Answer
They also said that the world would end in the year 1,000. The Seventh Day Adventist was based on the world ending in seven days though they revised that believe on day eight.

Take a look at what they are saying.

They say that it's the Mayans that predicted the end in their calendar. Well that date is the end of the long count upon which the calendar starts again, this happens every 5,126 years. The Mayans left records of this happening several times before. Basically it's the Mayan new year, there is no association with destruction and the people saying that the Mayans predicted destruction are not Mayans nor have they met any Mayans. Chances are whatever accounts they are intepreting disaster from are similar to our ousting of Father Time in favour of Baby New Year.

They say that the Earth, the Sun and the black hole at the center of the Galaxy will line up. True they will line up, just like it does every Dec. 21, it's the winter solstice, they'll line up for the summer solstice too and will form right angle triangles on the Spring and Fall equinoxes. The rest of the year, the three bodies will form various different triangles just any three points normally do. Also any two random points always makes a straight line, does that have any special significance?

They say that gravitational forces will change polarity as we cross the Galactic equator and that the sudden change in polarity will cause the crust of the Earth to slip thereby shifting the poles relative to the land masses.

The force that they are referring to is the gravitational draw towards the center of the galaxy just as the Moon is attracted to the Earth. We are in orbit around the Galaxy just as the Moon is in orbit around the Earth. This gravitational pull doesn't actually change but is always in a straight line between us and the center of the Galaxy. What they are saying is that if you express that force in terms of a component along the axis of the galaxy and a radial component along the plane of the galaxy then the component along the axis changes polarity as you go across the equator. Basically they're saying that when you're north of the equator, the equator is to your south and when you're south of the equator the equator is suddenly north of you. This is like when you express a vector in terms of x, and y values instead of magnitude and angle; as the angle changes while the magnitude stays the same, the x and y representations will change value. Nothing has actually changed. What they are saying is like saying that people in Australia are upside down and have to hang on to monkey bars to keep from falling of the Earth. The Earth's crust will not slip because there will be no sudden change in gravitational forces.

They say that there's a planet or a brown star that orbits the sun in such an eccentric orbit that it's too far and dark for us to see and that this planet/star will collide with us on Dec. 12, 2012. Well, in order for it to collide with us, it has to get close to us in which case it won't be too far away for us to see. Also, in order to be in orbit around the Sun, it has to be traveling less than the escape velocity of the solar system, our space probes were traveling faster than the escape velocity and still took decades before leaving the solar system and beyond our range to detect them. If there was a planet/star about to collide with us, it would have to be already plenty close by now and easily detected. Unless that planet/star has a hyperdrive engine, it's not going to make it to Earth in time for Dec. 12, 2012.

People say a lot of things, very little of it is true and most is based on partial representations of the facts.

Best Travel System Stroller?

kayliee mo

I'm looking for a stroller but i get mixed reviews on all of them. I need something sturdy and something where the baby can maybe face me maybe by Graco? And something neutral or girly. I was looking at the Graco MetroLite Travel System - Cherry Blossom and the Graco Alano Travel System - Zoe. Any reviews on those either? Any suggestions help!

Answer
you will get mixed reviews on everything - something great for you may not work at all for me

and you may need more than 1 stroller.....(i have 3, and use them all for different things)

to me the metrolite offers little to no underseat storage

the only way you can have the child facing you in a graco stroller is to use the stroller with the carseat - attach carseat to stroller (easier than sounds, very quick, safe, secure) so for a graco it would have to be a travel system -

then you can choose how long to have them face you - up to 22 pounds or 30 pounds - snugride (22 lbs) vs safe seat (30 lbs)

you may also consider a universal stroller in addition to the travel system - it can be used with any carseat - the kolcraft universal 2 is very nice, very light, can be folded and unfolded 1 handed (by moms that is....dads will probably have issues - is not advertised as 1 hand fold) it has a small parent tray, and quite adequate under seat storage basket

do not worry so much about the print or pattern - there are far more important things on a stroller to worry about, such as:

