What do you think of baby trend products?

<3

I had never considered anything other than Graco really because it's all my family has ever used & with my first that's all I used however today I went to babies r us and found a jogger travel system that I absolutely loved! it seemed much more sturdy than the graco because the graco was made of all plastic.... so I checked out babytrend.com and found all these things graco didn't offer.. but I'm wondering how safe the products are??

Answer
Baby Trend products do not have the best reputation. Many of my friends and myself had had problems with the seat back adjuster of the stroller snapping, sending the child back. The locking front wheel for jogging also tends to come unlocked when you are using it. The Baby Trend infant car seats receive good ratings but the handle must be down when he seat is used in the car making it difficult to use in many vehicles.
To put it simply, the seats are safe when used properly although it is a little difficult. the strollers are not reliable.

Travel system strollers...?

Boston's M

I had the baby trend jogging stroller and travel system (it came with a car seat as well!) The harnesses had a major issue and it was no longer safe. I am weary to go with baby trend again and was wondering if some mommies could give me some advice on TRAVEL SYSTEM strollers they have used and recommend. We are looking for another jogger that is a travel system (Has car seat with stroller). Any advice would be great! Thank you!

Answer
My advice is to find a jogging stroller you really like with the features you want. All jogging strollers can hold a baby car seat- you do not have to buy a "system." A lot of them have a converter piece that you attach to the stroller that the seat will lock into. Plus, the infant car seats are all essentially the same. You won't find much variation there so you can pick whatever you would like too.

As for the stroller it's important to figure out what you intend for it. Are you going to run, jog, light jogging, power walking or just strolling? If you are going to run or jog it is important to get a quality jogging stroller and they are not all created equal! If you will be doing light jogging, power walking or strolling then save the extra cash you would spend on a jogging stroller and get a regular stroller (the less wheels the better.)

If you need any help, I have tested many, many strollers and owned quite a few. (I'm picky...lol.) Just message me and I will do my best.

What do you think of the Baby Trend brand stroller/car seat travel system?

wonderingi

Particularly the "Venture" style. And, did anyone order it direct from the website? If so, where can you take it if there is a problem?

Answer
Love the stroller, hate the car seat, would never buy the travel system.

You can try out the strollers or at least some of the models at Target and Toys R Us/Babies R Us. I love them, they're comfortable for my kids, easy to maneuver, easy to go through sand, dirt, grass, whatever, and I haven't tried out a nicer stroller. I love the large wheels that are bicycle wheels so that it's easy to fix them and for them to go over obstacles. :)

However, I don't like the car seat because you can try them at Target as well, and you have to put the two hooks together then push them into the seat-belt latch, and when working with a restless baby that would be a nightmare. Graco and other infant seats let you push in one side then the other, which makes it a lot easier when you're working with a restless baby.

I also don't like people putting the baby in a car seat outside of the car. It makes the car seat at risk for knocking against things and becoming damaged, as well as it curves the baby. SIDS research says over and over that we need to lay the baby flat or be carrying the baby, and research has proven that while car seats save their lives in an accident you should limit their time in a car seat (or anything that tilts them) to less than 3 hours in a day and no more than 1 hour at a time, and basically not use it in anything but the car.

So the stroller is nice, get the stroller, but order it through something like Target or Walmart's or babies r us so that you can take it there if there's a problem. Skip the car seat, get one that is better and will work better. Carry the baby for the first 4 months, either your arms or a Moby Wrap for a cheaper alternative to something like an Ergo, it's really not hard. Do a search on car-seat breathing and you'll find the studies done about the dangers.

Add: Looked at the stroller. It's not the jogger that I prefer. If you're going to go with that style of stroller, look at the Chicco strollers. They lay completely flat, so it's better for the SIDS aspect, and have better reviews. I honestly wouldn't get a Baby Trend stroller that's not the jogger because they don't push well, don't maneuver, don't move well. It's all about the wheels and those little wheels always are a pain in the neck on strollers.

This is one similar to what I thought you were talking about. They're approved for babies about 2 months up.

Baby Trend Phantom Jogger Stroller - which car seat?

LaDiDa

I love the positive reviews for the Baby Trend Phantom Jogger Stroller, but am discouraged by the reviews for the Baby Trend Phantom Infant Car Seat. I am somewhat confused cos the Baby Trend Jogger Travel System has great reviews - I assumed it's the stroller and car seat mentioned earlier, sold as a set. Either no one likes the car seat on its own, or I'm getting the strollers mixed up.

