Q. I have a baby travel system and it looks like this

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d...

It was left out on the front porch and has mold speckles on it. Tiny little dots. Not all over it though. Just in spots. I need to know how to get the mold off. I have taken it all apart. Struggeling fianancially right now so i need to sell it. But want to get the most out of it. HELP!!!!!!

Answer
you need to kill the mold first. If you get it wet the mold will spread. Sunlight is the best way to kill mold. Just leave it in the sun all day, then clean it. Don't try to hide the mold, you do not want to give the decease mold cause to a little baby.

Can you jog with a newborn in a car seat attached to a jogging stroller?

I know that babies are not supposed to be placed in joggers until they are around six months old. However, my jogging stroller is a travel system and has an carrier infant car seat that can be attached to the jogging stroller very securely. So, can I run with the baby in the car seat or is this really only supposed to be utilized if I am walking with the stroller?

Answer
Yes, you can run if the seat securely attaches to the jogger. Just make sure you have it locked in according to the directions and make sure your infant is buckled up before running (And use a head stabilizer). Also, use the little leash they give you that attached to the jogger when you run.

*We're talking about jogging, not relay sprinting, folks. Children jostle more in a car driving at 25 mph than in a secured infant carrier on a track. Light jogging after 6 weeks on an indoor track is quite safe.

What is the best jogging stroller at an affordable price?

I am looking for a good jogging stroller. I have a 19 month old son and I have been using the Graco travel system stroller when I go walking jogging. I go almost every morning and bring my son with me. The Graco stroller is not ideal for jogging because it has 4 wheels and I struggle and get tired very easily when I start to jog. Anyone have any suggestions?

Answer
Jogging strollers can get pretty expensive. You can get the Baby Trend Expedition jogging stroller for a decent price. Its not the best jogger out there but great for the price!

Check it out: http://www.stroller-obsession.com/baby-trend-jogging-stroller.html

Looking for a second hand one is a good idea too, I second that!

Good luck!

Carrying a 1 month old baby on an airplane?

baby travel system definition image

Karla

I will be carrying my 1 month old on an international flight, he will not have his own seat. Am I allowed to bring an infant car seat/carrier?

Anyone who has been in this situation, would you rather not have the car seat with you? Are you allowed to bring the seat on the plane?

Answer
I'm a former Flight Attendant who flies a lot now with my own children. My youngest, age 3 1/2, just finished her 6th round-trip trans-Atlantic flight. She has had her car seat on all but one of those flights, when Air France wouldn't let me use my U.S. carseat. I even used it on this last flight. Each and every time it's been a very good idea!!

Most airlines allow seats. Some low-cost carriers, like Ryan Air (Irish) actually ban all car seats for children. By contrast, all American companies accept them if your seat is FAA certified;
http://www.faa.gov/passengers/fly_children/crs/
Most car seats sold in the U.S. are certified.

If you are not flying a U.S. company, check with your individual airlines to find out about their policy and whether your seat will be accepted.

Actually, having a car seat is the only way to fly safely with a baby. Lap held children are allowed because there's so little chance of anything happening. If anything does, the child is not protected.

Using the car seat onboard is great because you can move around in your own seat without having the baby in your arms all the time. When she or he slept, I'd slide them into their familiar seat and get a little snooze (or bathroom, or cup of tea) myself. Most of my trans-Atlantics have been me alone with three kids for 11 1/2 and 10 1/2 hours. Having the seat saved my sanity!

Also, using the seat onboard virtually guarentees that it will reach your destination in good shape. Checking them risks the seat being lost or damaged (or both!). I hate seeing seats with lost luggage!

If you have not purchased a ticket, ask that the seat next to you be held, if the flight isn't full. They often do this for families.

If you do manage to be able to use the seat on board, make sure your baby is in it for take-off and landing. These are the (hate using this wording but...) the most dangerous parts of the flight. It's very important that she or he is strapped in.

