Do you think a light pink baby travel system will get too dirty?

I have seen a travel system that I want if I have a girl. It's a graco and it's light pink. Would it get dirty fast because it is light pink? Or should I buy another color?
I don't plan on having anymore children.

Answer
I bought a dark blue Graco stroller when I was pregnant with my first. We got a lot of use out of it! Then when baby #2 showed up we bought a dark blue tandem stroller which I hated! That thing didn't turn well. Anyway we used the first stroller with the second baby too. And it seems no matter how clean you try to keep it, if you're using it A LOT like we did it always gets a bit dirty. I'd have to think that on pink it would really show more. I'm guilty of looking at a pink one myself now~~my kids are 8 & 6 so I long ago sold all my baby stuff and now I'm pregnant again!!

Even though I like this pink one I don't dare buy it. I have no idea what I'm having yet, plus I plan to be pregnant at least one more time after this and if that's a boy, I don't think he'll appreciate the pink stroller!

Do you think a light pink baby travel system will get too dirty?sk?

Answer
Do you plan on having any more kids after this one? if so I dont recommend buying pink because if you were to have a boy after, I doubt you would want to use it. I'm having a little girl and went with gender neutral so I can use it again with my next child. How dirty it would get depends. My trunk can get kind of dirty sometimes with everything going in and out (especailly dirt on the stroller wheels) so you might find it would get dirty in there. Its up to you.

Best items for a baby register (include brands if you have a recommendation)?

baby travel systems at burlington coat factory image

KLC79

My husband and I will be registering for our baby shower soon. We are first time parents. I was just wanting advice on what parents have found to really be the best items to have with a newborn. If you can recommend specific brands of the items that would be great too. I would like to chose our items knowing that people recommend them due to their past experiences...current parents would know more about which brand work best and which items are more used/needed that I would be able to figure out1 We were going to look at Target, Babies-R-Us, and Baby Depot (in Burlington Coat Factory) as our possible registry locations. Thanks!
I meant Baby Registry! I overlooked that-Sorry!

Answer
Graco Snugride carseat
Fisher Price Baby Papasan
Diaper Champ (not the Genie!)
Summer Video Baby Monitor
Graco Pack n Play
BOB stroller (if you're active) or Graco Travel System stroller
Avent Isis IQ Breast Pump (you control how fast/slow/hard/soft the pumping is)
Dwell for Target receiving blankets
First Years Sterilizer
Pampers Swaddlers Diapers- Size N (Newborn)
Gerber kimono shirts & onesies
Eurobath bath
Boppy
Graco swing
Exersaucer
Baby Bjorn
Bundle Me car seat cover if you live in a cold climate

Also- steal the nose aspirator "snot sucker" from the hospital- they are so much better than the ones you buy

I'm looking for a specific stroller.?

i have a 15 month old baby and I am 10 weeks pregnant. I'm looking for a tandem stroller that will hold my older son and have a space for an infant car seat (like the travel systems).

Answer
I just bought a Jeep double stroller and on the side on the box it states what kind of infant carseats it fits. I went to Burlington Coat Factory(Baby Depot) and paid about $180.00 for it. I got to test the floor model out before buying it and my 2 year old seemed to really like it. I hoped this helped you out some.

Texas girl

Things like cribs, strollers, car seats etc. My husband and I are not pregnant yet, but planning to start TTC soon, so I am wanting to get a headstart and find some great deals at garage sales and on Craigslist. But I don't know anything about good brands for baby items, so I figured you mommies out there could help me out! :) Thanks for the help!

Answer
Evenflo and Graco make some really good quality products. I would highly recommend a travel system (a car seat and stroller combo set) from either one of these brands.

Good luck with TTC! :)

What is the average cost of a baby crib, blankets, and stroller?

fled

Several baby blankets and an average crib and stroller? Thanks.

