My best friend is having a baby, im so HAPPY!
Okay she is almost 2 months, is it wayyy to early to start buying little things like a few packs of onesies and neautral color stuff, like pacifiers bottles, care kits, n stuff?
Also i found a brand new winnie the pooh baby swing on craigslist, for 30 bucks,
im no baby whiz,so is that a good price?

THANKS!

Answer
You can start shopping whenever you would like. I found out i was pregnant the 2nd week of august and by sept. me and the hubby already went out and got the travel system i wanted because it was on sale. I would ask your friend how she feels about used items....but if she doesnt mind then 30 bucks is a good deal for a swing if it runs fine and looks in good shape. Although for 30 more dollars you can buy a new one.

Can you Please help me find the perfect stroller?

Michelle M

I am looking for something safe, sturdy, lightweight, compact, can be used by a newborn, has 2 parent cup holders, and one for baby, one hand steering, and easy to fold and unfold. Just the stroller - not the travel system. Oh, and about $150 or less, do you have anything to recommend?

Answer
I highly recommend the Peg Perego lightweight stroller, the Aria. It runs about $199.99. I'm sure you can find it cheaper, on sale somewhere. It is a super easy stroller to fold and maneuverer. The Aria is a one hand fold and locks automatically. It's a sturdy Italian brand. One cup holder.

The Graco MetroLite LX Stroller has two cup holders and is pretty light. Also has a hand maneuverer. Folds almost the same as the Aria does except it doesn't lock automatically.

I have seen a travel system that I want if I have a girl. It's a graco and it's light pink. Would it get dirty fast because it is light pink? Or should I buy another color?

Answer
Do you plan on having any more kids after this one? if so I dont recommend buying pink because if you were to have a boy after, I doubt you would want to use it. I'm having a little girl and went with gender neutral so I can use it again with my next child. How dirty it would get depends. My trunk can get kind of dirty sometimes with everything going in and out (especailly dirt on the stroller wheels) so you might find it would get dirty in there. Its up to you.

What does the Laura Ashley travel system look like?

A girl is giving me the Laura Ashley travel system for my baby. I have never seen it. She said its purple and brown. Does anybody have pics or know a site where I could find it? I have heard it's a really good travel system to have.

I live in Nebraska, expecting a little one in July. I just need to upgrade to a 4 door vehicle. Any suggestions?
excuse me for asking, you know PEOPLE WITH THE CARS could mention if they liked them or not. I'm sorry for asking a "stupid" question. and whether I research it once, or twice peoples REAL opinion, and experience with it would be nice to know.

Answer
http://www.edmunds.com/pontiac/vibe/2008/consumerreview.html
read the second review on the vibe it's a guy talking about how he just had a baby

http://www.edmunds.com/jeep/liberty/2005/index.html
and for the jeep I wasn't sure what model you wanted but you can follow the link and select which one you want and look a customer reviews.

I have never owned either one of these cars but like you I am also expecting in May and am in the market for a better car (I've been looking at the Crysler pacifica) but my sister has a jeep liberty limited and i must say that the trunk is rather small, if you are planning on having a travel system ( the car seat clicks into a stroller) I don't think you would be able to have much room to store the stroller part in the trunk at least while you have other stuff in there like groceries and such. But that's just my opinion.
Anyways I hope this helps and good luck with car shopping and congrats on the baby.

Are there any Jeep stroller travel systems?

Shelley

Im looking for a travel system stroller and like Jeeps's strollers. Was just wondering if they have travel systems.

Answer
Jeep strollers at least the all terrain ones can accommodate a bunch of different infant car seats to form a travel system. The vendors that have car seats that can be used to form a travel system with Jeep strollers are: Baby Trend, Britax, Chicco, Cosco, Graco, Peg Perego and Safety 1st."

Hope that helps. Good luck with finding the right stroller, I have a Baby Trend Jogger and I love it. The all terrain strollers are so durable.

what do you think of it? do any of you have it/seen it? pro and cons. and any opinions on it? :)

Answer
Ideally you want a pram where the baby can lie down at first. This pram does say from birth but its so much more practical if you get one that can convert both ways, flat and upright which is suitable for when they can support themselves. Also I've heard a lot of bad reviews about Maclaren being unsafe and children trapping their fingers in parts. Silver cross is the pram I have and I love it to pieces, its the 3d version and is so easy to put up and down and my little man seems to love it. Its a good make to go for but you should go for a 3 in 1 / travel system pram at least while they're young.
The juicy couture one would be a good one for when baby is a bit older, its good looking!