Many flying tips will say to make the baby suck during take-off and landing to help their ears. This is inaccurate. The baby can drink during ascent (after take-off) or even when he or she wakes up inflight. ENT specialists recommend that the baby be awake about an hour before landing (not necessarily drinking). Landing is too late.
http://www.entcda.com/AAOHNSF/earsandaltitude.htm

If you seat is part of a travel system, bring that or get a stroller frame. Both work fine and both can be left at the door of the aircraft.

Still try to get a bulkhead seat. Bassinets are great but rare, especially on U.S. companies.

Just some extra tips;
-Bring about 1/3 more supplies than you think you'll need, formula, diapers, wipes, etc.
-Bring a change of clothes for both of you (at least a T and shorts for you)
-wrap everything bulky, like clothes and extra diapers in plastic bags, and use rubber bands to reduce the bulk and save space in your carry-on
-If you formula feed, use the kind of bottles with plastic liners. Premeasure the powder, roll them up and put them in a ziplock bag. Airplane bathrooms have bad sinks for washing traditional bottles.
-Make sure you baby is used to a room-temperature bottle. I warmed many a bottle in my career but I saw first-hand what a pain it is. The baby isn't getting any health-advantage to the warmed bottle and no one will do this task while you're in the security or check-in line.
-Get a really good carrier like a pouch, wrap or sling. Leave any "front packs" like the Bjorn at home. Killer for the back, even for a small baby. Plus, a good carrier (which should go to at least 2 years by definition) can double as a blanket, suncover and baby changer! They are also magical for calming a baby during the flight.

I have to say I have both breast and bottlefed my kids. I worked for 13 years and had many, many breastfeeding women, of various levels of descretion. I have never, ever had a problem with a breastfeeding woman on any of our flights, nor have I heard of any. I have breastfed all three of mine, two of which never had bottles or formula and who did nurse into toddlerhood. Both the airlines and my fellow passengers were cool about it so don't let anyone tell you differently!

Besides, those baby carriers I just recommended make great cover-ups for breastfeeding too ;)

About 8 years ago, I wrote an article on flying with children for an expat newsletter. Over the years many parents have contributed, both on line and in Real Life. I put it on a blog so there would be non-commercial information from someone with both practical and professional experience on the web. Feel free to visit;
http://flyingwithchildren.blogspot.com

It's a great age to travel. He or she will probably mostly sleep and even if she or he cries, it's kind of quiet so it wont disturb people. My little fliers did great, including my own 4 month olds the first time. I wish it were so simple now...

Have a great trip!

Are you a mom who's older and so overjoyed by it?

Tally

My son is 7 months and while watching tv last night he started clapping on his own. He says, "mama", "hi", "dada" and my hubby and I are just so excited by everything he does.

We waited such a long time (I'm 36 and my hubby is 44) to have our little baby and now everything is so amazing.

Thanks for answering my question. :)

Answer
Not sure what your definition of 'older' is but I I had my child at 28 which I believe its older than the average. Anyway, but I'm elated to have waited this long. I feel a lot more prepared, more mature and can easily tackle any problem that has to do with my daughter. I have absolutely enjoyed my daughter to my fullest so far (I was able to get all my partying and traveling out of my system!)

I really feel stupid for buying this car seat, I jumped the gun and purchased it because I fell in love with the design, I now wish that I had purchased a full travel system. I was wondering if anyone knew if there is a stroller that will allow me to attach the car seat to it. I do not want a frame, I want to purchase something I can use when my baby gets older, too.

Answer
I know you don't want to buy a frame (one you just sit a car seat it, not actual stroller) but take it from me, after they grow out of the infant car seat, you really aren't going to want to use a huge travel system stroller anyway. Just buy a cheap frame type thing or even a sling for now. Then later when your child is around 5 months old use a lightweight stroller. Chicco make a $50 or $60 lightweight stroller that is really nice. I have a Maclaren that is lightweight and i never use my big bulky stroller. In fact, my daughter is 21 months and i'm thinking about selling it at our garage sale next week. Invest in a really good lightweight stroller instead, you'll be happy you did later!