seat recline, flat or not - IMPORTANT for infants and babies who are not sitting up yet - a bonus for the flat recline, is that you can also change your baby in the stroller, a much cleaner option than public changing tables (i carry around a can of l
lysol for just such emergencies)

size of the under seat storage basket and ease of use

if you are exclusive walker, have car or use city transportation, weight of folded up stroller, size of folded up stroller and maneuverability of folded stroller - the graco i have, you can not move using the wheels when folded up - the brake is on when folded - my universal you can have the brake on OR off when folded - great for moving while holding the baby/carseat, diaper bag, shopping bags, etc

how long you are going to use the stroller - they have weight limits as well

very important - parent tray/organizer and cupholder - sounds like a luxury in reality a necessity - car keys, cell phone, water, baby bottle (for the first year, you will not be letting your bottle sit in the stroller area cup holder...how many times do you want to pick up the bottle from the ground, and would you even give it back to your baby after it feel out on most public areas????)

size of sunshades and rotation (180, 90), peek a boo window are 2 minor things that are quite important to me - checking on baby and babies are very sensitive to bright light so a large multiple position canopy is very important to me

we have a graco quattro tour deluxe travel system with the safe seat - it is an EXTREMELY nice, comfortable (for baby and mom) stroller. it is also very heavy and is hard to fit in the trunk of my car - so for errands around town (a lot of in and out of car) i still use the universal, and only the stroller for trips out of town, strolls in the neighborhood, or for 1 or 2 longer stops when out - 3 or more stops or just 1 quick stop and i use the universal.

if cost is a factor (it was for us) try sears - my local store had the quattro tour deluxe on closeout for 90 bucks - regularly 240 bucks - so i did not give a whit about the pattern, but it is a nice chocolate brown with tan/beige print - the universal i found on craigslist for $15

graco does have 2 new girly prints out that i know of - a pretty purple flower one from babies r us, and a pink one also, not sure where you can find - go to gracobaby.com - but keep in mind for the lighter prints: stroller and car seats get dirty quite easily (even with us OCD types) - car seat covers are very easy to remove and wash......strollers are another story entirely - you need a screwdriver, a lot of time patience AND the instruction booklet is VERY HELPFUL - not to mention drying time for the cover - using the stroller with the carseat - you will definitely want to scotch guard the stroller first - or get a darker or neutral print - babies spit up a lot and toddlers can be quite messy - and a stroller is something you will use for at least 2 years - (my 3rd stroller is a size up from an umbrella, more square, has a tiny canopy and tiny underseat storage - but is great when doing laundry and hanging clothes on the line, cleaning out or washing the car, and was quite cheap - bought at a thrift store - took apart to clean/wash seat, looks brand new and works great to take baby around the house with me doing chores)

Question about Evenflo Travel System Strollers vs Jogging Stroller?

Momuvtwinb

I have a Evenflo Eurotrek Travel System and was wondering if anyone has tried an Evenflo stroller on gravel and how did it perform? My boys are fixing to start baseball again and I'm wondering if a jogging type stroller with big wheels will be necessary as I plan on taking my 4 month old with me to practices and games as long as the weather permits in her stroller. Some of the ballparks are gravel and I was wondering if anyone has any advice.

Answer
Travel systems are way to bulky! I got the Citi Mini by Babyjogger. Its a 3 wheel stroller with bigger wheels and yet it is not a jogging stroller. Its meant for everyday use on concrete and gravel terrain. Its also pretty lightweight and collapses in half by simply pulling on the handle located on the seat. You can literally collapse it with 1 finger while holding the baby! I think this is the most awesome stroller and its fairly well priced at $219.99

Parents' suggestions on baby car seat/stroller combos.?

guitarstru

Hello parents...like anything else on the market today, there are 100s of choices when choosing a baby car seat/stroller combination. There is also consumer reports. I'm asking parents' advice on which models are best, and why? Price is not an object in this arena, because safety is first on the list, along with comfort for baby, as well as weight and ease in manuvering the car seat and stroller. Because of the variables, any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

I am compiling information and will type on a sheet and forward to my daughter who is expecting her first baby. Thanks for your input.
I appreciate the very helpful information offered. I will leave this posting up and keep passing along info to my daughter. Thanks!

