My wife is taking our 17 month old grandaughter on a plane, I would like to know how she can minimize the effect of the pressure changes in the cabin. I've heard anything from have them blow a pinwheel to make sure she has a pacifier in place.

Answer
For take-offs and landings, the best thing you can do is give her a bottle to drink (milk, water, juice - it doesn't matter) or a pacifier.

Baby formula is fine to take with you, and you are not limited to the amount you can bring aboard with you, do not worry.
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/formula.shtm

New regulations allow you to take beverages (including water) from home as long as they are less than 3oz, OR beverages (including water) of any size that you have purchased from inside the security area onto planes. You can also bring a limited amount of baby food onto the plane with you. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#10
Save your money when it comes to buying water though because the stewards/stewardess' will provide you with hot or cold water (or any other drink) free at any time that you request, no matter how many times you request it.

Another trick is that if your granddaughter is not taking to the pacifier or wanting to drink, gently rub her neck from the chin down to the chest several times - this will cause a swallowing motion which will help with the ears popping.

I know this wasn't in your question, but here are a few extra tips that should help make the trip easier:

1.)I advise using a CRS (Child Restraint System) because it is safe for the child, makes them feel secure, is more comfortable for both parent and child, and gives you the opportunity to relax a bit.

FAA regulations currently allow children under the age of two to fly free of charge as "lap children" (not required to have their own seat).

The steward/stewardess should place you in a front seat where you will have more room. Most airlines will provide you with a special baby seat belt that hooks onto yours so your child can be buckled up as well. And depending on the airline and length of flight, the steward/stewardess might give you a crib type thing that attaches to the front wall to put your child in (however you can not uses this during take-off and landing).

This is not the safest way for a child to fly and the airlines recommend children to have their own seat with a child safety device, but does not mandate it because of the cost to the parents.

A CRS is an airline-approved alternative to using a hard-backed seat and is approved for use on aircraft and for use in motor vehicles. Many people confuse it with a regular car seat, which it is not.

This website talks about approved CRS devices and their ratings: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/CPS/CSSRating/Index.cfm

Many airlines offer half-price tickets so parents can be guaranteed that their child can travel in a CRS device. Parents should call their airline to ask for a discount and/or ask what the airline's policy is for using empty seats.

Ask your airline if they can provide a CRS for your child. If so, you may not be permitted to bring your own CRS on board, and may need to check it as baggage.
http://www.faa.gov/passengers/fly_children/crs/

2.) The best time of day to fly is whenever you are comfortable. If you can find a flight that will take off around your child's nap or bedtime, that would be easier, but of course we all know it doesn't always work out that way. The main thing is that you pick a day that you are comfortable with and try to be as relaxed as possible because your son will be able to pick up on any anxiousness or anxiety you might have.

3.) Make sure to pack plenty of things to entertain your granddaughter. A few of her favorite toys, books, and one or two movies if you have one, and any comfort things such as a blankie. The Fa's will also provide you with a toy or coloring book for your son also.

4.) Pack a few instant hot/cold cereals, instant rice, and other just-add-water packets (age appropriate, of course). The stewards/stewardess' will provide you with hot or cold water upon request. You can also bring a limited amount of baby food and a few other non-perishable snack items. Drinks will be provided free at any time that you request, no matter how many times you request.

5.) Be sure to pack 2-3 changes of clothes for your granddaughter. You will need this in case she gets sick, spills something on herself, or in case your luggage gets lost. Also bring any medications that you might need for her should she get sick. Do NOT give her medicine with the hopes of it making him sleep. This is not only cruel, but dangerous as well.

6.) Last but not least, if help is offered to you, take it.

I hope you have a great trip, and if I can be of any more assistance, please feel free to contact me

What will be the best way to take my 8 months old child on an airplane for the first time?

Harry

He is 8 months old and will be riding on my lap with me. Anyone have any sugestions or tips that can make this trip easy for the both of us. He does not breast feed and we will be in the air for about 4 hours with a layover in between.

Answer
I've been flying internationally with my children since they were 2 months (now 7&5), and here are some tips and advice that have always worked for me and I hope will help you:

1.) You will need to have all your babys documents in order. If traveling within the country you generally do not need an ID, but it is always good to keep a notarized copy of his birth certificate with you. Verify what travel documents you will need in advance to make sure you have everything.

Drinks will be provided free at any time that you request, no matter how many times you request.

5.) Make sure to pack plenty of things to entertain your child. A few of his favorite toys, books, and any comfort things such as a blankie. It is also a good idea to buy a few inexpensive toys that you will give to him only once on the plane. It will hep to keep him occupied.

6.) Be sure to pack 2-3 changes of clothes for your child. You will need this in case he gets sick, spills something on himself, or in case your luggage gets lost.

7.) Keep your diaper bag well stocked with plenty of diapers, wipes, ointments and other essential things. Baby nail clippers and scissors are not allowed though. Just remember the new regulating liquids, gels, and such and pack accordingly. You can usually find travel size baby products in stores and they are wonderful for plane use.

8.) Keep your doctors name and number with you. Also get the name and number of a doctor where you are visiting in case an emergency should come up.

Also it is a good idea to have a check-up with your doctor before leaving to make sure your child is healthy enough to fly. If he has even a slight cold, the pressure in her ears during take-off and landing (even if you do the precaution methods) could leave his ears aching for days after the flight.

Most doctors recommend that if anyone is sick (such as being stuffed up or already having an earache), not to take the flight because of the potential damage to the ears. I know my husband and other pilots do not work if they are sick because of this danger.

9.) Bring any medications that you might need for your child should he get sick or that he takes regularly. Remember that if they are not prescription medications, the 3oz rule applies to them and they must be kept in a clear plastic bag.

Do NOT give your child medicine with the hopes of it making him sleep. This is not only cruel, but dangerous as well.

10.) Last but not least, if help is offered to you, take it.

What's your opinion on buying the infant travel system combo?

baby travel systems best buys on ... Baby Stoller & Car Seat Twin Travel System - Forecaster in best price
baby travel systems best buys image

???

I like the idea of the car seat with base and matching stroller combo. But I realize after a little while, I will have to buy another car seat since the infant travel system combo is for babies up to 22lbs. I currently have a practically new stroller.

So I was wondering if I should get the combo or just make do with the stroller I have and buy a convertible car seat, that I can use well after the infant stage?

Answer
trust me when i tell you, you do not want to have to pull a sleeping or cranky baby out of a car seat (or put them back in for that matter) everytime you go somewhere. it's freaking amazing how much easier it is to just pop that infant seat out.

there are safety reasons to have an infant seat as well- they are more reclined and better for the neck of a newborn, which is just one.