Answer
I'm in Canada, and actually, Zeller's is having an awesome deal right now.
Travel System (car seat and stroller) only $99, and it's soooo pretty (pink flowers). And some others for like $150. Usually like $200, though (for the travel system).
I got my crib and mattress given to me, but usually $150-$200 is enough for both.
Blankets..depends. Again, here, Zeller's has a pack of 4 for only $10. I also found some really cute ones at the dollar store, $2 each.

What happens to your body when you are struck by lightning (whether directly or indirectly)?

baby travel systems all terrain on Baby Trend Stroller Reviews | Stroller Reviews
baby travel systems all terrain image

Smo

Does your skin blister (if the current is weak by the time it hits you) or receive burns at the point of entry. What happens to your heart and other organs? What about your blood? Anything else about lighting striking a person is appreciated.
Thank you Mak _Time, that helps a lot, actually.

Answer
first a little theory:

There is no weakening in the current, it has already traveled hundreds of miles at light speed carrying 30 to 100 millions volts (have you ever been shocked by 120 volts? imagine 30 millions!) at around 100,000 amperes, and THAT'S the tricky part, I can stunt you with a stunt-gun with 300,000 volts but it wont kill you, because of the low amperage, but a lightning?? enterely different subject baby!!!

a lightning is usually less than 2 inches diameter, but its power so intense that the air around it gets heated at 54,000 ºF!! .... yes, that's five times hotter than the sun's surface, getting the picture yet?

So, as far as I know, if you are that unlucky and get caught in a thunder storm in plain terrain with no shelter and a lighting hits you, several things happen to your body, oddly enough chances are that you may survive (just 25 to 30% mortality rate) thats because human body is somewhat an electrical conductor, and current will pass your body in their way to the ground, but most of survivors sustain permanent injuries for that, as far as I know:

-cardiopulmonary arrest, heart stops, breathing too
-nervous system damage, or shutdown, with all kinds of mental sequels from amnesia to plain insanity
-coagoulation of the blood
-internal bleeding
-first or second degree burns, far worse if metal objects are present, like coins or jewelry
-eye damage, retinal bleeding, corneal injury, cataracts
-ear damage, ruptured ear drums, vertigo, dizziness
-contusions, fractures muscle and ligament tears

hope it helps

whats the best brand name for travel system strollers?

maria

im a first time mom and im due in 3 weeks, i need a stroller asap but i want to know which brand would be good graco, safety 1st. chicco, cosco, baby trend, Eddie Bauer.

Answer
Since it's not safe to leave a baby in the car seat in a stroller (it keeps them at an incline, and it's better for them in the first few months to be flat whenever possible, or being carried. It reduces their oxygen levels to have them at an incline. Car seats are for traveling in cars basically, not for putting on shopping carts, using as a feeding chair, or in a stroller, and you don't leave them asleep in them.) you need to look for a stroller that lays fully back, flat. Chicco does. I know that the Graco Quattro does as well. The Chicco brand has a very good car seat as well. I don't particularly like the cheaper Graco Snugrides, but I do like the Snugride 32. Course if you're not using the car seat with the stroller you are free to look at any stroller you want really.

We have a baby trend all-terrain stroller that I honestly love. It's not approved for younger than 2 months since it doesn't lay flat, but the 3 wheel design makes it easier to push up and down curbs, over cracks, through sand or loose dirt or grass or snow. I'd never pick another stroller to be honest, maybe one of their more expensive newer models that fold down better, but I love it. The car seat though... they're high rated for safety but when I tried it out in the store it was such a pain to try and hook the chest hook and push that into the lap belt at the same time the way they want you to. So we didn't go with that car seat.

Add: Sorry, but it is the truth even if folks don't like to hear it. Car seats are for traveling in the car. Not for sleeping or leaving your child in for any longer than possible. Until they fix that, it's taking a risk that you don't have to take simply by laying your baby flat in a stroller, carrying them, or putting them in a chest carrier. And if you're not going to put a car seat in the stroller, then there's nothing tying you to one brand over another. Pick the car seat and the stroller that's best, and who cares if they match?