I am due to have a baby Feb 14th and have a question about my carseat?

Smith 15F

I purchased a Graco snugride 35 carseat because the reviews on it were great. I love the carseat and feel very confident that it will be a great purchase for us! The series that I bought offers a matching single and double stroller. HOWEVER, my husband does not want to invest our money in either of the stroller that come in the series. He wants to get a jogging stroller instead, and preferrably a double jogger. My question is, does anyone know if there is a jogger (single or double) out there that can accomodate a Graco stroller? I did buy the Graco stroller frame that the carseat locks into but it is not a jogger. I have seen a few joggers that have the ability to have an attachment hooked on to hold a carrier/carseat but mostly they are for like brands (ie: baby trend jogger with attachment to hold baby trend carrier/carseat). If anyone knows of a jogger out there that will accommodate a Graco carseat/carrier I would really appreciate it! Thanks so much!

Answer
The Graco excursion is a 3 wheeled travel system

Although, car seats are not recommended for long periods of time. So get a phil and teds, a single jogger converts to double and a excellent pushchair. The phil and teds does hold a maxi cosi car seat and a phil and teds car seat

Double Strollers: What would you recommend, if any? Or did you even bother with one?

For parents with a (or had a) young toddler and a new baby, can you tell me what you'd recommend as far as a stroller goes? I've been looking at two.

The first is the Baby Trend Sit and Stand double stroller. It's a typical in-line double stroller, and the rear seat comes off when the toddler is older so they can just sit on the platform or stand on their own. It comes as a travel system. http://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=4279629&prodFindSrc=search

Or should I get a jogging stroller? I was looking at one of the Phil & Ted Explorer Buggy strollers where you buy a double kit, and it becomes a double in-line stroller. http://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=4452629&prodFindSrc=search This one can carry different brands of infant car seats to make it a travel system.

I guess my problem is that I have two Evenflo infant seats and neither of them are going to be any good to me once this new baby comes, if I want a double stroller.

So...in saying all of that, do you think I'd be better off with option #1, where it comes as a travel system and I don't have to purchase another car seat separately, option #2, where I'd have to additionally buy the conversion kit plus another new car seat, or my 3rd option: to just use the stroller that I have (that is also Evenflo and I can use the seats I already have, too, and let my toddler walk everywhere?

What worked best for your family? Did you find your toddler did well without a stroller? Carson is really good in stores...we don't use a stroller for her at this point, and I just hold her hand or let her walk a little ways in front of me. But with a new baby I can see that becoming very difficult to do.
It's just me: No, not all car seats ARE interchangeable. I tried my evenflo on the Baby Trend Sit and Stand. It doesn't click to latch it on securely. So in that case, it ONLY fits THEIR brand. The Phil and Ted jogging stroller fits Graco, Maxi Cosi, and Peg Perego. Not Evenflo (I have also tried this).

Trust me, I would not have asked this if it weren't a VALID question, so don't act like answering it was a complete waste of your time.
Response to It's Just Me: Listen, I have been in contact with the company, both Evenflo for my car seats and the companies that sell the strollers. Yes, Phil & Ted's DO sell a conversion kit for the car seats I've listed, you're right. But they do not have one for Evenflo seats. Likewise, as far as the other stroller (the travel system) goes, there IS no conversion kit available. I've spoken with them. I've tried it in the store with my car seat. It's a no go. So before you go off saying "Oh la la la, they all fit, I must know what I'm talking about"...take a moment and actually LISTEN to what I am saying. I have done my research, I've tested and tried. Evenflo is one of those brands that not many stroller companies support. So yes, I totally want to go out looking for an excuse to spend between $300-$700. That was the exact point of my question (sarcasm).