Is there any where you can buy Graco Travel Systems that are no longer sold in stores?

Denise W

I'm looking for one of Graco's older travel systems. I wanted it when I had my daughter but we ended up getting a different pattern than what I wanted. Now that I'm pregnant with our second baby I would really like to find this travel system, we already have the stroller and the playpen that match it. Is there any where you can go online to buy the older Graco patterns?
The pattern name is Meridian.

Answer
try craigslist.org.
you can look at ad's and see if you find it or you can post an ad asking if anyone has it.

I am selling my Baby Trend Gabriella travel system. This thing was expensive! We bought it new and its in great condition but it is used. So we paid nearly $400 for the set! I was thinking $75? It this reasonable?

Thanks!
I must add its in perfect condition. I washed the pads and wiped it down. There isnt a mark or stain on it!

Answer
When selling my no longer wanted, used items. I tend to divide the new retail price in half, and then move it up or down according to condition.

$75 is a steal, but you don't want to go too much higher, as those looking for used, will buy a cheaper system brand new, rather than pay more for a pricier used model.

I'd probably list it around $125, as it's worth more than $75, but I'm just not certain you could get the full $200 for it, when you can buy a cheaper set up, brand new for under $200.

For how many years is a typical baby travel system safe?

Erika B

We have an almost 4 yr old and are due with our second child in 5 months. We have everything we need, but a friend warned me against using our carseat and stroller again, becuase it may be out of safety regulation being almost 4 yrs old. It's a Chicco KeyFit 30, and had great safety ratings when we purchased it. Any one know typically how many years a travel system is good for?

Answer
Most car seat brands are 6 years from the date of manufacture. The KeyFit 30 is still considered to be a great seat. Flip it over and look for a "do not use after" date stamped into the shell. Once you're sure it's not expired, use the model number off the seat to search for a recall- for any seat. For the KeyFit, Chicco has only had one recall since 2001 and I don't think your seat was produced between the dates for the recall, here it is http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/childseat.cfm#mfg_anchor

Answer
Consider visiting New Orleans.

NOLA is one of the world's special places with an ambience unique in North America, and remains so even after Katrina devastated it in 2005.

Katrina flooded about 80% of New Orleans with salt water, and the water stayed for almost a month. Much of the city is still struggling to recover and all you have to do to see devastation is drive around. It will take years for NOLA to fully recover from Katrina.

However, the parts of the city that tourists usually visit were not flooded. It's not a coincidence - the French Quarter and other old parts of the city were built on relatively high ground and only suffered wind damage from Katrina. Almost all of the damage has been repaired and you have to look closely in the FQ and city center to see that Katrina happened at all. You should visit and see for yourself.

Note that the City of New Orleans is only part of the greater New Orleans area. The GNO area had a population of about 1,400,000 before Katrina and is estimated at about 1,200,000 now (July, 2007). The absent 200,000 are mostly from the City of New Orleans and the parishes of Plaquemines and Saint Bernard, which were the worst-flooded parts of the metro area. Jefferson Parish - just to the west of the City - suffered only minor flooding and has fully recovered.

You can drink the water, the electricity & phones work, and services like the post office, hospitals, schools, and police/fire/EMS are operating. Restaurants, stores and shopping centers are open.

Municipal services like street cleaning & trash collection collapsed after Katrina. Those services were fully restored in late 2006 and it is no longer an issue.

I recommend staying in the French Quarter (Vieux Carre") if you can. There is a very wide range of selections available, from moderate guest houses to very exclusive "boutique" hotels. Search Yahoo Travel and Travelocity for ideas and also check the hotel websites.

You don't need a car to get around in the French Quarter, Central Business District, or Warehouse District. Also, the parking regulations are Byzantine and there are lots of Parking Control Agents. If you drive or rent a car, leave it in a lot or garage unless you are traveling away from downtown.

The regional transit authority (www.norta.com) sells 1 and 3 day passes that offer unlimited use of buses and streetcars for the day(s) you select. There are also lots of taxicabs.

Regarding crime, questions like yours tend to attract highly negative "answers" from people who do not live here and who have little or no idea what they are talking about. Use the same common sense necessary in every major city in the world and there is little chance you will be a victim of anything except a need to visit the gym: Pay attention to your surroundings. Don't leave something like a camera-bag, purse, or backpack unattended on a park bench while you wander off to take photos. Etc.

New Orleans has mild weather from late October to early May and the city stays green all year most years (rarely freezes and almost never snows). We pay for the mild winters with hot, humid summers â particularly in July & August. The good news for summertime visitors is that hotel rates are lower.

Things to do:

There are many sightseeing opportunities in the greater New Orleans area, including carriage rides/tours, plantation tours, swamp tours, ghost tours, and even Katrina disaster tours. The steamboat Natchez also does a harbor tour. There are numerous tour companies and your hotel can help with the arrangements. Try to avoid scheduling an outdoor tour until you know the weather forecast for the day in question.

The Saint Charles Streetcar is the oldest continuously operating street railway in the world and is a "tourist attraction" in its own right. It is part of the public transit system, as are the Canal Street and Riverfront streetcar lines: http://www.norta.com/

There is always music, but the bands change: Go to www.bestofneworleans.com and click on Music then Listings or to www.offbeat.com and click on Listings, then Music. Note that music clubs often advertise "No Cover", meaning there is no charge for entering. However, clubs with "No Cover" often require that customers buy a beverage each for every "set " of music (which can be every 20 minutes) so know the price before you sit down. The clubs do that because some people will sit in the club all evening drinking water or nothing. It is also a good idea to pay for each round of drinks (in clubs on Bourbon Street) as it s delivered so there can't be any confusion at the end of the evening.

Wander around the French Quarter, enjoy the architecture, watch the street entertainers (do tip), and visit some of the historic buildings that have been turned into museums (go to www.frenchquarter.com and click on Historic Attractions).

Assuming the weather is good, you can collect a sandwich lunch and eat in the riverfront park (watch the shipping) or in Jackson Square (a very nice park).

The Riverwalk shopping center has an air-conditioned food court with dining overlooking the river (www.riverwalkmarketplace.com). The Canal Place shopping center is in the French Quarter and has a cinema and higher-end shopping (Saks 5th Avenue, Brooks Brothers, etc.)

The lobby for the Westin Canal Place Hotel is on the 11th floor and overlooks the French Quarter. It is a great place for an afternoon drink/snack:(www.westin.com).

