Before I decide to keep it... anyone know anything about it's safety or do you have it? I can't find any reviews.

Answer
It depends which model you have. They make a lot of different kind of travel system with different features.

we are planning to buy travel system for our 1st baby and after reading all reviews, we kind of confuse between 3 travel system,1:Safety First Safety 1st Acella Sport Travel System, 2:Cosco - Travel System, Thorndale, 3:Graco - LiteRider Travel System with SnugRide.. I love safety1st travel system but i dont know how good is that so if anyone use this and have idea which one is good for 1st time parents..
thanks for ur answer

Answer
Safety 1st and Cosco are the worst carseats on the market. You couldn't pay me to use one. I'd go with the Graco. They're all cheaply made and built and aren't that great in crash tests when compared to the models which have internal steel supports that will protect baby better than the plastic. The only ones that have this are Mia Moda, Britax, Chicco, and Peg Perego seats. I wouldn't waste money on an infant seat when I can spend a couple hundred dollars on a really good steel frame seat (Sunshine Kids Radian, Britax Marathon, Fisher Price Safe Voyage (cheap at 165 dollars) which will hold your child in a 5 pt harness to 65 lbs. You'll only be using the infant seat for the first 3 or 4 mos as a carrier. Baby will outgrow it or will just be too heavy to lug around. Get a good seat and just get a cheap stroller. More economical and safer.

How old should my baby be to put in the shopping cart seat?

Aynne

My baby is not born yet she is due February 26. The thing is I bought a Chicco Cortina traveling system for her. It's the infant car seat and the stroller. I heard it was the best and safest so i bought it. I read a lot of reviews saying the carrier does not fit in the shopping cart where you would sit your baby. So I will have to put her in the big part which I won't be able to put a lot of groceries in there. So I can manage for a while but, when do you think she will be able to sit in the seat? I would like to by a comfy seat thing for her and put her in there as soon as she is able to sit up by her self. I was think 5 months? What's the average age thanks.
Sorry for some weird sentences I got mixed up!

Answer
It's not that the car seat doesn't fit, it's that the shopping cart is not made for car seats, and by putting a car seat on the top of the shopping cart the whole thing becomes unstable and can tip over. This has been a problem for decades, but idiot mothers continued to put the car seat on top, and babies continued to be injured. This is why the shopping carts have infant seats attached for moms who want that, but why the car seats should not be used. You can use the reclined infant seats that are bolted to the shopping carts from day one as far as I'm aware, just put a blanket down first.

The toddler seats you should use when your baby can sit up and at your own discretion. They continue to say that shopping carts are not the safest place for your baby to ride and that if you have a stroller or can wear your baby then that's better/safer.

Leaving your baby in the car seat while you shop leaves your baby in a curved position that interferes with oxygen levels in the blood. There's really no reason to do it. They're heavy and if you drop the car seat you may damage it, not to mention hurting your baby.

I would suggest looking into a baby-carrier. With my first I hauled the infant seat in and out of stores and it was miserable, for her, for us, and for anyone who walked by us who might get bumped by that seat. It was awful. We had backaches and were in pain. When she was old enough to sit in the cart, then I was having to spray the cart with cleaners and use sheets and stuff to try and block the cart from her because H1N1 was going around and she was only a year old about. With my second I bought an Ergo baby carrier. We left the infant seat in the car and carried him in the Ergo when we'd go into places. He LOVED it. He'd snuggle in and go to sleep, I had my arms and hands free for shopping, he was safe and sound and I could kiss him anytime I wanted as well as talk to him face-to-face (which is great for development.) I didn't have to worry about the germs of the cart getting him. Much better. I used that well into his second year, he just loved it better than the cart and I didn't have to worry about it.

Flying Pig

I asked this a little bit ago, but didn't get any answers:

I'm thinking about getting this travel system for my 16 month old and next baby due in Feb. All the reviews I've read were pretty good. does anyone have any experience w/ this stroller system?

Sorry! Graco Quattro Duo.

Answer
Which system are you talking about? You didn't specify. I only have one child, but would be curious to see what it looks like.

What's the best car seat or Stroller System for new borns?

laura

Hi.

I'm having my baby girl in couple weeks, and i haven't bought the car seat, I'm looking a comfortable one for her, could you please help me making this decision by your own experience with the brand.

Thanks.

Answer
Congratulations!

There are two types of car seats that a newborn baby can ride in. One of those types is the infant car seat. This seat comes with a base; the base is installed in the car and the carrier can be clicked in and out of the base. Most infant car seats also come with a travel system, where the carrier can be clicked in the stroller. In other words, this makes the infant car seat transportable. A downside to an infant car seat it that it may not last as long as expected. An infant can outgrow this car seat really quickly (around 6 months for huge babies and 18 months for those petite ones). An infant car seat with a 35 lb rear facing weight limit may not last until a child is 35 lbs. It may last until they are 25 lbs and have outgrown it by height. They are also really heavy. Bring a 12 lb bag of something with you to the store. Place it in the carrier and practice carrying it around.