Answer
It's Just Me: You're a snarky woman. End of story. There is no such thing as a completely 100% interchangeable car seat and stroller. BB knows what she is talking about here, I've gone through it. Have YOU used an Evenflo car seat on these strollers? It doesn't sound like it. What it sounds like to me is that you got lucky in the past with one particular stroller that just happened to work with another type of car seat. But it doesn't always work that easily. Get over yourself, drop this "holier-than-thou" attitude.

BB: Do what I did. Keep your old stroller/travel system, the Evenflo one, the one you used for Carson. Put new baby in a sling when you go out. Get one of those Little star slings or something. Then, even if Carson doesn't want to be in a stroller herself, you still have your hands free to hold her hand and chase after her in stores.

I'd then maybe look on Craigslist or Kijiji for a cheap used double jogging stroller. Something that you can take on trails and stuff to get some exercise.

But for day to day use, no, you don't need a double stroller travel system, or even one that accepts an Evenflo car seat.

Which baby stroller I should Buy ?

I want to buy a good quality baby traveling set stroller. what's You recommendations..

Answer
Well... my first recommendation is to study the negatives to using a car seat as a carrying device outside of the car (that's what I think of when you say traveling set.) First is if you keep a baby in a car seat for long periods of time or leave them to sleep in it they are more likely (especially in the first 4 months) to have oxygen deprivation (they recommend your baby sleep on a flat surface, and you don't have a choice while in a car, but you do in a stroller.) Second is the more you take it out of the car the more likely something is to happen to the car seat so it's less effective in an accident. Third, the weight of a car seat plus baby is ridiculously high.

So then consider strollers. There are many that lay flat. The only negative to most of the strollers (in America anyway) are that most face away from mom/dad. Studies have shown that parents are less likely to engage with their children when they can't see their faces, and babies are less likely to laugh, make eye contact, talk, etc in a stroller facing away from the parents (forward facing.) You can find them though, especially if you live in the UK Prams are not uncommon or that terribly expensive. But, so long as you take the time to talk to your children and spend time face to face with them when you can, then you can work around that negative of a stroller so long as you keep them laying flat until they're old enough to sit up.

Another option is to think outside the box. Consider a chest carrier, wrap or sling. The Ergo and Moby Wrap are my favorites. There have never been any studies showing an oxygen deprivation moment in these (or most other carrying devices, except the weird slings that curled them up that were recalled.) And so long as baby is facing you then they are getting the face to face contact, hearing you talk more often, you are more likely to talk more often, getting rid of the developmental delays that happen when they don't get that enough. The Ergo goes to 40lbs, but the Moby Wrap is an easy one to use especially in the first 6-12 months until they are a good sitter then you can get a more lightweight and easy to use stroller. And as far as traveling, wearing your baby is a lot easier on busses, in airports, in malls, anywhere really, as opposed to a stroller.

So strollers I recommend. For newborn up, you need a laying flat one. Chicco strollers ALL lay down flat and many Graco do now as well. The Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe lays flat and is compatible with their car seat, and all Chicco carseats fit in their strollers, so there ya go. Though I wouldn't use them like that, those are what I would recommend if you want to go with a set. I'd recommend personally buying the car seat nice and a bit more expensive and just getting a Chicco stroller used though since they are almost never recalled and that gives you a bit better car seat for your buck. For about 2 months up, the jogging strollers (though you can't jog until they're older) are my favorites as they are thin, easy to maneuver, and can go through anything (gravel, snow, sidewalks, sand, grass, etc.) The Baby Trend joggers are my favorites because they're simple and rarely have recalls. The baby Trend also make car seats that fit on the strollers, but I HATE their car seat fastener system so try it out before you invest in that.

For how many years is a typical baby travel system safe?

We have an almost 4 yr old and are due with our second child in 5 months. We have everything we need, but a friend warned me against using our carseat and stroller again, becuase it may be out of safety regulation being almost 4 yrs old. It's a Chicco KeyFit 30, and had great safety ratings when we purchased it. Any one know typically how many years a travel system is good for?

Answer
Most car seat brands are 6 years from the date of manufacture. The KeyFit 30 is still considered to be a great seat. Flip it over and look for a "do not use after" date stamped into the shell. Once you're sure it's not expired, use the model number off the seat to search for a recall- for any seat. For the KeyFit, Chicco has only had one recall since 2001 and I don't think your seat was produced between the dates for the recall, here it is http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/childseat.cfm#mfg_anchor

What is better to purchase - a travel system, or a separate car seat and stroller?