Cafe du Monde is in the French Quarter and you shouldn't miss having cafe au lait & beignets (www.cafedumonde.com). Another great coffee shop is the Croissant d'Or (at 615 Ursulines Street), which is open from 7:00am to 2:00pm and has food in addition to pastry.

The Palm Court restaurant is very nice, has moderate prices, and traditional live jazz starting at 8:00pm: 1204 Decatur Street, tel 504-525-0200 (reservations are important and they are not open every day). The Palm Court is closed from about July 25th to about September 25th each year.

All of the famous restaurants (Antoine's, Arnaud's, Brennan's, Commander's Palace, etc.) have reopened. The Pelican Club (on Exchange Alley in the FQ) is not as well known but is the same type experience. Reservations are a good idea, and probably essential on weekends.

Cafe Degas is a very French restaurant near City Park at 3127 Esplanade - which is not within walking distance of downtown (5 to 10 minutes by taxi). They are closed on Mondays & Tuesdays (504-945-5635).

There is a free ferry across the Mississippi at the "foot" of Canal Street. It is a short trip but like a harbor cruise w/o a guide: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/canal_street_ferry

The Aquarium and Audubon Zoo are world-class attractions (www.auduboninstitute.org) and you should see them if you can. The Zoo is several miles from downtown. You can drive to the Zoo (which has free parking) or take public transit from the French Quarter.

The Louisiana State Museum is in the French Quarter: http://lsm.crt.state.la.us/ New Orleans is also home to a number of other museums, such as the National World War II Museum (www.ddaymuseum.org) and the New Orleans Museum of Art (www.noma.org). Both can be reached by public transit: The WWII museum is in the central business district but a long walk from the French Quarter. NOMA is not within walking distance of downtown but has free parking.

New Orleans City Park has an amusement park with rides and attractions for children + free parking (www.neworleanscitypark.com).

Check www.frenchquarter.com for ideas on other things to do.

Hope you have a good visit, wherever you go!

what did the new health care reform law actually do?

??? im writing an essay about the us health care system... which i know nothing about. if anyone would like to elaborate on maybe.. the comparison between the health care system in the us and other countries, and what how the us might attempt to fix these problems, it would help SO much. I need some basics... health care for dummies.. and then some. its hard to write an essay on something you know nothing about. i've tried to research, but it seems that everything i find is for people who already know what theyre talking about.

Answer
The NHS (Great Britain's National Health Care System) started in the very way American health care reform was promoted by the Democrats, the left and Obama. More than sixty years ago, Britain's original plan was to provide universal care to the half of the population - mainly women, children and the elderly - who had no health coverage.

In the United States Obama has decided to exploit 10% of the uninsured as a means to coerce the other 90% to submit to a system the majority rejects.
http://www.cato.org/pubs/catosletter/catosletterv3n1.pdf
Barry, Harry and Nancy, the tyrannical trio, are in the process of imposing health care reform at a time when the world watches in horror as the British prototype falls apart.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1255842/Mother-Aida-Los-fury-babys-death-crisis-hit-John-Radcliffe-Hospital.html

Unable to sustain the high cost of "free" health care, Britain's NHS officially hit the rocks and its crumpled body is presently lying dead at the bottom of a socialist ravine. Yet, the President remains resolute in his desire to push America over a similar precipice, well aware that rationing is in America's future

To save money in an already abysmal health care system, Britain plans to implement further rationing. Unbeknownst to the British people, lines will be even longer for ill-fated patients destined to die of dehydration at the hands of "lazy" nurses in understaffed government run hospitals.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1255858/Neglected-lazy-nurses-Kane-Gorny-22-dying-thirst-rang-police-beg-water.html

In the future, if traveling to England, tourists should also be prepared to see many more crippled, blind people with crooked teeth, because the NHS plans to judiciously mete out knee and hip replacements, cataract surgery, and orthodontic procedures.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/7908742/Axe-falls-on-NHS-services.html
Yet, Obama presses on.

British patient advocate groups are calling the draconian NHS measures "astonishingly brutal." An overbite is nothing compared to what "free" health care, akin to the type Obama promises Americans, will be delivering to our friends across the pond, especially the elderly. Apparently, "widespread cuts ... have already been agreed to by senior health service officials," better known in America as "death panels." - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aogCaGv9i78&feature=player_embedded

Maybe one day when the world acknowledges the injustice of denying care to the elderly, there will be an exhibition similar to the shoe heap http://remember.org/jacobs/ShoeHeap.html at the Auschwitz-Birkenau museum, only the pile will be comprised of discarded walkers. o_O

Have you used the evenflo journey elite pink lemonade travel system?

ani4ani

I just got the carseat installed in my car and it seems as though the back sits too high for a newborn baby's head. Have you used this in your vehicle? I am just a worried mother.

Answer
Evenflo infant seats can really be hard to install and I usually do not recommend them anyway. They are always being recalled and are not made too well imo. A couple of years ago they did a crash test on an Evenflo Discovery infant seat and on impact the seat flew off of the base and went through the rear window. They have also had recalls on the handles because they break with the baby's in them and there have been several injuries because of that.
If you are able to I would recommend going to Baby's R Us and try some of the car seats out in your car before you buy one. I bought a Graco Snugride 35 for my baby and it installed great into my car. Plus you can leave the handle up in the car which the Evenflo car seats you cannot do. By leaving the handle up in your car you can save a lot of space.
If you do decide to keep the Evenflo infant seat please take it to a car seat tech and have them fit it for you in your car.

Anyone ever had an ultrasound turn out to be wrong?

I had an ultrasound at 18 weeks, (I'm now 29 weeks) and they said it was a girl. I'm thrilled. I wanted another girl.
BUT- Now that I have a closet full of pink, and pink crib set, and a purple carseat/travel system, I'm starting to get doubts. If this turns out to be a boy, I have nothing for him! It doesn't help that EVERY stranger that talks to me always says Oh, your having a boy! When I say no, they can't beleive it. I've been told that my stomach looks like a basketball and I'm carrying very low, so it must be a boy. Other's say that I haven't gained much weight, and I'm looking good so it must be a boy. I'm even craving meats and spicey food and that old wives tale says it's a boy too. The only thing that says girl was the 1 minute discussion during the ultrasound.
Has anyone ever had one be wrong?
I hate to care so much about old wives tales, but I can't seem to help it now!