Answer
You're very helpful in preparing your daughter with the list of best strollers that can be used as travel systems. I hope I can help!

First off, if you can't decide on a stroller right away, you could purchase an inexpensive car seat stroller frame such as a Baby Trend Snap N Go or Graco SnugRider. Graco, Maxi Cosi, Chicco and Safety 1st are the top 4 brands for car seats listed in the latest edition of Consumer Reports.

The stroller models I'm about to recommend are highly rated in consumer guides such as the latest editions of Baby Bargains and Consumer Reports.

Next question, does your daughter just want the stroller for city use? ie sidewalks and shopping? If so, the Baby Jogger City Select is a top-rated lightweight stroller choice. It's won gazillions awards and can hold a myriad of infant car seats. It is lightweight and has a Quick Fold technology which is a HUGE seller for this stroller.

If your daughter thinks she may have another baby in the future, she might invest in a convertible stroller. This stroller starts as a single and can later convert to a double. The top-rated choice is also from Baby Jogger and is called the City Select. It can take a car seat and the seats are reversible with 16 different configurations. It is highly rated and popular parenting website Babble named the City Select the best overall stroller.

Lastly, if she wants to take her baby over different types of terrain, the BOB Revolution stroller is the best, hands down. Again this stroller has been highly rated with professional consumer guides as well as reviewers across different web retailers giving it 4.5-star reviews.

Take a look at the reviews below. They are detailed with photos and video reviews.
I hope this helps narrow your choices and congratulations to your family!

Double stroller for 2 kids under 3?

Lexy

What have you found worked best for you in terms of double strollers? I have a 2 yr old boy, he will be just under 3 when our little girl arrives. I still want him to have the ability to sit should he want to, so I thought a double stroller or a Sit & Stand would work. We have a Chicco Cortina travel system in a very boy color, we could sell that system and have money to put toward a new carseat and stroller for our little girl ... but I cannot seem to figure out if that will be the best option or not.

What worked best for you?
Are you both in the UK? :) I am originally from England, my sister had a Peg Perego for her kids and she keeps pushing it for me, but can't say I am finding anything that I like with that brand either.

The sit & stand is an optional seat which is removable for the toddler to then stand. The Chicco Cortina double doesn't have the best reviews and when I felt it in person, the cupholders were barely hanging on and it felt so flimsy in comparison to our single Chicco stroller.

Bugaboo .. that's a mortgage payment! :D Thank you, so pricey though. We have everything else that we need, so part of me feels like why not splurge on this one item, I'm just not sure I can bring myself to spend nearly $1000!

Answer
My daughter was 2 1/2 when her brother was born, and where we live the terrain is too difficult for her to keep up (she's only now starting to be able to walk with me... she's nearly 5.) What worked for us was to get a baby-chest carrier for the newborn stage. He rode on my chest and she rode in the stroller and that worked so well I actually kept it up well past his first year. It was just SO much easier than fighting with a double-stroller. At that point, he wanted to ride in the stroller and she wanted to backpack on me (we got the Ergo so that was easy enough.) So then she was riding on my back and he was riding... when I got pregnant with my third I decided we needed a new stroller because it was too dangerous for me to continue carrying them.

We got a Baby Trend double-stroller and so far it's been a pain in the neck (but all doubles ARE.) It weighs 45lbs about on it's own... with my kids in it (about 30lbs a piece) it's 100lbs that I'm pushing... it pushes well for pushing that much but yeesh. Not easy. I like the design of the Britax B-Ready because both kids can ride in it, but again the terrain where I live would leave one kid bouncing on curbs and over rocks and such... it's also like $400-500.

My recommendation really is to avoid the double-stroller as long as you can. Use a baby carrier and wear the baby and let her ride, by the time he's ready to ride there might be something better or maybe your sister can give you her old one.

what type of stroller travel system is best?

tender_hea

trying to find a travel system for first baby-- can't figure out what to get. Graco, evenflo, safety first? any help is appreciated. needing one that can recline and is easy to get into a compact car. ANY IDEAS?