I'm trying to find the best one for me, so I was interested in what some of you have bought or suggest and from where. I'm looking for something that is compact but not cheaply made in material. Also I would like something soft, I noticed many of these strollers and seats have that plastic or 'track suit' feel to them. Any suggestions?

Answer
None are. Seriously, the way babies grow you will use the car seat for about 6 months before the infant grows out of it (our infants were out by around 4 months), and most systems are clunky and poorly made. Get yourself a Maclaren that folds down and has a car seat adapter or some other brand that does instead, you'll use it a heck of a lot longer.

??? im writing an essay about the us health care system... which i know nothing about. if anyone would like to elaborate on maybe.. the comparison between the health care system in the us and other countries, and what how the us might attempt to fix these problems, it would help SO much. I need some basics... health care for dummies.. and then some. its hard to write an essay on something you know nothing about. i've tried to research, but it seems that everything i find is for people who already know what theyre talking about.

Answer
The NHS (Great Britain's National Health Care System) started in the very way American health care reform was promoted by the Democrats, the left and Obama. More than sixty years ago, Britain's original plan was to provide universal care to the half of the population - mainly women, children and the elderly - who had no health coverage.

In the United States Obama has decided to exploit 10% of the uninsured as a means to coerce the other 90% to submit to a system the majority rejects.
http://www.cato.org/pubs/catosletter/catosletterv3n1.pdf
Barry, Harry and Nancy, the tyrannical trio, are in the process of imposing health care reform at a time when the world watches in horror as the British prototype falls apart.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1255842/Mother-Aida-Los-fury-babys-death-crisis-hit-John-Radcliffe-Hospital.html

Unable to sustain the high cost of "free" health care, Britain's NHS officially hit the rocks and its crumpled body is presently lying dead at the bottom of a socialist ravine. Yet, the President remains resolute in his desire to push America over a similar precipice, well aware that rationing is in America's future

To save money in an already abysmal health care system, Britain plans to implement further rationing. Unbeknownst to the British people, lines will be even longer for ill-fated patients destined to die of dehydration at the hands of "lazy" nurses in understaffed government run hospitals.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1255858/Neglected-lazy-nurses-Kane-Gorny-22-dying-thirst-rang-police-beg-water.html

In the future, if traveling to England, tourists should also be prepared to see many more crippled, blind people with crooked teeth, because the NHS plans to judiciously mete out knee and hip replacements, cataract surgery, and orthodontic procedures.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/7908742/Axe-falls-on-NHS-services.html
Yet, Obama presses on.

British patient advocate groups are calling the draconian NHS measures "astonishingly brutal." An overbite is nothing compared to what "free" health care, akin to the type Obama promises Americans, will be delivering to our friends across the pond, especially the elderly. Apparently, "widespread cuts ... have already been agreed to by senior health service officials," better known in America as "death panels." - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aogCaGv9i78&feature=player_embedded

Maybe one day when the world acknowledges the injustice of denying care to the elderly, there will be an exhibition similar to the shoe heap http://remember.org/jacobs/ShoeHeap.html at the Auschwitz-Birkenau museum, only the pile will be comprised of discarded walkers. o_O

Is AIDS carried to the child if the sperm is contaminated through artificial egg insemination?

blueblaze_

Is AIDS carried to the child if the sperm is contaminated through artificial egg insemination?
Lets say the man has AIDS. Does his sperm carry the virus with which he fertilizes the egg with, which has been taken out of the female for artificial insemination? Meaning is the child going to have the virus if his sperm fuses with an egg. If so, is there a way to prevent the virus from going to the child?