Answer
With my second baby, the Dr said it was a girl for sure. We went out and bought everything pink. Both families bought all pink. We had to have an emergency ultrasound, and we found out exactly one month before HE was born that there was no way we were having a girl. We got a lot of strange looks when we were rushing to all the stores trying to exchange everything for blue.

As for the carrying a basketball, I am now and I just found out I am having a girl. I am 25 weeks and have only gained 4 lbs. The wives tales are not all that correct.

I would reeealllyyyy like an answer from some sort of a history expert
Or someone that just really knows what theyâre talking about.
Because Iâm 17 years old. I came from India to the U.S when I was 7.
And well, in my textbooks in school it shows dead bodies laying on the ground and beggars everywhere
And thatâs really a small portion or certain cities/providences in India. They make India seem like the poorest underprivileged nation in the world and as if the entire nation consists of small villages and shacks with no electricity. I mean I donât want to be bias just because Iâm from there. I would really like to know the truth. My AP world history teacher said itâs one of the richest nations on earth in 2013 due to it military power, its technology, their education, their culture and the successful people that have migrated here.
Where as, to foreigners India seem likes like pure filth! And while that maybe the case in certain distinct areas, every nation has itâs ups and downs. Iâm not trying to root for India nor am I against it, but honestly, is it still a 3rd world country. It has really become advanced from the last time I went there in â12.
However I agree that India has its own crazy issues. A five year old girl getting raped, a tourist getting gang raped, a girl poured acid on her face by her father because he didnât want a girl, a baby girl being sold on face book, bombs going off due to radical Muslims. I know itâs not utopia Im aware of that.

But we have everything that America does. Literally. When it comes to the environment, education, maybe more culture and differentiation in foods, religious shrines for all sorts of unique religions, beautiful clothing, luxurious amentities that can all be offered in the U.S. too.
So, what do you think?
Thanks for the feedback.

Answer
No it's really not. It has changed dramatically from what it was a decade ago. It's definately not a 3rd world country. It's a fast developing economy. It's one of the world's richest & powerful (defense) countries. As you might know it's a huge country (7th largest) it will take quite sometime to get it on par with other developed countries. Major cities are world class with modern infrastructure and educated people. The problem lies in the villages where illiteracy and poverty dominates, but that's all fast changing and will catchup with the cities in the next few years. Literacy rate has increased quite a lot compared to what it was a decade ago. Poverty is still an issue as the population is humongous. Another factor hindering the growth of the nation is CORRUPTION. All the other problems would be overcome in the next decade or so but it's very difficult to tackle corruption which has permeated into the system from the lowest of the scales to the highest. But again this a common problem. I have travelled to many developed and developing countries and India is certainly among the best 'developing' nations. However, it still has a long way to go to be amongst the advanced economies.Whatever the way it is, but there is this certain thing about India you will never find anywhere in the world. The people, culture, values, festivities, languages, cusines, geographical and demographical diversity, it feels vibrant! There's so many things to be proud about this nation, but the negative aspects are always highlighted especially by the snobs from the so called "developed" nations.

Car dealership lied about the state of the vehicle ...what can i do about it?

Nate

We live in Texas and we were shopping online for Kia Soul, and on autotrader site we found an awesome deal for brand new kia soul for the price on 13.990$, it had pictures there from the vehicle and the VIN number. We ran a check on the VIN number on carhistory.us.org and it came back that the vehicle was in perfect condition. So we called the dealership (internet sales) and they checked our credits and all that and we made arrangements to go to Oklahoma city, where the dealership was located. Now...we traveled 6 hours in one direction, with rented car, and a one year old baby, so everyone who has done this knows how uncomfortable it can be for everyone, specially the baby. When we arrived there, they pretended that they dont know who we are, when they found us in the system, they showed us the car which was all holes from hail damage. Now .... again, how can a car whos vin number states its in perfect condition ends up being in terrible condition?
I got angry as hell and did some serious yelling cause if i knew that they were selling us that car i wouldnt have put my child through all that, not to mention the expensive rent car (cause its way more expensive in one direction - 198$).
Now they are trying to sell us another car, for a price that is higher then this.
Is this a case of false advertising or not? And if so....what can i do?
Can i make the dealership come true with their original deal? Should they offer me the car at the price which was originally posted?

We went through such a big ordeal that i cant even start to explain :-( i would appreciate any advice
Thank u!
To all of you who gave an answer... Thank you! For Rob and the? ... Thank you for all your sarcasm. Here is an advice... Since you cant say anything nice, how about not posting anything else?? This is for people who actually seek or want to help. ... Since u r none, u should stay away from it and not resolve ur personal frustrations and lack of knowledge to insult other people.
You should be banned and prohibited from participating in any future questions.
If you ever wondered about what you might be in life... Look no further cause I have the answer for you : an absolute idiot and an a**oooo. There... The everlasting mystery of your existence has been resolved!!! Hiphiphuraaay!!!!

Answer
None of the VIN-check sites can guarantee anything. If you notice, even CarFax (the worst of the lot) has changed their TV ads to reflect that they can only report what is reported to them. None of the reports hold any kind of legal water, either.

There is no guarantee of the sale until paperwork is signed and you drive off in the vehicle (pending lender approval). You have the right to turn down the vehicle offered (you did), and choose another or move on.

Is this the vehicle you were looking at? -->

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=73127&endYear=2013&modelCode1=SOUL&showcaseOwnerId=573592&startYear=2013&makeCode1=KIA&sellerTypes=b&searchRadius=25&maxPrice=14000&mmt=%5BKIA%5BSOUL%5B%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&minPrice=13900&listingId=338705626&listingIndex=1&Log=0

If so, it doesn't mention why they marked the car down so much, but... they don't legally have to. The fact that they didn't tell you about hail damage was dirty, but you're not out anything in the process. You would've had to travel that far to look at the vehicle, anyway.

If you're planning or threatening a lawsuit, know that no court in the nation will award you anything. Carhistory.us.org isn't a legal document, and will even tell you this on their site. (And, of course a VIN would come back without a scratch on their site... it's new... and none of these sites tell you anything about a vehicle's condition, which is a relative item. They only tell you reported service history, number of owners, and comparable market worth.)

Jogging stroller versus travel system – pros and cons, & what about hiking?

baby travel systems all terrain on Jane Powertrack 360 Travel System All Terrain Buggy Pushchair | eBay
baby travel systems all terrain image

Woodland H

Iâm thinking of getting a jogging stroller to use on our local hiking trails here. Has anyone ever hiked on trails using a jogging stroller? Or is it just meant for dirt roads & that type of terrain? What is it like hiking? Oh also, do jogging strollers come w/ the infant car seat? Does the basket underneath have ample storage compared to a travel system stroller?