Answer
I'm pretty happy with my Graco travel system, but this particular stroller is a bit bulky when folded.
Go online to Target, Wal-mart, etc or another place you can buy travel systems and read the reviews! It helped really me when I was trying to find one.

Here's the one I got: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Graco-FlipIt-Travel-System-Emery/13060515
It says it's not sold in stores but the Wal-mart in my area had it on clearance for $80! Ridiculous! There's nothing wrong with the travel system though..they were just clearing out and rearranging the store.

travel system or separate stroller/car seat?

carcar

i want to save money by not having to buy a new car seat for my newborn (she'll be coming in october)
i've been looking at travel systems but it looks like they usually only work for babies up to 20 pounds, while if i were to buy a stroller and car seat separate, it looks like they can accomodate babies up to 40 pounds...
i'm so confused and i really need advice on this
what should i buy before the baby comes!!
http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=sc_pfc_r_4_0_1041968/602-1231252-8529404?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000E0IKT4

this is kind of what i was looking at, and buying the car seat that fits.

but really-- i'm so clueless and i don't have close friends or sisters or anything to offer advice and the last kid my mom had was in 89 so... her advice is a littttttle outdated!

Answer
If you're going to go with an infant seat (you could just skip that step and use a convertible designed for use with infants through preschoolers) then I would definitely check out the Graco Safeseat1. It will last your baby longer than any other infant carrier on the market, as it allows for taller and heavier babies, or, for smaller babies, will last a long time. It will last most babies for at least their first year. Most infant carriers are outgrown between 4-6 months of age, and then you have to move to a rear facing convertible car seat. With a Safeseat, some babies fit until they are 18 months old!

The best thing for you to do would be to visit a baby boutique (here we have Babyland and USA Baby) or Babies R Us and try out the seat in your car. The BEST car seat is the one that 1)fits your baby, you won't be able to tell this yet, but any infant seat should be fine on this count
2)fits your car - this is what you want to make absolutely sure of. Car seats are NOT universal.
3)will be used correctly each and every time. Make sure that you are able to easily install it correctly, or plan on leaving it alone. Make sure the carrier is easy for you to put on and off the base so that you'll be assured to do it correctly every time. Make sure the harness adjuster (the strap you pull to tighten the harness) is easy for you to use.

Those are things to look at, and then, once you've picked a particular brand and model, choose a pattern. Infant seats come in lots of patterns. Here's some things to steer clear of:
1)Used seats: gigantic no-no see links below.
2)3 point harnesses. Babies have managed to slip out of them, especially if it is a very small baby or a preemie. There becomes a huge gap between the crotch strap and the baby's pelvic area, with no belts over the hips to help make it fit better. Check the pics out in this thread on car-seat.org: http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=14982&highlight=three+point+harness and here: http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=21450&highlight=three+point+harness