Looking for options for car seats for the Baby Trend Phantom Jogger Stroller stroller, I dont see any mention of compatible car seats for the stroller on the Baby Trend website. I don't care if it is a Baby Trend car seat, it just needs to fit the stroller.

I'm so confused with the many strollers and car seats there are and want a set that's affordable but wouldnt fall into pieces within months. My budget is $200 for both the car seat and the stroller.

Just wondering if any of you have the Baby Trend Phantom Jogger Stroller, and what car seat do you use with it. How do you like the stroller? What other car seat/stroller combo would you recommend if not this?

Thank you very much in advance!

Answer
Personally, I think for that budget, its a great option.

The baby trend seats are known to be nice seats in the carseat world. They are affordable, and they've made some improvements in the last year or so. I read some of the reviews on target.com - frankly, I don't put much into reviews online for carseats.... 9 out of 10 people have their seat installed incorrectly. So clearly, its harder to use a seat when its used incorrectly.

(you can get the whole system here: http://www.albeebaby.com/baby-trend-jogger-travel-system-9139ct.html with 10% off by the way)

This is a good system: http://www.albeebaby.com/graco-quattro-tour-sport-travel-system-nectar.html and the seat goes up to 30lbs. The graco strollers are actually pretty good quality... they are just huge. But if I was in this pricerange, it's probably what I'd end up with.

If you can go up just a bit - what I would recommend is the chicco system... it's much more like a high end stroller/carseat then other mass produced strollers -
http://www.albeebaby.com/chicco-keyfit-22-cortina-travel-system-adventure.html

Stay away from Evenflo...

I'd say you're headed the right direction with the baby trend. You an also buy a stroller and combine it with a carseat individually...

like you could buy this: http://www.albeebaby.com/fraco-metrolight-stroller-in-soho.html and this: http://www.albeebaby.com/graco-infant-safeseat-step-1-8a15nct-nectar.html

Which company has a better product? Safety 1st or Graco?

I am looking to purchase a Travel System for my first child, and I want to know which is the better brand to buy. Graco seems to be a little more expensive but Safety 1st seems to be very popular. What do you mothers think?

Answer
Chicco. Much better car seat, much better stroller (lays fully back so you can use it safely from newborn up. Graco and Safety 1st don't lay fully back so they should be avoided for use on a newborn.) Also, even though they're made for it, you don't want to put the car seat in the stroller and push them around like that. The car seat doesn't lay flat back, and that can compress the chest and cause breathing difficulties. So really there's no point in getting a travel system, at least safety wise it's not good. But if there was a travel system, then Chicco looks the best.

Second best would be Baby Trend in my opinion. Their 3 wheeled jogging strollers use bicycle tires and are much easier to maneuver than any other stroller I've tried yet. They go up and down curbs without an issue, and they go through sand and dirt and such without any problems. Their car seats are also top rated for safety, though the buckle is annoying in my opinion.

Really though, I would suggest getting something like a Graco-35 Infant car-seat, as it looks very safe from my point of view (side-impact, the angle adjuster on the base, the high weight limit, etc) and then get the stroller separately when you have time to try them out. Forget the travel system. For the first 6 months, unless it lays fully flat, then it can cause breathing difficulties anyway, so it's better to just put them in a baby carrier (not a sling, those can also be dangerous). Car seats are for car travel, not for riding in strollers or sleeping.

Add: For the record, I got the Graco Snugride system with my daughter 2 years ago about. The car seat was alright, but only went to 20lbs. That was fine for US, but most babies are bigger than my daughter is, and she was uncomfortable by a year old anyway, so we had to go to a convertible car seat at that time. I really like their Snugride-35 that they have now. The design is much better.

The stroller was a monster. It wouldn't fit in the trunk (and for the record, the trunk of my car is LARGE) so we had to put it in the seat next to her. It wouldn't fit in my husband's car at all, not on the seat not in the trunk, nothing, so we couldn't take it anywhere with his car. It was difficult to push and had a T harness (just across their waist and between the legs) which at one point my daughter fell through and hung by her neck when we were trying to go over a curb (it didn't handle curbs, cracks, or anything.) It wouldn't fit in stores, was very wide, and the fence gap at my local park was too thin for it to go through so we had to go around the long way to get to anything fun. The wheels were small and would dig into sand so that it was impossible to deal with. It was recalled about a month ago though, so I dumped the thing at Toys R Us and got 25% off the new baby's crib. I was never so glad to get rid of something in my life.