What else are the pros & cons of jogger vs travel system? TIA!

Answer
Our Jogging Stroller turns by lifting the front wheel, which is a hassle to use for strolling around town, so we've got a variety of different types of strollers. I've used the jogging stroller on trails and mostly mulit-use paths (paved and dirts paths for biking and walking), never used it for hiking back country and while it's easier to push, I would think it would be unstable for hiking purposes (if the trails are bumpy and have obstacles).

The jogging stroller really isn't great for babies that aren't sitting up yet, it doesn't come with a special infant seat and we much preferred a standard stroller when our little guy was an infant (he could recline and sleep, plus the shade bonnet was bigger to protect him from the sun.

We opted not to get a Travel System, and it's worked out great. We've never had a problem with getting the baby in and out of the carseat to the stroller, and it's less gear to carry around. Car seats are in the cars permanently and we only used our infant seat carseat in shopping carts for a few months.

All in all, the jogging stroller is not getting used much at all, I prefer using the Kolcraft Contours stroller for our little guy. I suggest you visit some stores and see the different types personally, then shop on line to maybe save some money.

Hope this helps!
Best Wishes!

Maclaren twin triumph stroller for a newborn?

Emmy's mum

I have been given a Maclaren twin triumph stroller. I am due in february when my daughter will be 21 months old. I'm wondering if it will be suitable for my newborn? I know it does fully recline and is meant to take a newborn safely, but on the practical side, how is the newborn strapped in? Is there any kind of carrycot that fits into it? Would it be comfortable?

Answer
My best friend got pregnant a few months back so I had been in charge of certain things since then, and one of them is being the Pushchair shopper. So being the geek that I am I did a full research of the best pushchairs - so much so that I swear Pushchair companies can now hire me as an infomercial host and I'll do really well! lol

Anyway, to answer your question my dear, as a matter of fact the Maclaren Triumph is NOT suitable for newborns. It can recline to more than 150 degrees, but it's only suitable from 3 months onwards according to the manufacturer, but I personally inspected the pushchair and I wouldn't put a child in there who couldn't sit up properly on their own just yet. Don't get me wrong - I think the Triumph is one of the best strollers around, but it's best for children from 6 months onwards in my opinion.

The Maclaren Triumph is a lightweight stroller, NOT a travel system, hence no carrycots will fit with it. If you want a pushchair that you can use from birth up until your baby is 3 or 4 years old, your best bet is to buy a pushchair that you can convert into a pram/stroller and travel system.

The most popular models that fulfill this criteria that are also getting great reviews from parents are:
Maclaren Techno XLR Travel System
Graco Quattro Tour TSB
Silver Cross 3D Pram System

There are loads more, but it's hard to make recommendations with the information you gave. There really are a lot you need to consider before buying a pushchair, as making the wrong purchasing decision could be a costly mistake that you'll end up doing over and over again until you get it right! (I know other parents who bought more than 3 pushchairs within 2 years!)

For example, you need to check if the handle height is suitable for you, if it's small enough to fit in your boot, if the wheels are suitable for the terrains you'll be using it in, if the seats are washable and easy to clean, if it's easy to fold/unfold with one hand, if it's easy to use for public transport, if the shopping basket is big enough for your needs and if it's accessible, etc.

What is the best way to help babies clear their ears when flying?

baby travel systems ratings on Travel Systems - Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System was sold for ...
baby travel systems ratings image

Gerry297

Many people confuse it with a regular car seat, which it is not.
http://faa.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/faa.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=29&p_created=1071174367&p_sid=mn66D6wi&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NCZwX3Byb2RzPSZwX2NhdHM9MCZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PWNoaWxk&p_li=&p_topview=1

What do you think of baby trend products?

<3

I had never considered anything other than Graco really because it's all my family has ever used & with my first that's all I used however today I went to babies r us and found a jogger travel system that I absolutely loved! it seemed much more sturdy than the graco because the graco was made of all plastic.... so I checked out babytrend.com and found all these things graco didn't offer.. but I'm wondering how safe the products are??

Answer
Baby Trend products do not have the best reputation. Many of my friends and myself had had problems with the seat back adjuster of the stroller snapping, sending the child back. The locking front wheel for jogging also tends to come unlocked when you are using it. The Baby Trend infant car seats receive good ratings but the handle must be down when he seat is used in the car making it difficult to use in many vehicles.
To put it simply, the seats are safe when used properly although it is a little difficult. the strollers are not reliable.

So I'm looking at travel systems and cribs right now.
And I'm curious what do you think is the best brand?

I'm looking for it at different stores for cheap like Walmart, Target, Shopko.

I see Cosco, Graco, Evenflo, Safety first. What are the best brands you recommend or doctors recommend?
Also, what does it mean when it says use of 1 month and up? What should I use as a car seat before she is one month?

Answer
I have an evenflo travel system and have had no problems with it. When I switch to a bigger car seat I am planning on a Graco as I just like them better. I have a Graco playpen, a fisher price swing a stork craft crib (yes there was recalls, but tons of baby products get recalled all the time....most times because people dont use them properly) Honestly...most products you see in stores are good and safe. If they werent they wouldnt be sold.

I have narrowed my choices down to three. The Joovy Groove, The Maclaren Triumph or the Graco IPO.
I have a Graco travel system now and have loved it for the past 2 years, but now that my daughter is older I am looking for something that takes up less space for when we travel.

I would go to the store and look at the strollers but no one within 100 miles of my house sells any of these I'm looking at. Anyone have one of them? Which do you recommend?

Answer
I LOVE my Maclaren! I have the top model (XLR?). Made very well, very sturdy, lots of cushioning for baby. Folds nicely. Very happy with my choice. It also has the highest weight limit.

Go on Amazon and read some parent reviews, you can see what the majority of people like ir dislike.

Buying a stroller and car seat, which is better?

abell

I am looking to buy a stroller and a car seat. I see that they have the 2 in 1's a car seat and a stroller for a set amount but then again you can buy them seperate. Which would you recommend?