Answer
From what I understand, when the sperm enters the female body or artificially inseminated, the AIDS virus can't do anything dangerous at that point (except for infecting the woman). AIDS doesn't infect the fetus because at that point there are little remaining virus cells in comparison to the point at which the zygote is. And also the AIDS virus is a large one as cell size goes, that is why it can't be contracted from simple skin contact, it has to enter through a larger opening such as a cut. So as an over view, the AIDS virus won't infect the fetus fast enough before it dies and there really isn't anything to infect, but later on there may be some problems.

If the mother has the AIDS virus there is a 50% chance that the baby will be born with it. The reason is that AIDS generally travels through the blood stream and that may pass through the ambilical cord. Though it may do this, it still may not infect the child. As I said the AIDS virus is large and may just pass through there blood system, and that is where it goes back to the mothers bloodstream. Though the virus can still be contract in other manners and in the birthing process. So its a 50-50 chance if done properly.

How do mermaids make little baby peoples?

SneffleLef

I've always wanted to know how mermaid people make little baby people if they exist? I mean really, people say they exist but then how could they reproduce if so? Do they just convert people into mermaids like vampires. Or Like what?

Answer
Im not sure exactly the merpeople I seen were traveling with whales. They could be all male or female. I have gotten reports of them being washed up on the beach's with whales near Washington but the people with extra rights and law always take them and say it was a seal. Ive seen there blue skin but no reproductive organs so Im thinking there uni sexual. From what pacific islanders have told me is that they have seen them swim up with there babies I belief they have to take a few breaths of oxygen in order for there type of respiratory system to breath under water. I wish I could learn more but they are not well documented and it seems the government wants them hidden until they slowly die off. I suggest if you can find the right people or have the right money to search deeper. they have a migration with the whales that goes from Washington out coasting to pacific caverns. They also have another one way off the coast of south Africa but watch out because the minute you embark on the journey out there even if its not maliciousness the government collaboration will send you back home.

When is the best time to travel to India and Bangladesh. I would love to get some festivals into the it also.?

jas

I am Nigeria and live in Nigeria, Africa. I would love to travel to India and Bangladesh for a vacation, I would spend about three weeks. So I would love to know when to go, how i can go about getting visas, where exactly should i go to get the experience. How much should i budget, travel arrangements. what i should take. All the neccessary details.

Answer
The best time to visit Bangladesh is in the winter when the weather is dry and fresh.

Therefore, it is advisable to visit Bangladesh from mid-October to the end of February.

VISAS: Bangladesh visas are valid for six months from the date of issue and are good for stays of one to three months. The country adheres to 'reciprocal' arrangements, which means the government generally charge visitors whatever their respective country charges for Bangladesh nationals. It is recommended you obtain your visa before departing; they may be difficult to get upon arrival at the airport. It may often be more efficient to write 'business' than 'tourist' for some strange reason.

Places To Check Out

a) SUNDARBAN MANGROVES: The Sundarbans are the largest mangrove forest in the world, stretching 80km into the Bangladeshi hinterland from the coast. The Sundarbans cover an area of 38,500 sq. km, of which about one-third is water. It is optimistically estimated that there are around 400 Royal Bengal tigers (of which you'll never see one -- and be grateful for it) and several thousand spotted deer in the area. Realistically don't expect to see much other than a few crocs sunbathing in the mud and a few species of migratory birds in the winter. Either to or from Dhaka, the 'Rocket' or colonial paddle-wheeler is the most exciting way to arrive at or depart from Khulna city. To get deep enough into the mangroves takes several days of river journey each way.

b) COX'S BAZAR: Bangladesh's main beach resort is near the Myanmar border in an area where Rohingya refugees have settled to escape persecution in Myanmar over the centuries. It has a slight Burmese Buddhist flavor and has basic amenities to service the visitors attracted by its enormous expanse of shark-free beach. Get out of the 'hotel district' and wander around the tribal and residential areas. South of Cox's Bazar are secluded beaches where having a swim can still be a private experience. A short speed boat journey away is Maheskhali Island, where there is an ancient Hindu temple (during February there is a huge gathering for Siva Ratri) and Buddhist shrines in the tribal area where you can see and purchase beautiful handloom cloth directly from the tribal women weavers. You can also observe sea salt production and shrimp farming.

