Answer
You sure made me work for this one, lol. I figured it had something to do with the fact that the Herpes virus "hides" in nerve cells- which can connect to the spine and brain - when it is not active. The paragraph below explains it better.

" Herpes Encephalitis
What is herpes encephalitis?

Herpes encephalitis is an uncommon but life-threatening complication of herpes virus infection. Encephalitis is an inflammation or infection of the brain and central nervous system (CNS).
How does it occur?

The herpes virus usually causes a skin infection, causing painful blisters. The blisters last for several days and the virus can be spread from the blisters to other people. The blisters may start as cold sores or fever blisters around the mouth, or they may start as sores in the genital area.

There are several ways the virus might infect the brain and nervous system.

* In between outbreaks on the skin, the herpes virus lives in nerve cells close to the spinal column. It's likely that the virus spreads from these areas into the fluid that cushions the brain and spinal cord.
* The herpes virus may enter the central nervous system through infections in the head and neck, including the ears. Many people have herpes infections inside their noses or inside their ears. These areas are separated from the central nervous system by very thin bones and membranes, which the virus can pass through.
* The virus may spread to a newborn during delivery if the mother has herpes sores in the genital area. When this happens, the baby may have a total body herpes infection, including the central nervous system.

which of the trimesters is the most important to the healthy prenatal development of the baby?

Jess

The First Trimester

During the first trimester, the egg is fertilized, cell division begins and it travels to the uterus.

A zygote, starts as a single cell. It begins to divide and eventually creates a hollow ball of cells. This ball of cells must move from the fallopian tube, where fertilization takes place, to the uterus. Tiny hairs on the inside of the fallopian tube move the zygote to the uterus where it attaches itself to the uterine wall. If the zygote attaches itself to the inside of the fallopian tube it is called an ectopic pregnancy. If this happens the pregnancy must be terminated and the zygote will have to be removed to ensure that it does not rupture the fallopian tube.

By the seventh day, the zygote attaches itself to the wall of the uterus. Once the zygote has attached itself to the uterine wall it is called an embryo. The embryo is microscopic in size and is too small to be seen by the human eye.

One Month

Embryo: An enormous amount of development occurs in the first month. At the end of the first month of development, the embryo has grown to be about 0.6 cm in size. By this time, the heart has started to beat and the nervous and digestive systems have formed. The eyes and ears of the baby are becoming visible.

Mother: For the mother, during the first month she will miss her period, but typically other signs of pregnancy are not yet noticeable.

Two Months

Embryo: The second month of development also sees a lot of advancements. The embryo has increased in size to about 2.5 cm long. The head is visibly larger than the rest of the body as the brain has begun to develop. Specific facial features can also be seen by this point. The fingers and toes also begin to appear during this stage.

At the end of month two, the embryo is now referred to as a .

Mother: For the mother, her breasts may begin to enlarge and she may find that she has to urinate more often, due to the increased size of the uterus pushing on the bladder. She may also begin to experience âmorning sicknessâ or vomiting in the morning hours. Expectant mothers also find that they start to become more tired during the second month.

Three Months

Fetus: At three months the fetus has grown to 7.5 cm in length. (This measurement is taken from crown to rump, meaning from the top of the head to the buttocks). The facial features are becoming much clearer at three months. Also, at three months the first signs of the sex of the fetus are evident.

Mother: For the mother, it starts to be noticeable that she is pregnant at this time, because her stomach becomes slightly larger.

After studying the three trimesters of a pregnancy, decide which of the trimesters you think is the most important to the healthy prenatal development of the baby and why that trimester is so critical. Explain and justify your decision in a clearly-worded document.

heres what I came up with can someone tell me if this sounds right

I think, the first trimester is the most important part of the development for the baby. The first trimester is the most critical time in the pregnancy. Due to the first three months all of its major organs are starting to functions like nervous and digestive system, the heart has started to beat. The brain is developing along with facial features eyes and ears. Fingers and toes are starting to appear as well.