Answer
That depends. If you've already made the decision that you want an infant seat with handle that fits on a stroller, then buying a travel system is an easy way to go. It makes sure that the stroller and seat work together, and match. However, its not the cheapest way to go, and most often the stroller that comes with a travel system will not be a high quality stroller that will last you as long as you need it to . Most people that buy a travel system end up needing to purchase another stroller at some point b/c it gives out or just doesn't meet their needs anymore. And of course, the infant car seat only lasts 4-7 months, one of the many reasons I'm not a fan. I don't like a $60 or more car seat that only lasts that long before I'm out shopping again. One thing to think about: you don't HAVE to get an infant seat - its not a requirement. You can instead get a convertible car seat and use it rear facing. That way you eliminate buying an extra, shortlived seat. If you buy an infant seat, realize the baby will outgrow it at 4-7 months old, and then you will need to buy a convertible car seat and use it rear facing. If that seat lasts the child at least 4 years, then you will need to purchase a booster seat. So that's 3 seats - if you skip the infant carrier, then you're only out the money for 2. And realize that lots of the ways you see parents using those seats are not safe.

Infant carrier seats should never be placed on top of grocery carts. Since they became popular, there has been a major rise of baby injuries b/c the seat makes the cart unstable and it topples over. And not all carts fit on the seat well, putting baby at awkward angles. The AAP says never to put one on top of a cart.

And they are overused - babies are having developmental delays from spending their days in the same position in car seats, bouncy seats, swings and the like. Look around the next time you're out. Count how many babies you see. Now count how many of them were sitting in a car seat...It shouldn't be that way. A good sling will last longer (skip the infantino/snuglis, they don't last long and are overpriced and hard to use) will last you longer, keep baby happy, keep your back from aching, and keep your hands free. See the links. I'll get off my soapbox, lol.

Instead of the travel system, if you want the infant seat, you can choose the seat you want, and then get a universal car seat carrier frame, baby trend makes the snap 'n go, combi has flash ex, and I forget the name of the one Kolcraft makes. That way when you're past the infant seat stage, you sell the stroller and get a better one that suits your needs. Ever been to a thrift store? Seen how many Graco Quattro tours and Graco Literiders, Evenflo Aura and Onmyway strollers there were, usually missing parts and in awful shape? Its b/c they don't stand up to the abuse they get from regular use. How many combi, chicco, peg perego, maclaren strollers do you see? Not many. They don't fall apart - people just keep using them! lol I highly recommend checking out a high end stroller. Especially if you plan on more than one child, you won't be sorry b/c it will last.

P.S. If you decide to go with a convertible instead - very few fit newborns really well - the best for newborns are Evenflo Triumph Advance (which is just a great seat all around!), First Years/Compass TruFit (another GREAT seat that lasts a LONG time), and Cosco Scenera (a good seat for the price, great for a newborn).

I have a travel system but it's so heavy and bulky! I don't want to spend more than 150.00. Thanks!

Answer
Personally I love my jogging stroller. It's a baby trend, we bought it for under $100, and is very easy to push, maneuverable, fits anywhere I can walk through... but when you fold it to put it in a car then it can be bulky and heavy, but at the same time it was easier than the travel system we used. I can tell you now that I don't think any other stroller than one with a bit rubber tires could have made it through the snow we waded through today. :)

My suggestion is to go to a store like Babies R Us and try their strollers out. You can always go home and find the best price later, but unless you push it around you'll never know.

Does pregnancy allow for any alteration in the processing of a fiance K-2 visa?

baby travel systems 2013 on Navy Blue with green and grey stripes. Complete Graco travel system ...
baby travel systems 2013 image

Tayla B

I am a US citizen and my fiance lives in the UK. We have applied for a K-2 fiance visa so that he can travel to the US and we can get married within the 90 day window. However, I am pregnant and the due date is the 2nd June 2013. Our visa application is still being processed in the US and it seems increasingly doubtful that he will receive his visa in time to travel to the US for the birth of our son.

Is there any way that he can travel to the US and the K-2 fiance visa can finished being processed while he is here? He cannot miss the birth of our son and I don't want him to have to leave the baby and I after his birth. Does anyone have any advice they could offer in this scenario.

Thank you

Answer
no, the system isn't responsive enough to even react to that information. so, once you put in the paperwork, it just keeps moving forward in the big line until it's your turn. of course, if he's a citizen of the UK, he doesn't need a visa to visit. however, given your K petition for him, they may not believe he's simply a tourist who wants to visit and go back, but it is at least possible they'd let him visit if he's honest about it.

Can someone please educate me about this ovulating and menstrual thing?

kayla

Hi. I can't never understand this ovulation thing.

For example, i have my period on the 29/10/2013 and it ends on the 5/11/2013 (it usually last for about 7-8days) and my next period is due (approx) on the 28/12/2013.. Does that mean I have a 23 days cycle? (Start counting on the 6/11/2013, first day after period) am i right?

How bout the ovulation/fertile days?

23 subtract 14 days so i will be most likely to be fertile on the 9th?

So what's the safe and unsafe day to have sex?

Thanks for the information anyway much appreciate. I'm 19 yes i wanna know more about it and get to know my body more.

Answer
MENSTRUATION.
Your cycle length is determined by counting the first day of your period to the first day of your next period. If you have a regular period including allowing 2-4 days either way, then you will know your cycle length. Most women have a cycle length between 21-45 days in length. Every woman is different. A regular period is one that comes every month, despite being a few days early or late.
An irregular period is a period that can be missed for 1-5 months, then have a period.
A textbook cycle length is 28 days, but its completely normal for a woman to have a cycle length between 21-45 days. Some women are even out of this range.

You had your last period 29/10/13. If your period is due 28/12/13, this would make your cycle 30 days in length.

How do you know that your period is due 28/12/13? Do you have an app telling you this, or do you count the days ahead?

Look back over your periods for the last few months and count the days between the first day of your periods to the first day of your next period. See how many days your cycle length has been over a few months and this should give you a rough cycle length.

OVULATION:
Ovulation is the split second process of an egg being released from the ovary. This happens ONCE day a month. Ovulation day is different for every woman depending on their cycle length.
Ovulation is most commonly between day 10 - day 25 of a cycle, depending on cycle length.
Textbook ovulation states day 14, but this is not for everyone. If a person has a short cycle length they will ovulate before day 14, if they have a long cycle length, they will ovulate later than day 14.

Ovulation is most commonly 12-14 days prior to the day your period is due. Please note, this is NOT day 12-14 of your cycle, but 12-14 days prior to your period due date. This is a rough guide and is not always accurate.

FERTILE DAYS:
Your fertile days are the 4 days leading up to ovulation day, ovulation day and the day after ovulation day. 6 Fertile days a month.

Sperm can survive inside the fallopian tubes for up to 7 days, more commonly and most likely no longer than 5 days.