c) RANGAMATI: A lush and verdant rural area belonging to the Chakma tribe, is open to visitors, as is Kaptai Lake. The lake, ringed by thick tropical and semi-evergreen forests, looks like nothing else in Bangladesh. While the lake itself is beautiful, the thatched fishing villages located on the lake shore are what make a visit really special. Boats which visit the villages leave from Rangamati. Bring your swimming gear because you can take a plunge anywhere. The town itself is crowded with baby taxis and becoming increasingly polluted. Avoid holidays and Fridays when hundreds of Bengali 'picnickers' converge in crowded buses, each competing with the loudest cinema music screaming tape systems mounted on the roofs.

Budget (US$50 per day basis):
a) You can stay in hotel with room-rent as low as US$20 to 30 per night with. There are some cheaper hotels too where US$10 may also do the job, but not with many amenities.

b) Food would cost somewhere from US$10 to 20.

c) Please try to travel light, since you would find very cheap clothing of international brand-names, thanks to our flourishing garments industries.

d) Keep routine medication available though we have most of the medicines available in Bangladesh with adequate number of physicians to attend any emergency.

Note of caution: There were a few cases here where some people from Africa were arrested for carrying contraband items. This is not to undermine anybody, but it was reported that the travelers were lured or mislead to carry such items by unscrupulous people of the racket.

Wish you nice stay in Bangladesh.

We just assemble our baby travel system and i wanna ask you guys experience if you wash it or not. If yes, which way is best : washing machine or by hands? Or you just use the wipe/washcloth to clean it?

Thanks!

Answer
Well, you should first read the Care Instructions. I was totally pro wash everything for my baby with Seventh Generation hypoallergenic detergent for babies until I read the DO NOT MACHINE WASH tag on my stroller travel system. I say go by the Care Instruction. If machine wash is not recommended then I say make a water and vinegar mix and wipe the fabric down. Vinegar is a very, very effective yet harmless cleaner.

Do you think a light pink baby travel system will get too dirty?

;-)

I have seen a travel system that I want if I have a girl. It's a graco and it's light pink. Would it get dirty fast because it is light pink? Or should I buy another color?
I don't plan on having anymore children.

Answer
I bought a dark blue Graco stroller when I was pregnant with my first. We got a lot of use out of it! Then when baby #2 showed up we bought a dark blue tandem stroller which I hated! That thing didn't turn well. Anyway we used the first stroller with the second baby too. And it seems no matter how clean you try to keep it, if you're using it A LOT like we did it always gets a bit dirty. I'd have to think that on pink it would really show more. I'm guilty of looking at a pink one myself now~~my kids are 8 & 6 so I long ago sold all my baby stuff and now I'm pregnant again!!

Even though I like this pink one I don't dare buy it. I have no idea what I'm having yet, plus I plan to be pregnant at least one more time after this and if that's a boy, I don't think he'll appreciate the pink stroller!

How can I find a job in another country?

baby travel systems in south africa image

Chris

I'm currently an OSU student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marketing and International Business but I may change to International Business and Finance. I am currently looking at leaving the states to find a job because the idea of foreign travel has always excited me and being someone who appreciates a good challenge I would like to work hard. I am looking for a business carrier in some country other than the United States, preferably a country with a larger manufacturing base than the States because the level of consumption here is simply unsustainable and I for-see the population aging and there being a large demand for jobs but the US entering a catastrophic depression because of the lack of consumer spending in the market. After the baby boomers finish retiring their peak spending years will be over and i'm for-seeing a massive withdrawal of business in the US.