ON the other hand, it really could be a savings to you to skip the infant seat altogether, and pick out a great stroller that will last you as long as you need it, since lots of the travel system strollers are kind of crappy in my opinion. You could go straight to a convertible car seat that can be used for a newborn through toddler. If you get one with high harness slots (where the harness is at the shoulders) and a high weight limit, you may even be able to get by with one seat for 4-6 years! Remembering of course, that car seats expire 6 years after the date of manufacture. Some GREAT choices:
Evenflo Triumph Advance (NOT the original Triumph, the Advance is different: rear faces to 35lbs, forward faces to 50lbs, will last the average child until 5 years of age. For a newborn, I'd go with the $150 version at Babies R Us, it has more supportive padding. This car seat is awesome. The harness has endless height adjustment, meaning, you put it exactly where it supposed to be, AND you get to move it without taking the seat out of the car, without re-threading the harness straps. No other car seat does this. And there is no pain in the butt strap to pull to tighten the harness - you tighten and loosen it using the knobs on the sides. There is a less padded version at Walmart/Target for $130. Wide open belt path makes it easy to install. And even once it is forward facing, it can still be reclined, great for when toddlers sleep. 17" top slots.
Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe. This seat is made by Britax for Fisher Price, it is a watered down Britax Marathon. Britax quality at less than half the cost! About $150, cheaper on sale online. Rear faces to 33lbs, forward faces to 55lbs. Easy to install. Lasts most kids 5-6 years. 17" top slots.
Britax Marathon - this one may not fit the tiniest newborns - though it is supposed to go from 5lbs like the others. You will need rolled up blankets on the babies sides as it doesn't come with any newborn padding. Pay extra for a Britax Boulevard or Decathalon and it comes with the newborn padding. Rear faces to 33lbs, forward faces to 65lbs, top slots are 17" tall. Will last most kids 5-6 years. Many 6 year olds still fit in it. Also, it can be tethered rear facing (read instructions!) giving added security. Has built-in lockoffs so you never have to use a locking clip (trus me, they'er a pain!) which is needed in vehicles pre-1997 or w/seatbelts that don't lock. Easiest car seat I've ever installed in my life, no matter what car I put it in it goes in in under 2 minutes. Yes, its expensive, but worth every penny b/c of how long it lasts, and the added features that make it easy to use.
That's about it. I really wouldn't bother with any model that only goes to 40lbs. Kids should be kept in a 5 point harness as long as possible, and a seat that only goes to 40lbs will only keep the average child in it till 4 years old! No 4 year old should be using a booster seat! Save yourself buying another harnessed seat later.
Remember these things:
1) the best car seat fits your car, your child, and will be used correctly 100% of the time
2) kids should stay rear facing AS LONG AS POSSIBLE! Not just to 20lbs/1 year. See links for why.
3) after being turned forward, kids should stay in a 5 point harness as long as possible. Being graduated from each car seat stage is not something to be looked at with anticipation - each stage marks lesser safety.

Do a search on any of the seats listed above and you'll find sites that have them. The Evenflo TRiumph Advanced you can find locally, though. The other two are going to be cheapest online.
www.elitecarseats.com
www.albeebaby.com
www.babiesrus.com

P.S. If it were me - you can tell my preference is to skip the carrier - it is a total pet peeve of mine. People use those carriers too much! I see babies sitting in them everywhere BUT the car! Grocery stores, garage sales, church, nurseries, doctor's offices, its rediculous. They are car seats, or to be used on strollers. Even the instructions are specific saying not to keep babies in them for several hours. It's not good for a baby. Babies are meant to be held. Get a convertible seat, then take the money you saved by not having to buy a carrier and then a convertible, too, and use it to buy a sling. Babies LOVE them, you can breastfeed discretely in them, and it keeps your hands free. MeiTei carriers are great, as are ring slings.

Note: I don't want tan or beige or light green as they are more of a neutral, I want something like RED, ORANGE, OR RED/BROWN...SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

9 months old baby travel in plane?

Sword

Can Moms tell me how let her sleep comfortable without a bassinet pls? It is a 15 hours trip. THXS!

Answer
I've been flying internationally and domestically with my children since they were 2 months (now 7&5). Here are some tips and advice that have always worked for me and I hope will help you:

1.) You will need to have all your baby's documents in order. It is a good idea to keep a copy of his/her notarized birth certificate with you. Since it will be an international trip, you will need a passport and possibly a visa for your child as well. Verify what travel documents you will need in advance to make sure you have everything.

FAA regulations currently allow children under the age of two to fly free of charge as "lap children" (not required to have their own seat). You will need to inform the airline ahead of time that you will have a small infant traveling with you.

The Flight Attendants SHOULD place you in a front seat where you will have more room. Because of the length of flight, the Flight Attendants SHOULD give you a bassinet that attaches to the front wall to put your child in (however you can not uses this during take-offs, landings, or turbulence).

This is not the safest way for a child to fly and the airlines recommend children to have their own seat with a child safety device.

I fly international flights all the time, and trust me, you will get tired from holding your baby for such a long flight, and your child may become fussy. Try holding your child for that same amount of time while sitting on the couch. If you can do that without any problems, then you'll be fine on the trip. If you can't, then you definitely need to ensure a bassinet for your child or a CRS.

2.) I advise using a CRS (Child Restraint System) because it is safe for the child - especially during turbulence, makes them feel secure, is more comfortable for both parent and child, and gives both of you the opportunity to relax a bit. It will also help your child (and you) to sleep better.