Add: Just for the record, Costco, Eddie Bauer and Safety First are made from the same company, same group. And they have the highest number of recalls recently. It's not a company I trust. Chicco and Baby Trend have had far less recalls, and tested highly for safety.

Minimalist,essential list for baby shopping?

baby travel systems vs convertible car seats on CarefreeKidz.com. Child's Play IV
baby travel systems vs convertible car seats image

Christina

I live in a one bedroom apt so space is an issue with me,which is also why there won't be a baby shower. What is your idea of a minimalist baby list? I've decided on a pack n play against crib already for space.also what's your opinion on bouncer vs swing?I'd really like to get only one of the two

Answer
Would a convertible crib from Ikea be better than a pack n play? It would certainly be more comfortable for the baby. If you got a crib top changer and under crib storage drawer from a reputable baby shop it would take up barely any more room than a pack n play and has the advantage of turning into a toddler bed later on. The underbed storage drawer can be used for storing baby linen and clothing if you don't have room for a dresser.
You'll want a stroller and a car seat. Given you have limited space I'd be looking at getting an umbrella style travel system like the The First Years Wisp or one of the Peg Perego ones.

I'd hold off on buying either a swing or a bouncer. My kids hated the swing and if I had known before my third that they were just as happy to sit in the stroller as they were to sit in the bouncer I would never have gotten that tripping hazard in the first place!

First time expecting mom seeking advice on infant car seat and strollers vs travel systems etc?!?

kjfdhgks

Hello
I am a first time expecting mother and am pretty confused on all the baby gear options. I've ruled out that, although a convertible car seat saves money and stuff, that I do want to go with an infant car seat so that I don't have to wake the baby every time we get out of the car...Maybe? lol Im also torn between using a travel system or just getting an infant car seat and a light weight stroller. I do plan on getting the baby Bjorn as well. Im only 4'10 and I have concerns with a travel system being too bulky and heavy. I also want to make sure Im going to get use out of it. I would love opinions from experienced mothers on what worked for you or even expecting parents and what your planning on doing. This is all so confusing and overwhelming as a first time mother because im not really sure what will work and all. Thanks=]

Answer
Definitely 100% get a travel system. We got one and it's made life much easier. The carseat snaps right into the stroller when they're little so you don't have to move them out of it and into a stroller. They make lots of lightweight ones- if you look on the internet at some, just check the weight- it will say how much in the description.

We had a baby bjorn too but only used it maybe 5 times. Barely ever used the bumbo either- both were waste of money in our case.

I mean like play yard, highchair and travel system wise? We have thought about getting all matching ones but are debating between that and the fisher price rain forest theme?

Answer
Yes, I have the Chicco highchair and travel system and LOVE them! However, the Chicco infant carrier does not fit into any other stroller besides it's own. I am currently looking for a double stroller for my 1 year old daughter and my upcoming baby (due in Jan.) and it looks like I am going to have to buy a whole new infant carrier and stroller because Chicco doesn't make a double stroller that an infant carrier can go in.

Is there other travel system than Graco, that its car seat can hold a child up to 32" Height?

V K

Is there other travel system than Graco, that its car seat can hold a child up to 32" Height?

Answer
Hi- there are a handful of higher weight/height carseats. Keep in mind, weight is a hard number that cannot be broken. Height is a little different - a child can be all legs, and last longer then 32", or they can be all torso and need to be moved out of the seat before 32". They need at least 1" of head room between the top of their head and the shell of the seat - if they have less then this, they have outgrown the seat by height regardless of weight.

The taller shell seats for infants are:
Graco Snugride 32
Graco Safeseat 1 (discontinued but you can still find it online)
Chicco Keyfit 30
Safet 1st On Board 35 Infant seat
Certain Baby Trend Flex Loc seats (check specifications on seats)

Also - there are some other "travel system" type seats that really aren't meant to be moved out and about on a daily basis but would be travel friendly for other situations - like the orbit baby convertible carseat with the stroller, or the new combi corocco and their combi corocco stroller that's coming out.

Other then that, its time to move to a convertible rear facing carseat.