This long confusing reason is really the main reason I would like to find a job in another country that is more economically sustainable and not basing their economy on the US dollar. Countries that fit this criteria that I have looked at are primarily non EU countries and not China. Australia, Turkey, and perhaps someplace like Johannesburg are like this so could someone please tell me if my ideas make sense and how I could find a job in another country if I don't have ties with anywhere but the US or Turkey?

Answer
I see.....I have been contemplating the same thing for many reasons for ~ 2 years now and I have come across many college students who have the same concerns but do NOT under any circumstance want to talk about it in detail. What you have laid out is also the main reason why Medical jobs are currently on the rise Nursing and Doctors are going to be in demand over the next ~20 years.........but what about beyond that ?

I have come to the conclusion that perhaps it is best to immigrate to a country that has the following:

1.Responsibility to its citizens

2.Has political and financial freedom

3.Speaks English

4.Has a system somewhat close to that of the US.

5.Responsible Universal health-care

6.Will be around strategically close to the BRIC countries but not influenced by them.

Australia or New Zealand fits this criteria.Your South Africa idea is NOT a good idea and you should check out the Britishexpat.com forums to see why.Your degree in International Business and Finance can also open a lot of doors around the world but mainly in developing countries.

20th bday??

Jkerns

Ok, so I know its not a HUGE deal, but I haven't celebrated a birthday since I was like ... 8.

Other than like dinner, I have a pretty lame birthday past. So this year, I want to do something fun.

I am turning 20 Feb 8th, and I want to go somewhere that my bf and our friends wont be bored at (they are all 24-28yrs) I am the baby of the group :(

I have NO idea what to do, or where I can go for my birthday, so any ideas??

We can either stay in the bay area, or go to Sac or whatever, I have friends all over the place, so traveling is not an issue.

Answer
Right, this is what you do for a "bring and braai" as we call it in South Africa:

Get one of your friends to sponsor their house. Somewhere that's big, without breakables everywhere and with a pool if you can.

Get a sound system from someone and burn a few MP3 CDs with your favorite tracks on them. Remember: Your birthday, your music!

Get a BBQ grill and a lot of wood. Get mixers for those who drink. Get a few 6-packs and bottles of your favorite drinks. Get your girlfriends to help you make a few salads and have enough meat for just you and your boyfriend.

Now here's the invite. Tell your friends to bring their own meat and liquor. No, it's not to be stingy, but when everyone brings different cuts and drinks you have a smogasboard of things to chose from! You can chill their for a few hours and then you can go out later tonight if you guys wanted.

Just remember to help your friend clean up the next day, or you won't have a friend left!

I am looking at the Graco Travel System for my upcoming baby, it's the stroller and car seat combo where the car seat comes with a base that can stay in the car so you can take the carrier part out without unbuckling and awakening your baby. I'm wondering if the base is needed to lock the car seat into the stroller, or if the base is only for the car?

Answer
The base if for the car only. The car seat will fit into the stroller securely with out it :) Congrats on the baby!

How long did your baby stay in a 22 pound limit car seat?

;-)

Hi everyone,

I am having a baby boy in 10 weeks, and I just got his travel system. The car seat limit is 22 pounds and 29 inches. I want him to stay in the car seat for as long as possible. How long did your baby stay in a 22 pound car seat?

Thanks : )

Answer
My daughter was over a year, but I thought she was looking scrunched so I switched to a convertible at that time. She's very small though.

If I had a choice now, I'd go with something like the Graco-65 that goes backwards from 5-40lbs. It's what we plan on with our next baby.

The car seat you get with the travel system, is that going to last and turn into a seat you can use as your baby grows or is that only an infant seat? I am a first time mother and am trying to get everything I need, but this one has kind of stumped me.
Can I covertible carseat be used as a rear facing infant seat?