A CRS is a hard-backed child safety seat (car seat) that is approved by the government for use in both motor vehicles and aircraft.

This website talks about approved CRS devices and their ratings: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/CPS/CSSRating/Index.cfm

Many airlines offer half-price tickets so parents can be guaranteed that their child can travel in a CRS device. You should call your airline to ask for a discount and/or ask what the airline's policy is for using empty seats.

3.) For take-offs and landings, the best thing you can do to help with the ear popping, is if your child is nursing, nurse him/her. If he/she is not nursing, give your child a bottle to drink (formula, water, juice- it doesn't matter) or a pacifier.

Baby formula is fine to take, and you are not limited to the amount you can bring aboard (as long as your child is with you), do not worry. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/formula.shtm

New regulations allow you to take beverages (including water) from home as long as they are less than 3oz, -OR- beverages (including water) of any size that you have purchased from inside the security area onto planes. You can also bring a limited amount of baby food onto the plane with you. If you are also starting to feed your son cereals, bring some that you just need to add water to. http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#10

Save your money when it comes to buying water though because the Flight Attendants will provide you with hot or cold water (or any other drink) free at any time that you request, no matter how many times you request it.

Another trick is that if your child is not taking to the pacifier or wanting to nurse or drink, gently rub his/her neck from the chin down to the chest several times - this will cause a swallowing motion which will help with the ears popping.

4.) Make sure to pack plenty of things to entertain your child, such as a few books or toys, and one or two comfort things such as a favorite blankie or stuffed animal.

5.) Be sure to pack 2-3 changes of clothes for your child. You will need this in case he/she gets sick, spills something on him/herself, or in case your luggage gets lost.

6.) Keep your diaper bag well stocked with plenty of diapers, wipes, ointments and other essential things. Baby nail clippers and scissors are not allowed though. Just remember the new regulating liquids, gels, and such and pack accordingly. You can usually find travel size baby products in stores and they are wonderful for plane use.

You should be respectful of other passengers and always change your child's diaper in the restroom. They do have diaper bed changers in there, although they can be a little small.

7.) Keep your doctors name and number with you. Also get the name and number of a doctor where you are visiting in case an emergency should come up.

It is a good idea to have a check-up with your doctor before leaving to make sure your child is healthy enough to fly. If he/she has even a slight cold, the pressure in his/her ears during take-off and landing (even if you do the precaution methods) could leave his/her ears aching for days after the flight.

Most doctors recommend that if anyone is sick (such as being stuffed up or already having an earache), not to take the flight because of the potential damage to the ears. I know my husband and other pilots do not work if they are sick because of this danger.

8.) Bring any medications that you might need for your child should he/she get sick or that he/she takes regularly. Remember that if they are not prescription medications, the 3oz rule applies to them and they must be kept in a clear plastic bag.

Do NOT give your child medicine with the hopes of it making him/her sleep. This is not only cruel, but dangerous as well.

9.) Last but not least, if help is offered to you, take it.

If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me

What is the best jogging stroller at an affordable price?

kldepalma

I am looking for a good jogging stroller. I have a 19 month old son and I have been using the Graco travel system stroller when I go walking jogging. I go almost every morning and bring my son with me. The Graco stroller is not ideal for jogging because it has 4 wheels and I struggle and get tired very easily when I start to jog. Anyone have any suggestions?

Answer
Jogging strollers can get pretty expensive. You can get the Baby Trend Expedition jogging stroller for a decent price. Its not the best jogger out there but great for the price!

Check it out: http://www.stroller-obsession.com/baby-trend-jogging-stroller.html

Looking for a second hand one is a good idea too, I second that!

Good luck!

I'm looking for a 3-wheeled stroller?

Danni

My husband and I are looking to get a 3-wheeled stroller, but there are so many out there I don't know which to go with. I was hoping someone owning a 3-wheeled stroller could help me out? I've looked at different makes/brands but these reviews are driving me nuts!
So, if you own one...
What brand do you have? Do you like it? Would you recommend it to others? I love the travel systems, but I guess it doesn't necessarily have to be one. Some brands I'm looking into so far are: Mia Moda Energi stroller, BabyTrend Expedition Travel System, Graco Trekko, and also the Jeep 3-wheeled stroller.
Is anybody able to weigh in with their opinions?