LP

This is our first baby, but we plan on having more in the next few years. I'm trying to decide whether I should by a travel system or just buy a separate car seat and a lighter-weight stroller. What are the pros and cons?

Answer
I have to disagree with most on the answeres..sorry guys. I registered for the travel system and loved it , but it didn't last long. The stroller is very bulky and didn't fit in my trunk (mid-size sedan) , the carseat is also very small. My daughter is 3 1/2 months and barely fits in the infant carrier anymore. I went to Babies r' us the other day to look for a new stroller that folds up more compact and spoke to 3 different mothers and they all agreed. Yesterday I went and bought the Peg Perego stroller which is good from infancy through toddler , and I switched to a convertible carseat , also good until around 4 years of age.

The pros of a travel system are that is it way more convenient to transport the baby in and out of the car while still in the carseat.

The con is that once your baby hits around 15 lbs. the carrier can get very heavy to carry around. Also the strollers tend to be a little bulkier.

The pros of buying separate is that the carseat will last for years , and you have a wider variety of stroller to pick from , lightweight and compact , or a more expensive trendy one.

The cons of buying separate are that you have to physically take the baby in and out of the carseat , which can get annoying if you have a light sleeper.

Good Luck!

buybuybaby.com has a great selection of strollers!

Brits complaining about US immigration laws or illegals sneaking into the US, which is more annoying to you?

Answer
Brits complaining about US immigration laws, has anybody seen how U.K. immigration system works ? Look at how the U.K. system works.Illegal immigrant who killed brilliant Oxford graduate after roaring through red light can't be deported... because of his human rights
An illegal immigrant who killed a brilliant young writer by driving into her at 60mph cannot be deported because it would breach his human rights.
Ahsan Sabri, 28, was unlicensed and not properly insured when he roared through a red light and ploughed into Oxford University graduate Sophie Warne.
The 30-year-old died instantly from a broken neck. She had published five books, was writing her first novel and was about to announce her engagement.
But the High Court overturned an immigration tribunal decision that Sabri - who had overstayed his visa - should be sent home to Pakistan.
The judge ruled that deporting him would breach his right to 'respect for family life' as he had married a British woman in 2003 and had a daughter, born last May, with her.
Lord Justice Sir Martin Moore-Bick said that if he left Britain, Sabri's wife, Laura Gleeson, 25, a graphic designer, from Essex, and their baby would probably follow and that would 'interfere with their private and family life'.
He accepted Sabri's claim that his wife may have trouble finding a job in Pakistan and could suffer ' broadly based threats and difficulties' as a result of being a Christian.

This section of human rights law also prevents Britain from deporting Learco Chindamo, the Italian-born killer of London headmaster Philip Lawrence. But after a year, Sabri simply obtained a provisional licence. In October 2003, he was fined £150 for driving without learner plates. Eight months later, he killed Miss Warne.
She was a gifted student who started studying history at Pembroke College, Oxford, when she was just 16.

She went on to write travel books, including the highly-rated Bradt guide to the west African country of Gabon.
In her spare time, she was a Red Cross volunteer, helping refugees.
In June 2004, Miss Warne was hit by Sabri on a pelican crossing in central London as she made her way home to Brixton, South London, from a party.
In July 2005, he was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving and jailed for three years.
Last year, an Immigration Tribunal ruled that he should be deported but Sabri, funded by legal aid, appealed.
Miss Warne's parents Peter and Louise Warne, both retired company directors, were unaware of his battle to stay in Britain until told by the Daily Mail. They declined to comment.
The Home Office is understood to be deciding whether to continue the fight to deport Sabri, who lives in Grays, Essex, or to admit defeat.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1082768/Illegal-immigrant-killed-brilliant-Oxford-graduate-roaring-red-light-deported--human-rights.html?ITO=1490
The Brits need to be worried about their own system. Law breakers use human rights and no matter what the crime is, the U.K. allows dangerous criminals to stay in the U.K. under the guise of human rights.