Answer
The seat that comes with a stroller is an infant only, rear facing only seat. Most infants outgrow their infant seat at 4-6 months, as most only go to 20-22lbs. and 26inches or so. The only one that is bigger is the Graco SafeSeat Step 1. Its made to hold up to 30lbs. They claim that 97% of infants will fit in the seat until their 1st birthday. A convertible car seat will do both rear and front facing. You 'convert' it front facing when the baby has reaches the limits for rear facing. NOTE: Keep babies rear facing AS LONG AS POSSIBLE!! Not just to 20lbs/1year. That is the bare minimum for when you can. Their bones are too fragile to properly withstand crash forces, and rear facing is the safest position.

The infant carriers are convenient, but quite frankly, a sling is a heck of a lot more convenient, and slings like the Maya wraps (and lots of look alikes) can be used in 4-5 different ways up to 40lbs! I HATE seeing babies constantly put in their carriers. Babies were meant to be held, not put in seats all the time. Also, infant car seats were meant to be used in the car or stroller - not everywhere else. Even the manual usually states: 'not for use in the house, boat, or anywhere else besides a passenger vehicle'. So, if you use them correctly, they really aren't all that convenient. I mean, have you ever tried carrying around a 15lbs baby in a carrier? UGH! Painful. A sling is easier and allows your hands to be free (much better for grocery shopping, dining, etc. you name it!) Also, babies like it better.

You don't have to have an infant carrier. Depending upon the size of your baby, you could put him straight into a convertible. If you're going to do that, spring for a convertible that has the infant padding in it, otherwise it may not work. That should be fine as long as baby is 5lbs or over. If you're really looking to cut costs, I'd cut the infant seat out of your shopping plan. You'll have to get a convertible when he outgrows the infant seat anyways, so an infant is an extra. The best convertibles are ones with high harness slots and high weight limits both rear and front facing. Here's some to look at:
Fisher Price Safe Voyage, up to 33lbs rear facing, up to 55lbs forward facing, 17" top slots. Made by Britax, without the bells and whistles at a fraction of the cost! $130
Britax Marathon/Decathalon/Boulevard: all 3 same shell, up to 33lbs rear facing, up to 65lbs front facing, 17" top slots. Decathalon and Boulevard have the infant cushioning. Britax seats have built-in lockoffs so you never have to use a locking clip again! Wide belt paths make it easier to use, too. Many seats can cut and scrape your hands when you try and install them. They sound expensive, but they last longer than most other convertibles. $269 and up

Sunshine Kids Radian65 and Radian80. Both rear face to 33lbs, front face to 65lbs/80lbs. Top slots 18". GREAT seat if it fits in your car. $199, I believe. Lasts a LONG time, saves on buying other seats.

So, if you're looking to save money, actually skip Walmart, they're seats won't hold many kids long enough because of low weight limits and low harness slots. If you've got a tiny child, it'd be ok, but for average or big kids it won't work. Kids should be harnessed AS LONG AS POSSIBLE! No 4-year-olds in boosters, please!

What happens if you introduce solids to your baby too late?

Q. My son is not ready for solids (3 1/2 months), but I was wondering if there was negative results of introducing solids too late. And when is the latest you should introduce solids?

Answer
solids should be introduced anytime between 6-8 months .. before that they do nothing for nutrition .. the baby's intestines are still not mature enough to absorb much from them before 6 months ..if they are given its just to dveelop different tastes ..

When should I introduce solid food to my baby?

You can introduce solids any time between 4 and 6 months if your baby is ready. Until then, breast milk or formula provides all the calories and nourishment your baby needs and can handle. His digestive system simply isn't ready for solids until he nears his half-birthday.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that babies be breastfed exclusively for at least six months â though parents will attest that some babies are eager and ready to eat solids earlier.
How will I know when my baby's ready?