Answer
I would recommend going to a store like babies-r-us and trying some out. We have a Baby Trend and honestly I do like it. But I don't recommend a jogging stroller until they're 6 months up. As far as I know, there isn't a 3 wheeled stroller that lays flat, and newborns need that. It's also not good to rely on the car seat because the slope that they're kept at can interfere with breathing (SIDS recommendations are to keep the baby sleeping on a flat surface.) My favorite combo? A nice ergonomic carrier (like the Ergo or Moby-Wrap) for the first 6 months, then a nice 3-wheeled stroller with off-road capabilities once they're able to sit up. :) I did that with my son, pushing his sister in the stroller, and it was WONDERFUL, they're so little and snuggly against you at that age there's no reason to need a travel system or even use a stroller for them. And biologically they want to see your face and snuggle up by you, not be in a stroller, until they're able to physically start exploring a bit then they seem to like a stroller more.

It also sort of depends what you're using it for. If you're jogging with your stroller, then the Baby Trend isn't a good one because the front-wheel is loose or you can lock it in place, so for serious joggers that front wheel tends to come loose with time and wobble, not good. If you're going off-road though, then I prefer one like the Baby Trend because you can leave the front wheel so it turns and it's not hard to control, also the wheels are bike-wheels so you can get all-terrain bike wheels or just carry a bike-repair kit and if you get a flat then it's not hard to fix. If you're wanting city-type living, one handed folding, etc, then one like the Britax B-Agile will work, with smaller wheels.

I have never liked the Jeep 3 wheeler, every one I tried just didn't work for us. I like my Baby Trend because of the big wheels and how easy they are to fix, but don't like how it's not really great for jogging, still we use ours mostly off-roading. In stores, the long profile can get in the way, but the narrow width makes it so that anywhere I can walk through comfortably, the stroller easily fits.

So really it all depends on what you want it for. If you want it for jogging and exercise, get a real jogger with a fixed front wheel. If you want it for city, then the big wheels and long profile can get in the way on buses and in stores, the smaller wheeled varieties will serve you better. If you want it off-road (sand, big curbs, trails, rocks, etc), the big wheels and turning front wheel capabilities are far better. If you plan on having more kids, consider things like the Britax B-Ready (ridiculously expensive, but you can find other brands that do the same thing) where there's 4 wheels, but very maneuverable and able to be adjusted for a flat pram-like bed or 2 kids riding in it.

my daughter screams the place down in her travel system pram and only likes the lightweight stroller?

Jesicaa

I have a 2 month old daughter and i have 2 prams, the Graco Alano Travel System and the Maclaren Volo Stroller.
When we take her out and about we have to use the travel system, because its much easier and you get a clear view of her, but when you put her in that car seat in the pushchair she screams the place down, if you push her up and down it wont work.
Recently as a gift from my in laws i got the Maclaren Volo Stroller, i was in target with them and we saw this and i was going on about how much i loved it, but it was $130.00 and there was no way me and my fiance could afford this being teen moms, my in laws brought it for us as a gift and we decided to try it on my 2 month old last week, she loves this stroller, the only stroller she will go in without crying.
What should i do? The travel system cost my brother lots of money and i would hate for it too go to waste because its such a lovely pram and its so easy to push.

Answer
The graco is a lovely pushchair but it's advisable that your baby doesn't spend too long in the car seat as she needs to lie flat to help her spine , I think it's no longer than 1 1/2 hours at a time and the volo stroller is only suitable for babe's from 6 months upwards so realistically it's bad for her spine to be in this stroller just yet . The Graco is definitely the better pushchair and is so comfy for the baby, my grand daughter loves hers and to make her ride more comfortable she has a baby nest (cosy toes). Try putting her in the Graco in the house so she gets used to it and use extra padding etc if necessary to make her feel more cwtched in. Cwtch is Welsh word and definition is on link.