Keep those babies rear facing as long as possible!

Do you think the stroller is compact (when folded) enough to fit in the trunk of a 03 Mustang?

What about the car seat, is it compact enough to fit in the backseat?

Answer
Hmmm... I have the baby trend system. I would think that it would fit in the trunk of a mustang. It will be a tight fit, but it will fit.
As for the car seat fitting, it should. I have a dodge caliber and it fits with a little room. Our issue is that we have to have the front seat pulled all the way up, but then again, I am normally alone with the baby in the car. You can alway buy it and try it. If it doesn't fit, take it back.
I LOVE my baby trend stroller, but I am not a huge fan of the car seat. I just don't like the way it clips together, but I don't think I would really like any clips since my son HATES the car seat :-)

Baby Trend Phantom Jogger Stroller - which car seat?

LaDiDa

I love the positive reviews for the Baby Trend Phantom Jogger Stroller, but am discouraged by the reviews for the Baby Trend Phantom Infant Car Seat. I am somewhat confused cos the Baby Trend Jogger Travel System has great reviews - I assumed it's the stroller and car seat mentioned earlier, sold as a set. Either no one likes the car seat on its own, or I'm getting the strollers mixed up.

Looking for options for car seats for the Baby Trend Phantom Jogger Stroller stroller, I dont see any mention of compatible car seats for the stroller on the Baby Trend website. I don't care if it is a Baby Trend car seat, it just needs to fit the stroller.

I'm so confused with the many strollers and car seats there are and want a set that's affordable but wouldnt fall into pieces within months. My budget is $200 for both the car seat and the stroller.

Just wondering if any of you have the Baby Trend Phantom Jogger Stroller, and what car seat do you use with it. How do you like the stroller? What other car seat/stroller combo would you recommend if not this?

Thank you very much in advance!

Answer
Personally, I think for that budget, its a great option.

The baby trend seats are known to be nice seats in the carseat world. They are affordable, and they've made some improvements in the last year or so. I read some of the reviews on target.com - frankly, I don't put much into reviews online for carseats.... 9 out of 10 people have their seat installed incorrectly. So clearly, its harder to use a seat when its used incorrectly.

(you can get the whole system here: http://www.albeebaby.com/baby-trend-jogger-travel-system-9139ct.html with 10% off by the way)

This is a good system: http://www.albeebaby.com/graco-quattro-tour-sport-travel-system-nectar.html and the seat goes up to 30lbs. The graco strollers are actually pretty good quality... they are just huge. But if I was in this pricerange, it's probably what I'd end up with.

If you can go up just a bit - what I would recommend is the chicco system... it's much more like a high end stroller/carseat then other mass produced strollers -
http://www.albeebaby.com/chicco-keyfit-22-cortina-travel-system-adventure.html

Stay away from Evenflo...

I'd say you're headed the right direction with the baby trend. You an also buy a stroller and combine it with a carseat individually...

like you could buy this: http://www.albeebaby.com/fraco-metrolight-stroller-in-soho.html and this: http://www.albeebaby.com/graco-infant-safeseat-step-1-8a15nct-nectar.html

if you're having a girl... this: http://www.albeebaby.com/quinny-zapp-stroller-bright-pink.html and this: http://www.albeebaby.com/maxi-cosi-micro-infant-car-seat-happy-flowers.html (LOVE This one...)

my grandparents got us a stroller travel system and when we opened it we saw that it was pink. my husband says to keep it its no big deal. they bought it on clearance and the color on the box does not look pink at all so that's why they got it.

Answer
If he's wearing a blue hat, most people will assume you have an older girl at home and he's in big-sister's hand-me-down. :) Or that he was a "surprise, it's a boy!" when you were expecting a girl. No one will question his gender, and he won't care. I know lots of little boys who love pink. I wouldn't let it bother me.

any recomends on what type of carseats swings playpens strollers?

Q. I am 37 weeks pregnant and need to know before the baby comes thanks please IM me

Answer
I would NOT recommend any evenflo carseats, although their strollers are fine. We have the evenflo aura elite, and have had it replaced twice....We like the stroller that came with the travel system though.

