What are some quality value priced baby travel systems?

TG

I need to purchase a sturdy, attractive stroller/ car seat for a newborn that won't go over $150.00. Does anyone know of specific travel systems that fit this category? Thanks

Answer
I got a practically brand new chicco travel system on craigslist for $100.00 and that included the carseat, 2 bases, and the stroller

best travel system for baby?

I am due here soon and we still need a travel system (car seat stroller combo) There are so many out there-but what one is the best? Are there ones that are just plain horrible? What is something to look for to know it's a good one?

Answer
I love the Graco travel system. The car seats are high quality and the stroller is high quality and easy to use. They have a button on the handlebar that you push, twist and the whole thing folds in one easy motion.

Do your parents have a pushchair at their house for when the kids visit?

This is just something I'm wondering about...

I don't drive, so I plan to get a good quality pram/pushchair for my baby, and just a car seat for when we go in a taxi or whatever. I don't need it to fold down tiny to fit in the boot or store in the house, because it will be in use every single day.

However, my mother DOES drive and will be wanting to spend weekends and days off with the baby, so should she get herself a lightweight, easy fold small travel system to save dragging my pushchair across town?

I think it would also make it easier for when we all go out together, as her car boot is TEENY.

What do you think? What set up do your family have?

Answer
my parents have 26 grand children, and while none of us live very near them, with so many of us, they have grandchildren visiting several times a year. Over the years various of my siblings have bought them a stroller, a highchair, a playpen, and a car seat, just so they could have one while they were visiting, and now we all get to take advantage of that when we go visit. My parents didn't buy any of those though. It is handy having a stroller there. My in-laws don't have any baby items so it does make it a little difficult when we go visit them.

Is there a Car Seat from Graco thats similar to Chicco Cortina 30 Travel System?

MommyTo

A travel system from Graco that is similar to the Chicco Cortina 30 Travel System, but lighter weight?

Answer
No need for a travel system :) Pick a good quality stroller that you like, make sure it reclines flat for use until baby can sit upright. Buy the car seat separately and don't use it with the stroller- it's not good for baby to be in a car seat any longer than they need to.

I have had an eddie bauer, and hated it! I had Graco with the 2nd baby and like it a lot, but the chicco seems super nice, what do you think have you owned both, pros and cons? Thanks in advandce!

Answer
We much prefer Chicco - we spent a lot of time messing with Chicco and Graco strollers and the Chicco felt a lot sturdier and worked more smoothly in our opinion. This includes ease of getting the stroller up and putting it down, moving parts being better quality...overall it just seems like a much better made and more convenient system. :)

I've been out a couple of times with the stroller and am very happy with it. :)

Does anyone know of a stroller that fits in a Chevy Cobalt trunk?

slb2009

I have a 2 door Chevy Cobalt. I went to Babies R Us looking for a travel system stroller. The stroller when folded up would not fit in my trunk due to the fact that the trunk opening is only 12x35 inches or so. Ideally I would like a lighweight stroller that still allows you to put the carseat on it. So I'm not interested in a cheap umbrella stroller. I need something supportive enough for a newborn and something that grows with my newborn.

Answer
the combi travel system strollers are considered umbrella strollers, they arent cheap though. they are very good quality and can hold a combi carseat.

this is just an example. they have many different patterns and styles on other websites, like the combi website.

i know the ratings are bad on that site, but i had one and i absolutely loved it in every single way. the only drawback is that it doesnt have a big basket, BUT big basket = huge stroller
