any room and you don't have to worry about taking each baby out of the carseat, which is especailly nice in the winter or when it's raining.

What bottles do you recommend if you formula fed? I never really had a preference in bottles, but if you're going to formula feed you need ALOT of bottles with twins. At LEAST 20, ideally more.

What breast pump do you recommend if you breast fed? I used a Medela breast pump that was rented from Babies R Us. You definitely want an electric pump, because with twins you're going to produce alot of milk and the manual pumps are pretty tiring on the arm.

Did you use cloth or disposable? Which was easier? Disposable diapers all the way. There was absolutely NO way I would have had time to deal with cloth diapers and the messes you'll inevitably get. Take it off, throw it away, and that's that. Not all that "green," but it was the only option that would work for me!

What equipment did you find the most useful or useless? Kind of already touched on this earlier.

Did you co-sleep? If you co-slept, where did baby sleep? I did co-sleep because it was the only way I could sleep. If you plan to co-sleep, I would ONLY do it while holding both babies. Never lay them next to you, because you are going to be SO tired and you don't want to suffocate them. I laid on my back propped on pillows and held one on each arm. My body instinctively knew not to move and we never had a problem. They do make these little co-sleeper thingies that seem really cool. It's like a tiny little cloth box that you can lay on the bed next to you and the baby sleeps in that. I would have bought them for sure if I knew about them back then!

Did you pay for a house cleaning service? If so, which one did you use? HAAAA! I WISH!

My biggest piece of advice: don't be afraid to ask for help. Even if it's a 10 minute break where you do nothing but sit in silence lol. You need to keep your sanity and trust me, twins don't make that easy! Congrats, and good luck!

40 Gallon Tall vs. 29 Gallon Stout?

baby travel systems new zealand on Car Seat Strollers | Convertible Car Seat Reviews Site
baby travel systems new zealand image

Dan

So I've got some baby goldfish, and to tanks. One is 29 gallons, about L 30" x W 18" x H 14", and the other is 40 gallons, about L 32" x W 12" x H 22". I know the 40G has more water volume, but wouldn't it also have less surface area? which is better for my fish in the long run? (or short run)?

Thanks!

Answer
Note 1: 32x12x14 is actually a few gallons less less then 40g, but I'll call it 40g in my response

Note 2: Chad G's response currently ays "By my math the 40G still has 4 inches more "surface area"". Either Chad has accidentally made a big math error (30x18=560 and 32x12=384) or does not understand that only the top surface of the tank matters for surface area considerations, or is is trying to say something that, based on his current answer, I can't quite follow

It's probably best for you to go with the 40g, but there are considerations...

Consideration 1: Water volume
As they say â dilution is the solution to pollution. Water quality is always easier to maintain on a larger tank.
Winner = 40g

Consideration 2: Water oxygenation
The L x W surface area of the tank is not as important as the amount of surface agitation. The ripples created on the water surface from air bubbles and/or a power filter is the action that drastically increases surface area for water oxygenation. At a given temperature the water has a maximum amount of dissolved oxygen holding capacity. You will not be able to âsuper-oxygenateâ the water, and a properly sized filtration system will keep the water fully oxygenated in either tank under normal circumstances.

Consequently, while the 29g has 560 square inches of surface area compared to the 40âs 384, the added surface area is an advantage under only one condition - extended power outages. If you travel and can be gone for a week or two, and live in a region where extended power outages can happen, the 29 gallon tankâs larger surface area is a big deal. (Since there would be nobody to feed the fish rising ammonia levels would not occur. And, surprisingly to many, goldfish can actually survive a week or two without food. (A pair of goldfish survived an incredible 134 days in earthquake-hit New Zealand without any fish food or electricity to power their 100-litre tank.)
Winner = 40g unless you have that one extreme possibility, then the 29g wins.

Consideration 3: Actual water depth with gravel.
If you put 2â of gravel in a 14â tank youâre left with 12â. On my 55g goldfish & koi tank Iâve been experimenting for the last 18 months with the pros and cons of a 5-6â gravel bed (no UGF) rather than a 1-2â bed with UGF. The 12â depth has been fine, and Iâm only moving them to a 100g because theyâve gotten bigger (all six are 4-6 inches not including tail). The extra depth for the tall tank will give the fish more vertical swimming room, but fish primarily swim horizontally, so the extra 2â on the 40g is nice too.
Winner = tie

Consideration 4: Fish grow.
Your goldfish will eventually grow into a 40g tank. But, they will eventually grow out of a 29g tank (and possibly even your 40) â so itâs better to plan for it now. By the time your goldfish grow to need 18â of tank width they will be far beyond the capability of a 29g tank.
Winner = 40g

Note 3: Thanks for clarifying your math error Chad. I didnât point it out to embarrass you I just didnât want Dan to have bad info and I hope you can appreciate that. As for the length of my answer, I was responding to Danâs question, and wanted give him good info to base a decision on. If Dan feels it is too long he can let me know. As for your personal insults toward my education, I think they are out of place.

My partner has been refused a settlement visa to come to uk, i am 5 weeks away from having his baby, and because he was refused been told he would have to apply for a holiday visa to come for 6 months but has now been told he has a very slim chance of being given this visa, does anybody know what we can do to get him here for the birth of his daughter, this has been going on for 14 weeks and thousands of pounds later, i have read he can fly into France without a visa, where i am currently living does anyone know if this is true as i couldn't bare him beng told he has to go home after travelling here please help

Answer
Sorry, but why do you expect answerers reading through your previous questions instead of providing the information required to answer your question. In this particular case the citizenship of your partner..

Anyhow citizen of New Zealand may stay in France without visa for 90 days provided they hold a valid return flight ticket and sufficient funds to cover their stay [⬠62 per day / ~NZ$ 10,000 for 90 days].

What are you going to buy as opposed to registering for it?

baby travel systems with bassinet image

my due

I'm 17 years old and 8 weeks pregnant. My family is not supportive so I'm pretty much going to be doing everything with just the help of my friends and my baby's father. What should I put money away to buy as opposed to registering for it for my baby shower? I'm of course going to get the travel system (carSeat/stroller) , the bassinet , and the outfits for hospital pictures and coming home. Anything else I should get myself instead of just hoping for it?

Answer
What I plan on doing is having my baby shower a few weeks after I find out the sex of my baby. I plan on putting everything I want/need on it. After my baby shower is over, then I can decide more easily what to buy and what not to buy. Hope this helps :)

Edit: Yes, I do plan on buying a crib, swing, changing table, and the other more expensive stuff. But I'd ask for a bouncer, playpen, clothes, bottles, etc.

When can I use the bassinet feature in my child's stroller?

Kayla

How old should my baby be before I start using the bassinet feature in his stroller? We have a Chicco Cortina Travel System. When he's in the bassinet feature should he still be completely in the 5-point safety harness? Is the bassinet feature even safe? Better for some things than others???

Thanks!

Answer
The bassinet feature is there for use from day 1, and you won't be able to use it very long. It's the FIRST stage in a travel system, not something you have to wait before starting to use it.

With the baby flat on his back and in the bassinet (which is the best/safest/healthiest position for a newborn) you don't need the harness. It's not like he can climb out of it.

The only exception would be if you take the stroller on the bus: in a moving vehicle where you can't use the car seat the harness provides extra security. I've once seen a stroller topple over when the bus took a curve (of course that wouldn't have happened if the mother hadn't been irresponsibly holding on to her phone instead of steadying the stroller!) and the baby dropped right out! Horrible to see, and I definitely would have intervened if I had noticed the mother leaving the stroller basically unattended before this happened.