Does wormholes(black hole and white hole)really exists?

Q. Some say by travelling through this thing, we can travel through time? Penin laa!

Answer
yes it do.

In physics, a wormhole (also known as Abbreviated Space) is a hypothetical topological feature of spacetime that is essentially a "shortcut" or "abbreviation" through space and time. A wormhole has at least two mouths which are connected to a single throat. If the wormhole is traversable, matter can 'travel' from one mouth to the other by passing through the throat.

The name "wormhole" comes from an analogy used to explain the phenomenon. If a worm is travelling over the skin of an apple, then the worm could take a shortcut to the opposite side of the apple's skin by burrowing through its center, rather than travelling the entire distance around, just as a wormhole traveller could take a shortcut to the opposite side of the universe through a hole in higher-dimensional space.

There is a compact region of spacetime whose boundary is topologically trivial but whose interior is not simply connected. Formalizing this idea leads to definitions such as the following, taken from Matt Visser's Lorentzian Wormholes:

If a Lorentzian spacetime contains a compact region Ω, and if the topology of Ω is of the form Ω ~ R x Σ, where Σ is a three-manifold of nontrivial topology, whose boundary has topology of the form dΣ ~ S², and if furthermore the hypersurfaces Σ are all spacelike, then the region Ω contains a quasipermanent intra-universe wormhole.
Characterizing inter-universe wormholes is more difficult. For example, one can imagine a 'baby' universe connected to its 'parent' by a narrow 'umbilicus'. One might like to regard the umbilicus as the throat of a wormhole, but the spacetime is simply connected.

Intra-universe wormholes connect one location of a universe to another location of the same universe(in the same present time). A wormhole should be able to connect distant locations in the universe by bending spacetime, allowing travel between them that is faster than it would take light to make the journey through normal space. See the image above. Inter-universe wormholes connect one universe with another [1], [2]. This gives rise to the speculation that such wormholes could be used to travel from one parallel universe to another. A wormhole which connects (usually closed) universes is often called a Schwarzschild wormhole. Another application of a wormhole might be time travel. In that case it is a shortcut from one point in space and time to another. In string theory a wormhole has been envisioned to connect two D-branes, where the mouths are attached to the branes and are connected by a flux tube [3]. Finally, wormholes are believed to be a part of spacetime foam [4]. There are two main types of wormholes: Lorentzian wormholes and Euclidean wormholes. Lorentzian wormholes are mainly studied in semiclassical gravity and Euclidean wormholes are studied in particle physics. Traversable wormholes are a special kind of Lorentzian wormholes which would allow a human to travel from one side of the wormhole to the other. Sergey Krasnikov tossed the term spacetime shortcut as a more general term for (traversable) wormholes and propulsion systems like the Alcubierre drive and the Krasnikov tube to indicate hyperfast interstellar travel.

Debating on whether to buy a travel system or car seat and stroller separately?

Xand

Do babies use the stroller/car seat together often? I don't see my newborn and i going very many places. Perhaps the occasional walk. How long do they need to be in the car seat while in the stroller?

Buying them separately sounds best to me right now.. Because I can just buy a new car seat or get one from the hospital and then get a used stroller.

Im trying to save money but am willing to purchase new items that need to be purchased like that. What do you think? Travel system necessary or just buy separate?

Answer
I didn't think I'd need the system but we bought one anyway. It's really great especially when baby falls asleep in the car. We used it for about 8 or 9 months.

Buying separately will work good too. A snugli and a sling are also good when you need 2 hands (I have a 2 1/2 year old and a newborn).

It's all up to personal choice. I think I could have lived without the system having just one baby.

Baby stroller with rubber wheels?

Lauren's M

I'm expecting a baby in November and am currently looking around for a stroller. My husband is set on one with RUBBER wheels. I tell him this is not necessary but he insists. Where could we find such a stroller? We want a travel system and aren't looking to spend much over $200.

Answer
Hi

From a quick peek I saw some very nice strollers bellow 200$

This site allow you to set the prices limit according to certain categories.

In this list you can find a "2006 Combi City Savvy Stroller" which wheels seems to be made from rubber