An egg once released from the ovary is only alive and able to be penetrated by sperm for a limited time only, usually no more than 48 hours after being released from the ovary. After this, the egg is dead, it dissolves and you cannot get pregnant.

NO EGG = NO BABY.

An egg must be alive for sperm to penetrate the egg. Sperm penetrating egg = conception.
Once sperm penetrate the egg, the egg divides/multiplies as it travels the fallopian tube and implants into the uterus. It continues to multiply/divide and forms in the baby.
So, if sperm do not meet egg, there is no baby.

-----> DO NOT rely on an app for safe sex days or ovulation days. It is a computer program. It can be wrong. An app is a computer system, programmed with dates. Your body is individual, it does not run like the app. Many things can affect ovulation and your periods and an app computer program can change/alter or even detect these.

Ovulation kits are available to work out when you ovulate, tracking/recording your cervical mucous and your basal temp for a few months can show where in your cycle you ovulate.

I have had a 28 day cycle for 20+ years, and I have always ovulated on day 16/ day 17 of my cycle.
Apps, computer programs tell me that I ovulate on day 14, but I never have and still don't. I have had 3 pregnancies, and my cycle and ovulation is still the same. If I went by an app for ovulation, 2-3 days out is a big difference and pregnancy would most likely not come easily.

Unless you know your exact ovulation there is no safe/unsafe day to have sex. You need to work out when you ovulate in order to find out when you are fertile or not (safe/unsafe). But really, what can be your safe days, could be unsafe if you ovulate early or late for some reason, and this is very possible as ovulation is affected by many internal/external factors.

If you are thinking about using ovulation to determine safe/unsafe days to have sex, then you could be playing with fire. If you don't want to get pregnant, then make sure you use a condom and use another form of birth control --> oral pill, injection, implant, patch etc etc.

It's fine to keep a track and learn your body, your cycle and your ovulation, but never assume you are safe to have unprotected sex as its common for women to ovulate up to 4 days early or late depending on what factors have affected them.

i mean,is there really any reason i should be proud of being an american? there are many other countries that share the same freedoms we do,in fact we are a lot less free than we once were,we are not the richest,we are not the smartest,we are the most overweight, and we are anything but open minded.

Answer
I have travelled all around the world, and on the whole, America could be rated as the best country for a variety of reasons.

1) The people: Americans have a (well-deserved) reputation worldwide of being the most generous people on earth. It's true.

2) The land: America has the most incredible diversity of natural splendor; everything from dense forests to amazing beaches.

3) Opportunity: America is one of the few places where hard work really will pay off. There are no difficult barriers to overcome. If you are a black man in America, you can be President.

4) Inventions: You would be astounded at all the things invented in America. America has contributed more to the comfort and progress of the world than any 10 countries combined. Here's a list of American inventions.

Electronic televisions (http://www.tvhistory.tv/Philo.htm ), email, transistors, microwave oven, tobacco cigarette, refrigerator, lcd screens, plasma TVs, computer chips, lightbulb, fluorescent light, electronic calculators, VCR, harddrive, internet, telephone, cellphone, satellite communication, portable communication radios(walkie talkie), digital satellites, stabilized rubber(shoes, condoms, tires, etc), nuclear powerplants, moon rovers, martian rovers, digital music(a/d converters), inkjet printers, laser printers, copy machine, best modern medicines, iron furnace stove, electric stove, air conditioning, airplane(engine-powered), animation (motion-picture), aspartame(sugarless sweetner), assembly line, automated teller machine (ATM), prepared baby food, bag (flat-bottomed paper), bandage (adhesive), barcode, barbed wire,

Chances are, you didn't even have the patience to read through all those, did you? Well, that just proves my point about the awesome range of American ingenuity.

My daughters is 2 1/2 months when should I.....?

Q. start giving her baby cearal/food. and what do you recommend starting first?

Answer
When should I introduce solids?
You can introduce solids any time between 4 and 6 months if your baby is ready (see "How will I know when my baby's ready," below). Until then, breast milk or formula provides all the calories and nourishment your baby needs and can handle. His digestive system simply isn't ready for solids until he nears his half-birthday. Waiting until your baby is ready greatly reduces the risk of an allergic reaction and shortens the transition time between spoon- and self-feeding.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that babies be breastfed exclusively for at least six months â though parents will attest that some babies are eager and ready to eat solids earlier.

How will I know when my baby's ready?
Your baby will give you clear signs when he's ready to move beyond liquid-only nourishment. Cues to look for include:
⢠Head control. Your baby needs to be able to keep his head in a steady, upright position.

⢠Losing the "extrusion reflex." To keep solid food in his mouth and then swallow it, your baby needs to stop using his tongue to push food out of his mouth.

⢠Sitting well when supported. Even if he's not quite ready for a highchair, your baby needs to be able to sit upright to swallow well.

⢠Chewing motions. Your baby's mouth and tongue develop in sync with his digestive system. To start solids, he should be able to move food to the back of his mouth and swallow. As he learns to swallow efficiently, you may notice less drooling. He may also be teething around the same time.

⢠Significant weight gain. Most babies are ready to eat solids when they've doubled their birth weight (or weigh about 15 pounds) and are at least 4 months old.

⢠Growing appetite. He seems hungry â even with eight to ten feedings of breast milk or formula a day.

⢠Curiosity about what you're eating. Your baby may begin eyeing your bowl of rice or reaching for a forkful of fettuccine as it travels from your plate to your mouth.

How should I introduce solid food?
A good rule of thumb is to start with rice cereal, which is gluten-free and less allergenic than other foods. First, nurse or bottle-feed your baby. Then give him one or two teaspoons of dry cereal mixed with enough formula or breast milk to make a semi-liquid. Use a rubber-tipped spoon when you feed your baby, to avoid injuring his gums. Start with just a small amount of cereal on the tip of the spoon.

If your baby doesn't seem very interested in eating off the spoon, let him smell and taste the cereal or wait until he warms up to the idea of eating something solid. Don't add solid food to your baby's bottle or he may not make the connection that food is to be eaten sitting up and from a spoon.

Begin with a once-a-day feeding, whenever it's convenient for you and your baby, but not at a time when your baby seems tired or cranky. Your baby may not eat much in the beginning, but give him time to get used to the experience. Some babies need practice keeping food in their mouths and swallowing.

Once he gets used to his new diet, he'll be ready for a few tablespoons of cereal a day. As the amount he eats increases, gradually thicken the consistency of the cereal and add another feeding.