Will buying a router fix my gaming issues?

SANE1

So I went to walmart and I was checking out the routers and I saw one where it said it was for streaming hd movies and gaming and all the other basic stuff a regular modem would do but what I want to know is if buying the router is actually going to help me or do nothing at all. So here's my problem: whenever I play black ops 2 on my ps3, my sister is always streaming movies on netflix and it causes me to have an extremely poor connection thus resulting in lag and rendering the game unplayable. However, when she's not streaming, I experience no lag whatsoever so please don't tell me it's lag. Anyway, will the router help me or not? Will it give me more banwidth by getting a router? Is that a common misconception? I of course want to be able to play while she is streaming movies so I'm not sure if that's even possible without upgrading my internet plan. My ISP is verizon and while it is not anything fancy like the fios plan they offer, it runs pretty good larglely in part because about a year or two they connected it straight to a dsl line. The router is about $90 and it is from netgear(sorry I don't know the model). Anyway, any help will be greatly appreciated and I thank you for it.

Answer
No,

A fast router or wireless LAN connection does not make your Internet faster.

A router connects two separate networks and manages the traffic between them.

In most home network applications the router connects your local group of computers and devices known as the LAN with the Internet, commonly called the WAN or Wide Area Network.

Your WAN speed is determined by your ISP and is measured in Mbps (Millions of bits per second).

For example, If you pay for a 3 Mbps Internet connection, you will get 3 Mbps.

No router or wireless connection will change your 3 Mbps Internet speed. This connection bandwidth is shared by your entire LAN via your router.

If you have a 3 Mbps Internet plan and one user is utilizing 2.5 Mbps of the bandwidth to stream a Netflix movie that only leaves 0.5 Mbps for all of the rest of the users on the LAN.

Fast wireless routers and connections are designed to stream large files on your LAN quickly. The high speed routers permit fast transfer of files between devices connected to your LAN, however WAN speed is still limited by your ISP.

You can test your Internet (WAN) speed here: http://speedtest.net

Only way to speed up an Internet connection is to get a faster plan or ISP.

That being said,

For online gaming the two things that are most important are latency and upload speed.

Latency is the delay (ping time) in milliseconds that it takes the signal to travel to the server and back. The lower the number the better, but you'll definitely want a ping time of under 120 ms or you'll have major problems with online gaming. Ideally you want less than 80 ms ping to the gaming server.

Ping time depends on distance and number of connections. Your connection may have to be routed through 15 or 20 hops (different locations) to reach the gaming server. Each server has a delay (latency) due to the distances that the signals must travel. Try to choose a closer gaming server to lower your ping time.

Upload speed also plays a factor in updating your player position data to the gaming server. Slow upload speeds can cause your online game to lag. The faster the better, but at least 0.5 Mbps would be my minimum recommendation.

Wireless connections are not good for systems used for online gaming. Wireless signals are affected by many factors including distance, wall density, electrical interference, directional antenna range,

How do we stop Canadians from illegally coming to America for our superior healthcare?

baby travel systems canada image

Christian

Canadians know that their socialized healthcare with death panels suck, so many are illegally trespassing to steal some of our SUPERIOR healthcare.

Why doesn't Canada just adopt a good free market healthcare system like we have. (Before Obamacare ruins it)

Answer
In 2010, the Frazier institute study estimated that approximately 47,000 residents of Canada received non-emergency medical care outside of Canada in the previous year. That includes new immigrants, non-Canadians on work/study permits, Canadians who may have been working overseas, etc. It also considers procedures such as having a baby non-emergency care. Without even considering these, it still represents less than 0.14% of all Canadians and some tiny fraction of all medical procedures performed on Canadians. Further, the study does not say that those people had the procedure in the United States.

Meanwhile, over 6 million Americans travel abroad each year for medical procedures. That is almost 2% of Americans. Unlike the Canadian study this does not include legal residents (only US citizens), recent immigrants, nor Americans who may have been living overseas and returned in the year. These are people who specifically left for the primary purpose of medical care.

In other words, per capita, Americans are well over 20 times more likely to leave the US for an elective procedure as a Canadian is to leave Canada.

Can anyone recommend a good travel system for a newborn?