Your baby will give you clear signs when he's ready to move beyond liquid-only nourishment. Cues to look for include:

* Head control. Your baby needs to be able to keep his head in a steady, upright position.
* Losing the "extrusion reflex." To keep solid food in his mouth and then swallow it, your baby needs to stop using his tongue to push food out of his mouth.
* Sitting well when supported. Even if he's not quite ready for a highchair, your baby needs to be able to sit upright to swallow well.
* Chewing motions. Your baby's mouth and tongue develop in sync with his digestive system. To start solids, he should be able to move food to the back of his mouth and swallow. As he learns to swallow efficiently, you may notice less drooling â though if your baby's teething, you might still see a lot of drool.
* Significant weight gain. Most babies are ready to eat solids when they've doubled their birth weight (or weigh about 15 pounds) and are at least 4 months old.
* Growing appetite. He seems hungry â even with eight to ten feedings of breast milk or formula a day.
* Curiosity about what you're eating. Your baby may begin eyeing your bowl of rice or reaching for a forkful of fettuccine as it travels from your plate to your mouth.

Pushchair suggestions for a 2 year old and newborn twins?

Joey

I'm helping my cousin shop around. She doesn't drive and stays home with the kids, so a travel system isn't really essential, but she does like to go to the market every day and buy fresh meat and veg, and she's been unable to do that. They have a cheap buggy for Scarlett, the older girl, and bought a second seat unit for their Baby jogger City Select (Scarlett's original pushchair), which they're using for the twins, but she really needs another adult to be out with her for this to work every day, and she lives a fair distance from close family and most of her friends work most days or are in university (she's 23, btw, not some teen with 3 kids....), so can you leave some suggestions?

We keep seeing the obaby triple but that's not very realistic for hard wearing daily use, and isn't suitable for the twins.

Answer
This is a big stroller but it may fit your cousin's needs:
The Joovy Big Caboose. It is a sit and stand stroller, with two seats that take car seats for the newborns, and a padded bench for the two year old. However, the older child might still be too young for the platform, so please check this out carefully before committing to buy.

2. Combi Savvy Soho

The five-point harness adds safety. Some models come with a matching bag, too.

The aluminum frame, all-wheel suspension and removable diaper bag are the standout features of the Britax Preview stroller.

5. Zooper Waltz

This stroller also comes with a rain shield and a winter boot to keep baby's toes warm.

6. Chicco Caddy
The Chicco Caddy is a sturdier version of a basic umbrella stroller. At 11 pounds, the Chicco Caddy is lightweight, but has features normally found on standard strollers. The strong anodized aluminum frame sets this stroller apart from other flimsy umbrella stroller models.

7. Inglesina Swift
Ergonomic handles make this lightweight stroller easy on a parent's hands, while the four-position reclining seat adds comfort for baby. The Inglesina Swift has a foot pedal mechanism for folding and features a sunshade, storage basket and five-point harness. Reflective piping is a nice safety feature for families who walk or travel a lot at night. The Swift stroller weighs 11 pounds and holds babies up to 35 pounds.

8. Peg Perego Pliko
Peg Perego was able to pack a lot of convenience features into 16 pounds with the Pliko stroller. This stylish, lightweight baby stroller even features a rear footboard that allows a second child to ride. The Pliko stroller also has a universal carseat strap that allows any infant seat to be attached to the stroller. With a washable seat, carrying handle, height-adjust handles, large basket, swing-open child tray and reclining seat, the only downside to this stroller is price (nearly $300).

whats the difference between a full stroller and a travel system stroller?

bleh bleh

i'm looking at the strollers in the babies r us website and i can't help but notice they have 3 different kinds of strollers. the jogging stroller is easy enough to figure out but i can't seem to tell the difference between the full strollers and the travel system strollers. whats the difference?

Answer
Travel system is a infant car seat/carrier and stroller. A plain stroller will not have an attachable infant car seat. You need to decide which way you will go. You can do a travel system or you can do a stroller and convertible car seat (one that is rated for 5lbs and over) It's just personal preference.