How will I know when my baby's full?
Your baby's appetite will vary from one feeding to the next, so a strict accounting of the amount he's eaten isn't a reliable way to tell when he's had enough. If your baby leans back in his chair, turns his head away from food, starts playing with the spoon, or refuses to open up for the next bite, he has probably had enough. (Sometimes a baby will keep his mouth closed because he hasn't yet finished with the first mouthful, so be sure to give him time to swallow.)

Do I still need to give my baby breast milk or formula?
Yes, your baby will need breast milk or formula until he's a year old. Both provide important vitamins, iron, and protein in an easy-to-digest form. Solid food can't replace all the nutrients that breast milk or formula provides during that first year.

How should I introduce other solid food?
Introduce other solids gradually, one at a time, waiting at least three days after each new food. This way you'll get a heads-up if your baby has an allergic reaction to one of them (signs of an allergy may include diarrhea, a bloated tummy, increased gas, or a rash). If there's a family history of allergies, or your baby develops an allergic reaction during this process, start waiting up to a week between new foods.

Even though it's a good idea to get your baby accustomed to eating a wide variety of foods, it'll take time for him to get used to each new taste and texture. Each baby will have unique food preferences, but the transition should go something like this:

1. Semi-liquid cereals
2. Strained or mashed fruits and vegetables
3. Finely chopped table foods, including meat and other protein sources

When your baby has mastered cereal, offer a few tablespoons of vegetables or fruit in the same meal as a cereal feeding. Good foods to start with include sweet potatoes, squash, applesauce, bananas, carrots, oatmeal, peaches, and pears. All food should be strained or mushy â at this stage your baby will press the food against the top of his mouth and then swallow.

If you're feeding your baby from ready-to-eat jars of baby food, scoop some into a little dish and feed him from that.If you dip his feeding spoon into the jar, you won't be able to save the leftovers because you'll have introduced bacteria from his mouth into the jar. Also, throw away any baby food jars within a day or two of opening them.

Some experts recommend introducing yellow fruits and vegetables first because they're easiest to digest, but others advise going green from the start so your baby doesn't develop a preference for the sweeter taste of the yellow foods. It's up to you which route to take. Either way, don't leave any food off his menu simply because you don't like it. And stay away from foods that might cause an allergic reaction early on, and foods that might cause him to choke.

If your baby turns away from a particular food, don't push. Try again in a week or so. He may never like sweet potatoes, or he may change his mind several times and end up loving them.

Don't be surprised if your baby's stools change color and odor when you add solids to his diet. If your baby has been exclusively breastfed up to this point, you'll probably notice a strong odor to his formerly sweet-smelling stools as soon as he starts eating even tiny amounts of solids. This is normal. If his stools seem too firm (rice cereal, bananas, and applesauce can contribute to constipation), switch to other fruits and vegetables and oatmeal or barley cereal.

How many times a day should my baby be eating solid food?
At first he'll eat semi-liquid cereal mix just once a day. By around 8 months he should be eating solid food three times a day. A typical day's diet at this point might consist of:

⢠Breast milk or iron-fortified formula
⢠Iron-fortified cereal
⢠Yellow and green vegetables
⢠Fruit
⢠Small amounts of protein such as poultry, cottage cheese, tofu, and meat

There are certain foods that you shouldn't give your baby yet. Honey, for example, can cause botulism in babies under a year old. And commonly allergenic foods such as peanut butter, cows' milk, shellfish, citrus (including juices), and egg whites should also be avoided for a year or more, depending on how careful you want to be about potential allergies. (For more details, see our article, "Foods That can Be Unsafe for Your Baby.")

Do I need any special equipment?
Just a highchair and a rubber-tipped spoon to protect your baby's sensitive gums. As your baby starts eating more you may find that a bib, a plastic dish with a suction bottom, and a splat mat on the floor can help keep messes to a minimum.

Where should I feed my baby?
To establish good eating habits â like eating at the table instead of in front of the television â it's a good idea to feed your baby in his highchair whenever you can. Handing him finger foods on the run can also cause him to choke (not to mention trail mashed banana across the carpet). If your baby isn't ready for a highchair, seat him in your lap. Just make sure that he's upright enough to swallow well.

How can I help my child develop healthy eating habits?

⢠Don't overfeed your baby. Watch for cues that he's full.

⢠Don't try to make your child eat food he doesn't like. Respect his preferences and avoid power struggles over food.

⢠Try to provide a balance of protein, carbohydrates, fruits, and vegetables. Use sweets, salts, and fats in moderation.

⢠Avoid fast food for as long as possible.

⢠Don't bribe or reward your child with food. Instead, offer plenty of hugs, kisses, and attention.

⢠Feed your baby in his highchair whenever possible, rather than in front of the television or on the go.

I have a 3 year old and will be having our second baby in a couple of months. I am looking for a side by side double stroller but I still want the travel system feature for the new baby. Do they make this and if so where is a good place to find one? Babies R Us, Wal-mart, Target etc

Answer
The Peg Perego Aria Twin stroller with the 60/40 split is able to accomodate an infant seat on the 60 side. I have an Aria Twin stroller with 50/50 seat split (I have twins). They only make the 60/40 split now. But it's a great great side by side. I loved mine. It's super light weight, the basket underneath is huge and I never had any problems getting through doors with it.

Check out http://www.albeebaby.com they have strollers at huge discount and quite often free shipping.

My daughter is 8 months old and we have just recently started having problems with our rear facing Baby Trend carseat/base. It still works, but we have to really push it down to get it to click into place. It seems to get more difficult every time we put here in there and I am worried about it eventually being unsafe. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
I don't know about cheapest...our travel system was $250, I thought this was comparable to Graco and other brands.

Answer
Mine is not like that, if you get it in right it clicks right in. Even setting it in easy it still clicks into place. I'm sometimes quite gentle with it if my daughter is asleep so I will try to put it in really easy and it snaps in without even having to push it.

I would call the company and tell them about it. Also maybe take the carseat into babies r us and grab one of the bases off the shelf and see if it does the same thing with it.

Two Pretty in Pink - where are you shopping. Almost all teh travel systems at the babies r us where I live are between $250 and $300 and that is for the Chicco's, graco's, etc. Mine is a bertini which is identical to the eddie bauer and it was $259.00, that is not cheap by any means.

And baby trend is a good brand.

Anyone have recommendations on baby car seats?

Blg105

We have a nice one but w/out a carrier (spelling?). Where is the best place to get a carrier and a base and do they sell bases separately so we can have one in both of our cars. Also, is it one base size fits all brands or does each car seat company make its' own base.

Thanks!

Answer