The Baby Trend jogger we replaced it with was much easier to push. It's so much lighter. It's still very large, but if you take off the back wheels it fits in either of our cars which is a huge improvement. The wheels are bicycle wheels so they handle curbs and sand and dirt and everything I've thrown at them. It's thinner than I am, so any doorway or gap in a fence that we come to, if I can go through it so can the stroller. :) I was beyond delighted to be able to walk right to the park, right through the dirt, the sand, the grass, and not have any issues. We have taken it on dirt mountain trails, and the harness held her tightly so she wouldn't fall out even if we were going up and down at bad angles. She loves the cup holders, loves the safe feeling of not falling out, and loves the stroller. While we had both sitting out there she never once asked to go back in the Graco, but would run to the Baby Trend.

What are some good travel systems?

Glenda Cur

I plan to buy a travel system.i believe it will be cheaper than buy the stronger and car seat separatly

Answer
No, it will not be cheaper to buy a travel system. Here's why:
- The infant car seat will only last 4-12 months. Now, becuase baby needs to be rear facing to at least two years, you will have to buy a convertible seat on top of the cost of te travel system. So, say the travel system was $200 and the convertible was $200. That's $400. But if you use the convertible from birth, and buy a $70-$150 stroller, that's $270-$350 approximately. That's saving around $50-$130.
BUT if you insist on using an infant seat, you can buy the Cosco Comfy Carry infant seat for $48 from Walmart, and a $50 stroller from Walmart and your total is around $100.

I guess if you wanted to clip the infant seat onto the stroller, you would have to buy interchangeable seat and stroller, which I guess would be more expensive.

Some good cheaper travel systems:

Evenflo journey
Graco DynamoLite
Graco Spree
Baby Trend Venture
Cosco Commuter
Baby Trend Range Jogger

More expensive:

Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 system (really suggest this one)
Chicco Neuvo 30lb system
Bugaboo Chameleon system (when you purchase online, but the seat too. They fit onto stroller.)
Britax B-Safe system (you purchase seat and stroller seperately. See website.)

I suggest the Chicco KeyFit 30 system - that seat was fantastic with my little one.

When ruling out which systems you like, look at the weight limits on the seat and stroller. Look for the highest you can get, as it will last longer. For example, some of the evenflo and other cheaper brands, their seats only hold up to 22lb, whereas chicco and britax it is 30lb.

Baby Trend products do not have the best reputation. Many of my friends and myself had had problems with the seat back adjuster of the stroller snapping, sending the child back. The locking front wheel for jogging also tends to come unlocked when you are using it. Where can I find car seat/stroller travel systems for girls that are NOT pink and under $200?

highgoals2

Where can I find car seat/stroller travel systems for girls that are NOT pink and under $200?
I live in northern Indiana. I can order online (for stores that offer online purchases)

Answer
Things to consider. Why? I mean, except for transporting your baby in the car, a car seat should not be used for things like riding in the stroller, or on shopping carts, or things like that. It comes from the studies done in the last year or so that shows that a baby left to sleep or sit in an inclined position for too long can get into an oxygen lowered state. Ie, it's not good for them to be in an inclined position like a car seat for longer than 2 hours full in a day, until they're older than about 6 months old.

Now, since recalls done on strollers are far less than recalls done on car seats, you can get the stroller from someone selling second-hand (just doublecheck recall lists) and get a better car seat. The Chicco brand stroller, for instance, lays flat, making it usable from newborn on up. :) On Ebay, I can see a few for under $100 (make sure they say fully reclining.) I'm sure you could find some at Craigslist as well. :) Otherwise, you could consider using a baby chest carrier for the first few months until your baby is old enough (3-6 months) to sit at a slight incline, then you can get a stroller that nearly reclines all the way.

If you do that, my favorite travel system is the Baby Trend, at least to recommend to people. It's under $200, the car seat is one of the top safety rated (though the buckles are a pain in the neck I'll warn you now), and the stroller is a jogger that you can use as a stroller. I LOVE ours. They recline far enough back for about 2+months, so I wouldn't put a newborn in it, but if you can last the 2 months then it lasts to 40lbs. Only negative is that the basket is only rated to carry 5lbs, so you can't bring a huge diaper bag with you (or if you do you have to carry it.)

Shoot though. If you're dead set on a travel system, you can always find someone selling the stroller that goes with a travel system, buy that for a cheaper price, and then use the rest of the money to get the car seat, and get it cheaper that way. But I'm not a fan of travel systems. To me it seems like it ropes folks into thinking a baby should sleep in the car seat and it's just not safe.

if you're having a girl... this: http://www.albeebaby.com/quinny-zapp-stroller-bright-pink.html and this: http://www.albeebaby.com/maxi-cosi-micro-infant-car-seat-happy-flowers.html (LOVE This one...)