I WOULD recommend the graco pack N play for a playpen...it has a bassinet insert. We used it until our baby was 15 pounds...before we bothered buying a crib. It was the perfect size, played music, vibrated, and had a changing table insert as well. Ours had been $150, but we got it on clearance at toysrus for $40! Best deal of the entire pregnancy.

We have the fisher price swing with the "sea" motif. Very popular. I personally don't like swings. After having a cesarean, it is difficult to bend over, holding the baby, to situate her in the swing seat.

You really need a bouncer seat. Just pick one that has several reclining positions (at least 2, so the baby can sit up if he has acid reflux), make sure it can vibrate, and make sure it plays soothing nature sounds and music. Don't buy one that bounces out of control every time the baby moves, and make sure you choose one that is very lightweight....you'll be carrying it from room to room, so you don't want anything heavy.

Bottles? Use Dr. Browns.
Diapers? Pampers baby dry.
Formula? Parents' Choice (at walmart) generic imitation of Similac advance milk-based with iron (Only $11 per large can, as opposed to $26 per large can of similac!)

How do we stop Canadians from illegally coming to America for our superior healthcare?

best baby travel systems 2010 on Duvet Cover Set - Queen Duvet Covers - King duvets and Queen Duvets
best baby travel systems 2010 image

Christian

Canadians know that their socialized healthcare with death panels suck, so many are illegally trespassing to steal some of our SUPERIOR healthcare.

Why doesn't Canada just adopt a good free market healthcare system like we have. (Before Obamacare ruins it)

Answer
In 2010, the Frazier institute study estimated that approximately 47,000 residents of Canada received non-emergency medical care outside of Canada in the previous year. That includes new immigrants, non-Canadians on work/study permits, Canadians who may have been working overseas, etc. It also considers procedures such as having a baby non-emergency care. Without even considering these, it still represents less than 0.14% of all Canadians and some tiny fraction of all medical procedures performed on Canadians. Further, the study does not say that those people had the procedure in the United States.

Meanwhile, over 6 million Americans travel abroad each year for medical procedures. That is almost 2% of Americans. Unlike the Canadian study this does not include legal residents (only US citizens), recent immigrants, nor Americans who may have been living overseas and returned in the year. These are people who specifically left for the primary purpose of medical care.

In other words, per capita, Americans are well over 20 times more likely to leave the US for an elective procedure as a Canadian is to leave Canada.

How long were you successful in TTC after a vasectomy reversal?

Navy Wife

I know that it can take up to a year for it to be successful. My husband is having his reversed next month due to complications and has put it off thus far. We want to TTC as soon as possible so we can have a baby in 2010!

Answer
For us, it only took 3 cycles but we didn't ttc for almost a year after the reversal, so my husband's system was up and running well by that time. For most couples, they can expect not to conceive in the first three months post-op VR because it takes 75 days for sperm to be produced, mature, and travel through the man's "pipes" before the sperm is ejaculated. It can happen though, and some couples even conceive the very first month that they try. Typically I see many couples conceive around 8 months post-op. That's just what I personally observe from visiting different message boards. I hope you get your 2010 baby. Much babydust to you! GL.

A travel system from Graco that is similar to the Chicco Cortina 30 Travel System, but lighter weight?

Answer
No need for a travel system :) Pick a good quality stroller that you like, make sure it reclines flat for use until baby can sit upright. Buy the car seat separately and don't use it with the stroller- it's not good for baby to be in a car seat any longer than they need to.

Where can I go to get a replacement cover set for my infant travel system?

I already have an infant car seat and stroller travel set but because our first child was a girl I received a pink system at the baby shower. I am now pregnant with our second child and it is a boy. I would like to avoid having to buy a whole new set. Does anyone know where I can go to get a new cover set for my Graco Travel System?

Answer
Connect the customer service of Graco Travel System and tell them what you would like and ask how you can get a new cover set.