A car seat needs to protect an infant during a crash, so as a priority, it is important to find an infant car seat that can be correctly installed in your vehicle.

Some infant car seats I recommend based on its features that make it easy to install:
-Graco Snugride 30 (or the 35 model)
-Safety 1st Onboard 35
-Cosco Comfy Carry Elite (must be the "Elite" or "Elite Plus" model)
-Chicco KeyFit 30
-Britax B-Safe
-Britax Chaperone
-Cybex Aton

All of these infant car seats above allow the handle to be left "up" in the carrier postion. I would never recommend a car seat made by BabyTrend or Evenflo because these manufacturers require the handle to be moved after the infant carrier has been clicked in. It is just one more thing to remember and a pain.

An infant needs their car seat reclined at 45 degrees. This can take up a ton of front-to-back space in the vehicle. Britax infant car seats take up the most room. Then Graco takes a little less. Then Chicco takes less Graco. The Cybex Aton takes the least amount of front-to-back space, but it is expensive for how long it lasts.

The Comfy Carry Elite Plus as a lot of features and is really affordable (about $70). Here is a review of it: http://carseatblog.com/10346/dorel-safety-1st-comfy-carry-elite-plus-infant-carseat-review/

Another type of infant car seat is a convertible car seat. A convertible car seat stays installed in the car, which doesn't make it transportable. When a child is rear facing, the harness straps need to be adjusted at or slightly below the child's shoulders. This means that the lowest set of harness strap slots need to be low enough to fit a newborn's torso. Slots less than 7 to 8 inches will fit most full term newborns. Look at lower slots 5 to 6 inches to fit smaller babies. Some convertibles come with infant inserts that are placed either under or over the cover. These are used to lift a baby up so that the harness fits them better.

Parents who use a convertible car seat use an infant carrier such as a sling, wrap, or the ergo to carry their baby around. Like Bobbi said, having a stroller that folds flat is best. It is best for a baby to lie flat instead of in a reclined position.

Convertible car seats that will fit full-term newborns (some will fit even preemies):
-Chicco Next Fit
-Evenflo SureRide
-Graco My Ride 65 (or 70 model)
-Maxi Cosi Pria 70 (must be with the tinyfit system)
-Peg Perego Primo Viaggio
-First Years True Fit
-Evenflo Symphony 65 e3
-Evenflo Triumph 65

Besides the Graco My Ride 65, these convertible car seats could last a child from birth to age 5 to 6. The Graco My Ride 65 might last to age 4 to 5, depending on your child's height (too many variables to determine).

Besides these convertibles, the Cosco Scenera, Cosco Apt, Safety 1st Onside Air, Evenflo Tribute and Graco ComfortSport also fit newborns great; however, they will not be a child's last car seat with the harness as these will only last to a child to approximately age 2 to 3.

How much would you pay for a used Gravo travel system?

just hones

It is used, of course, but still in very good condition.

A friend is looking for a Gravo travel system to use for her daughter once she is born. I am looking to sell mine but am unsure how much to ask for it. We paid around $220 for it at Babies R Us.

It is this model; http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/b/0/0/5d/5/AAAACx-zCSMAAAAAAF1fIw.jpg%3Fv%3D1248013023000&imgrefurl=http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/graco-travel-system-stroller--elyse&usg=__MuLniSHHwdLuhPURGN1yScgLOX0=&h=220&w=220&sz=15&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=F0DwgdP82UbseM:&tbnh=136&tbnw=136&ei=68HvTZCMA-Ti0QHflb3bAw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dgraco%2Belyse%2Btravel%2Bsystem%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D780%26bih%3D422%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=298&vpy=93&dur=1000&hovh=176&hovw=176&tx=54&ty=114&page=1&ndsp=8&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0&biw=780&bih=422

Answer
I'd pay $50. Anything more than that and I can buy new. Maybe not the same model but new nonetheless.

What's the best travel system stroller to buy?

Ari

I looked at the UPPA baby Vista but some reviews say it's two heavy. Opinions on the UPPA Vista and suggestions of what other stroller may be better please. I want one with a bassinet and the option to add some kind of other seat if I have another baby soon after. Thanks!

Answer
Have you watched Baby Gizmo on YouTube, she tests out pushchairs and travel systems.
She has done the Baby Vista review, I forgot what she said about it though.
She has also done Phil And Ted, BOB, etc.
