What are some of the attractions and rides that they're building right now in Disneyland, California and Californian Adventure Park? For example, the new Cars ride, Goofy's Fly School and the 'Ariel's Grotto' thing (I don't remember what it's really called). As a bonus, can anyone explain to me what 'Ariel's Grotto' is going to actually be? Is it a restaurant? Thanks!

Answer
Right now here is what is going on in both parks -

Disneyland:
* STAR TOURS is being remodeled into Star Tours 2: The Adventure Continues. It will be a simulator ride like the old version of the attraction but will now be 3D. It will also have different experiences so that the ride will rarely ever be the same and will give more options of where you can travel to in the Star Wars world. "The Simulators are going to be the same, but you'll notice differences inside the cabin". Structure is being refurbished, they're adding queue rails, adding fastpass machines, and making changes inside the building, though you can't see anything anymore because they recently added a tarp covering the Whole Building. The Star Trader is closed for refurbishment as well. The ride is set to take place in between the 2 sets of movies (the first 3 before Darth Vader and the last 3 with Darth Vader). This is set to open JUNE 3RD 2011!

There are no other NEW attractions being built in Disneyland, but they are doing a pretty extensive refurbishment on Splash Mountain. They are probably just doing maintanence but there is also a rumor that they are putting in lap bars.

California Adventure:
* Right now they are working on re-doing the entire ENTRANCE to California Adventure. The entrance will be re-made to resemble a 1920s type California, the one that Walt Disney would have known and loved. This will resemble (not in style but in layout) Main Street USA. Red Car Street Cars (like LA's old Pacific Electric Railway will be added and the focal point with be a building created to resemble the Carthay Circle Theatre (which hosted the world premire of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves).
Here are some pictures of what it will look like:

* LITTLE MERMAID: ARIEL'S UNDERSEA ADVENTURE is set to open up on JUNE 3RD 2011. This ride is going to be much like the other dark rides (Snow White's Scary Adventures, Peter Pan's Flight, etc. that are currently in Fantasyland) taking you through the movie and highlighting some memorable scenes. Disney has been pretty good about keeping most of the ride a secret, however they have released a few videos and what-not.

** ARIELS GROTTO is a restraunt and already can be found in Paradise Pier**

*CARS LAND is going to be an entirely new land in California Adventure! It will be somewhat like Bugs Land (which surrounds you in the world of the bugs from A Bug's Life) but will put you into the world of the Cars from "Cars". This land will have an attraction known as Radiator Springs Racers which will be the same ride system as Test Track in Epcot. There will also be a ride called "Luigis Flying Tires" which will be like the "Flying Saucers" that were in the original Tomorrowland (although the technology has come a long way to make this ride more efficent). The 3rd ride here will be Mater's Junkyard Jamboree. Where you are being pulled around by Baby Tractors and basically being spun around and swung back and forth. Cars Land is set to OPEN IN 2012!

* GOOFY'S SKY SCHOOL is a remodel of Mulholland Madness. From what I understand it is supposed to be a throwback to the 1940s Goofy Cartoon "Goofy's Glider". They are not sure but it is expected to shar the JUNE 3RD OPENING DATE with the Star Tours and Little Mermaid rides!

Can anyone offer advice on picking out a carseat?

Karama

I already have an infant car seat but as I look for one for when he gets bigger, there are SO many options and prices range drastically. Can anyone explain this? Do I need to drop a couple hundred dollars on a car seat or will one less than $100 be safe?
Thanks!

Answer
Don't go for the travel systems, the ones that you can put the carseat into the stroller. It's a waste. We have one, and not once have I ever put the carseat in it. My fiance carried her till she was a month old, and once I started putting her in the stroller she's fine in it without the seat, plus she can see better!

Oh! For older babies, go for the convertible car seat, it adapts with them as they grow.

(You'll be FINE with a cheaper one!)
